OMG, i went to yodays game and ig to 1187 ping, thats first problem, second, i cant host, it quits on me, and third ties in with first, EVERYOEN gets 600 pings off my host. but 1187, omg.  what should i do, reinstall rs, replace preeffrences, i have a G4 so i dont understand.

NH...it's your connection to the internet....sometimes it depends on the computer but its mostly your service....Sounds like the service blows.

i had that problem right around when the 1v1 tourney was happening with my pings...
usualy its the service, they might be fixing things  or something. basicaly wait it out, it should get better, if it doesn't call your isp and wait on hold for a couple hours.

It's a simple problem with your connection, first off, perhaps another user within your house was using it to download somthing, that will greatly slow things, when my brother is downloading things, or even worse, uploading, I used to get 2,000+ Pings. If the problem continues, then it's your ISP, and Jeb is right, you either have to wait it out, or wait on hold.

NH you got a router? if so then u most likey put the wrong IP's into tcp/ip to get infront of the firewall... so check those. if you don't have a router well...then....rebuild you desktop and hope for the best LOL

i share my dsl line with my parent's computer, usualy its ok when they are surfing the web or checking the email, but every tuesdaynight when Software update comes on at 1am... my pings go to shit.
it could be a prob with latency... but remember latency and bandwith are 2 different things. even if you Dl at 70k a sec you could get terrible pings

I have AT&T as my ISP, and I rarely get crappy pings. I usually reset my modem, when the pings are BS. If that doesn't work, a good DHCP renew sometimes does the job.

Lol, since my host is the topic of this, I'd like to say i was hosting a 16 player game with half the peole from Europe when im in Texas. When the lag got bad i asked the europeans to leave, then more americans came and it didn't lag anymore. My host isnt bad, except when i get 8 europeans on 56ks. I never have bad ping during the night though 69 and such, But the airport i have splits the conection in 4 ways. I don't know if this is the problem or not (why you get bad pings from my game.)

They are gettign better, much better, yet............i till cant host, its odd that i couldnt host and i had bad pings at the same time, so i thought it had somehting to do with the bad pings,  i just won my self a absketball game, 19 points WOOT!
