Hi, does anybody know about any alternative application to roger wilco? I love to communicate with my friends playing RS. It adds a whole new dimension to the game. But roger wilco s*** on my G4 (roger wilco crashes - RS crashes - sytem crashes ...). The best result was a maximum of 3 minutes conversation.

I really appreciate any help. I just can't imagine that only my friends and I have an interest in communicating during a game ?Smiley

BTW I already tried ivisit (perfect for a minute before I get a connection "time out")

I know that the latest version of Net Phone (1.2) was modified just with gaming in mind.

I've tried it once... there was only one catch.  We had to have net phone on before GR.... because GR would take over the mic's since you can talk over it too....

That was back at version 0.9 though... may have fixed that by now as well.

thx fo this hint. I read about netfone just couple of days ago on the roger wilco forum. It is indeed the best voice-over-ip application I have ever used. However I didn't find the time to try it out with RS, but I 'm quite confident, that it will work perfect.

I will let you know as soon as I have tested it with several games.

Just check this link:

Some guys are trying to develop another alternative to roger wilco.

Well, I recently tried netfone with Rogue Spear and Diablo II. Bad news:  I had no luck - I just didn't get it work during the games (it did before I started and after I quit the games). Although it is a great voice-over-ip application and it worked also excellent cross-platform (I tried it with franx), it seems to have difficulties with games. I will try to mail the developers about this, because roger wilco really s*$?& on my mac.

why is it that RW works durring gaming, and netfone doesn't. i love netfone, and it would be sweet if it could work durring Rs sessions

I got NetPhone to work in games...

The problem seems to be not with the games, but with GameRanger.  Since GameRanger wants to allow voice in it, it doesnt give up the Mic Control to NetPhone.  I got NetPhone to work with an IP join, and if I turned NetPhone on before starting up GR... it also worked once.

Play around with it... see how it does.

Hi Grifter, can you send me your settings for netfone and the version of netfone you were using?

I tried netfone also with a direct ip connection in rogue spear, without any luck. Although my friend and I have a broadband connection (DSL-cable), it doesn't seem to work ?Sad
