WOW! Check out nishi's website, he has some nice weapon models he's been working on for GR! The hands don't fit around the guns properly yet, but he'll get it fixed!

Ooooie! ive been waiting for the M60E3... By modern standards it is kindov a crappy weapon. Too heavy, bulky and too much recoil... but man oh man is that gun sexy... and the sound... i think im in heaven *drool*

Relax. Breathe. Focus on the reticle, not the target. Don't make the shot happen. Let the shot happen.

Question: If old "Nishi-san" is such a hot-rod modder, how come he's got the belt on his M60E3 feedin' from the right?

With over thirteen years experience as an SF weapons sergeant, I have used almost every one of these weapons and believe me, you notice details like that.

I've played Nishi 7, 7.5 and 8 for UO.  Yeah, the models are generally well done, but anything can look good if you're willing to throw enough polygons at it. The trick is to "suspend disbelief" while finding a good balance between appearance and poly count. The word here is "shibumi"

And let's face it, his textures sometimes could use some work, his text files suck and he uses the stock game sounds and reticles.  Not what I would call a comprehensive package.

Sound harsh? Maybe, but the bar has been raised, thanks in no small part to folks like those at Cocobolo Ops and DTD.

I don't think it's too harsh... I have no problem with Nishi and before I started modding I got all his mods the 1st day. I have mods from other Japanese modders that had better guns,(O&K) it seems like the mods from over there tend to try to change things about the game but rarely touch the basic details like rets and sounds.

It's true, if you make a gun with millions of un-nessecary poly's, you could texture it with a blank grey square and it'd look ok. I mean, some of the gun barrels look like thay have 18 sides, overkill. Not much in the way of texture work over there, besides making the textures green. But he did inspire me in a way and I can't knock him.

SabreSix, it's nice to have somebody who actually did some of the real stuff around here! Got any spare M4's you don't want? Grin

I agree with Sabre 100%. Dont get me started on LLoyds either. What a disappointment, anyway, Coco Ive seen you mention O&K several times. Never heard of them, where can we get the mods or at least have a look at their work? I think I remember you saying they are no longer around, if so disreguard.

O&K are closed down, but if I can find the mods and repack them I may offer them, unchanged, for download. The models and the types of guns were cool, none of the mods had over 35 guns in it. No new rets or sounds. There was the main O&K wep mod, a Steyer mod, an M-16 mod, and a JSDF mod, which had weps of the Japanese military like the type 89 rifle, etc... I just liked the models and their choices of guns.

Ok guess I'll plat devil's advocate here  Smiley. I actuallt like Lloyds current weapons mod. The models themselves may not be pretty but the vast selection is nothing short of impressive and to this date is the only mod (that I know of)
to incorporate that many guns into RS

I agree with Pic, the models were sooo bad, it almost eliminates the point of making new models. But aside from that, he's got a beta team that had to pay to join, and the mod was so buggy it shouldv'e been delayed at least a month. No offense to our friend Paladin06, but I was turned off at the whole idea of him charging people to join his "team".... so I don't DL his mods.

We can make a mod with a thousand guns, and spend less time actually making nice models with nice textures and nice inventory pics, with nice stats. Sometimes less IS more...

I hear what you guys are sayin , especially the paying to be a member thing. That imo is wrong. What I was trying to say about the mod was that a great deal of the weapons in his mods have never been used by any other. And there is no possible way to do great models and textures for each weapon. Also imo models and such don't need to be great to play a game. Function over beauty I guess.

I just don't get the whole money scam with mods. Mods should be free add-ons. I mean that is crap having people pay! Coco might as well just release his mods for retail Angry
