Yesterday I downloaded Covert Operations at www.digital-wonders.net/spear/ it was about 60+ MBs...well it unzipped fine and I installed it like every other mod for RS, but.....after the first level, it froze on me while loading the next mission. Anyone have some solutions? Another question....Is Covert Ops on mac? & Is it legal to have this as a mod? I was under the impression that it was a separate game.....but then, some Classic R6 levels have been ported to RS, so I don't know....thanx for any response.

Officially, I don't think the download is legal. It's a commerical product after all, even though it didn't come out on the mac - but this could just be sour grapes from me as I went out and bought the thing ages ago and converted it myself - but that'll teach me.

Of course you're missing the "cool" videos that came with it - but about the only cool thing is watching the interviews with Tom Clancy and seeing his Mac with a cinema display prominent behind him - ON A LEVEL PACK WHICH NEVER CAME OUT FOR THE MAC - Oh, the irony...

As for the freezing between the levels, I had the same problem with the game stopping between one mission and the next. Scour the internet to find someone's saved game with all the missions completed - that will open them all up for you...I can't remember where I found mine, alas...

Hope this helps

Hobo or Toby,

Did you ever find that saved-game file?  This looks interesting.

No Franx...I actually just ended up making my own.....I went to the ".pln" file in: covert operations/plan folder (it asks you if you would like to use the HQ's plan during the game) and copied the ".pln" file for the last mission, "CO03.pln", to be the "milestone.pln" into a "camp000?" folder...I then made a "camp000?.cmp" text document w/simpletext....it read like this:

//-- CAMPAIGN --
"COVERT"
camp000?
1
1
0

......I did this for only the last mission of the three missions, I think it is "CO03"....you have to change the campaign #s of course depending on how many campaigns you have already started in the Covert Ops mod...I think it came with one campaign name already started....so you can just name it "camp0002"....also....all the ".pln" files from the covert ops/plan have "" before each line.....I'm not sure, but I think the Mac version of RS doesn't understand the "".....so yes, before each line in the ".pln" files, which were turnred into my "milestone.pln", you have to delet the ""....you then put the new "milestone.pln" into the "camp0002" folder....then put the "camp0002" folder and "cam0002.cmp" text doc. into the Covert Ops/save folder.....you can't play the levels in the campaign mode, but you can in the custom mission.....I probably left something out.....I havent played RS for a couple weeks.....but that was it.....I know I copied all these ".sav" files also, but I don't think it is necessary to play in the custom mission.....

in the bottom paragraph....in between the quotes where there is nothing.....I tried to put the rectangles made when you press "ENTER" in simpletext.....so yeah....that is what is missing.....again, if you know I did something wrong, please correct me....I just used a save-game for RS as a reference, some logic and my own brain to come up with this save-game hack....er whatever...
