Rom, if you had spent any of your online time doing something besides posting on this forum, you may have seen this:

Wrath, lol

Ace, rofl

Romulus.... I didn't lie.... forwarding all those ports (and I said ALL) would make RS work...... and it would... ?notice I said FORWARDING..... ?and I also said it was then like running without the firewall, which it is. ? ?

P.S. if I were Romulus:
1. This would have been 3 posts.
2. Actually, it would have been 4, since I wouldn't have modified it, I'd just post the P.S. as another post too...
3. The rest is too scarry to think about... heh

"The rest is too scarry to think about... heh" (im too lazy to do the nice forum quotes, i prefer cut and paste)

i believe this is the first known typo in history that GRIFT made

also, isnt the port for rs the same as for r6? (2346) or was that just the rs demo?

Ace, I'll make a bunch, don't you worry.  My spelling actually, well, sucks.  But if I notice a mistake, I usually go back using that "modify" key (that Romulus has never seen) and correct it.

And I know that when we IP join into RS games, we use port 15000 (and it works).  I don't know if this is a GR thing, because on the server option inside RS it still says 2346.  Maybe that would still work, I don't know.  He'd have to open the other two ports as well I think.

Mmmmmm... catching up on old posts....

Grift, you can CB my clan anytime you want, even if we dont exist.  or for that matter ANY of the clans Ive ever joined.

But when I get back on to get into a fricking clan, then, you can "bring it"  or something to that extent.

As for insulting Rom, as usual (cause they are better at it than me) I defer, to ace or blacky.

Grifter: Port 15000 works for IPing in, but for some reason, RS isnt as stable, and it crashes alot more!!

RS and Stable are words that don't belong in the same paragraph.....

and, let me think, take an unstable product like RS, that is more unstable when hosting over the internet, then add another piece of kit that it must interface with.... will this make it more or less stable???

You'll also notice it takes much longer before you are able to host games from the time you hit the "join" button.  I didn't have this problem when I was using IP Net Router.  Just seems to be with some cheap hardware routers.

In regard to the router, what one are you talking about? my linksys is only 10BT between my 100BTx modem, but the comps inside the network (behind router) are all 100BTx... Is it normal for LinkSys routers to be 10BT or is mine just messed up?

1) Linksys router is a cheap router (not real bad, but not great either)

2) RS doesn't like hardware routers (basing this on conversations with people on RS, at MacSoft and my own experience).

3) as far as your's being 10bT... it all depends on what you bought.... Linsys makes many models, with 10bT hubs, 10bT switches, 100bT hubs, 100bT switches, no hub or switch, etc....  so read the manual, it will tell you.

4) And, except for the hub/switch, it doesn't matter anyway.  Even if your cable/dsl modem does have a 100bT port (like mine) your cable/dsl doesn't move data at 10bT speeds anyway.  Worry about that once you start pushing data at over 5 megs/sec,  that's OVER, not at, not before.

Yea. I know about what you said. But before, when I was on 100BTx connection, I tested in at 2.5MB, and now its only 1MB... The test is a connection test that is at the www.downloads.com site (CNET.com)

Christ, you don't use something like that to tell you your throughput... you MEASURE it.....  plenty of utilities will tell you your average download speeds... and there is no way you are getting close to 1MB/sec true d/l speeds.... not on cable, not without cashing and screwing the results up.  And make sure you are talking bits to bits and bytes to bytes.... that's always the first way they mislead you to thinking you are getting a great connection speed....  that 56.6 k modem is bytes or bits... eh?  Divide the true throughput of 48kbs by 8 bits/byte to give you the answer of 6kBs... then figure in the start/stop bits, errors, etc... you are lucky if you get 4kBs (kilobytes per second)

On my cable modem, on my DSL, or at work on the T3, I get most of the same true download speeds.....  for good sites that I'm downloading from, I can get from 80 to 180 kBs.  That's because the bottlenecks exist BETWEEN there and here...  The reason for having a T3 at work isn't that it's faster then a T1 or cable.... it's that it can handle more users on our end.. so we aren't the bottleneck.

Now, if I'm downloading from the guy next doors server, I'll get a much faster throughput since we are both on the same subnet of the same network... but it still isn't going to be as fast as using the 100bT switch that keeps my machines here talking to each other.  But that only helps my INTERNAL network.

Lesson over... and Wrath, you don't know how hard it was to not mock on porn here.....

Alright, I don't post here often (never) and probably never will again. ?But I feel that what has to be said must be said. ?Now I'm not quite sure why all you joined the *DAMN battle league. ?I know SWAT joined it so we could CB and play other clans. ?This hasn't happened. ?I don't know bout you guys, but I can't figure out why you're even in clans. ?Maybe you guys use the clan tag to pick up chicks or something, but you sure as hell don't fight. ?Why no CB's guys? ?Too worried about your stats, or the ranking of the clans? ?Seriously, who even cares? ?I know SWAT has to come to this website to check if a clan is even in the league, we don't really care. ?But I'm tired of clans asking for "friendly" CB's. ?How friendly can they be? ?WE'RE SHOOTING EACH OTHER! ?Sounds friendly to me. ?Who really cares if you lose and it goes up on the site. ?At least you CB'd. ?And your stats will improve anyway, cause you're bound to win at least one game. ?COME ON PEOPLE. ?Please, just CB every once and a while. ?And please don't delay or blow people off. ?I'm tired of clans that won't CB. ?It really sucks for those of us who do. ?For those of you who do think you'll want to CB, come to GR, not here. ?I hope not to come back here. ?If SWAT doesn't get some CB's soon, I'm gonna take the matters into my own hands.
