I don't think you can call a person who's new to the community a vet no matter how good he is. Imo being respected and known in the community is everything when it comes to evaluating who's a vet or not.

I was going to reply to infection's post but I decided not to...

I think its too hard to put a single definition of a vet into words that everyone agrees on. For me I can tell who is a vet and who is not by how they carry themselves in and out of the game.

Its all about ggs anyway.

I agree, I think a vet as an animal doctor, just like Wombat's mom.

Uh, Typhy, by your definition I'm a vet... That's way off.

Frankly, it's obvious who the vets are. They play with a different mindset then different RS players. First of all, when they talk you can understand what they mean. They use teamwork to take out the baddies, they don't camp (sorry Jeb), and they have an odd stratagy. I mean, in Rainbow 6 you can tell who is a vet and who isn't by how they play. Even if a player played for 6 months, I could tell he's not a vet, but he had practice. It's in their style. What do they do when they see someone on hbs running away. How do they deal with certain in game situations. That's a vet.

A vet has nothing to do with manners or politeness, those are morals or lifestyle.

P.S. Ult, you're a noob! Smiley

A vet is someone who has been there and done that. Jeb is a vet, even if he does camp. I have seen all vets camp, I have seen oso, I have seen ult. Camping could be a unusual strat.

A vet is someone who's been in the community long enough to know most people and be friends with them. It has aboslutely nothign to do with skill, you just have to be around for a while.

Also if your not hated and are in the "leet forum innercircle" you are a vet.

Ahh, Jeb has figured it out.  It doesn't matter what your Gameranger number is, how good you are, whether or not you were around to switch to RS when it came out (or in some cases not.  Rock on R6!).  It doesn't even matter if you are respectful on the forum or in game, just so long as you're in the leet forum innercircle.

Basically, "Veteran" is a title that is bestowed upon you, not earned by you.

By the way... who is in that leet forum inner circle?  I'd like to see a list... so that i may KILL THEM.  BASTARDS!!!111 They laugh at me! Why must they laugh at me! I have the "1337 skillz" too! I have reached puberty! I consume alcohol on a regular basis.  I can be cool!  I'm just like them!  Why can't they be my FRIENDS?  I just want to be in their "leet inner circle".  IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!?

*tear*

(You know, there really needs to be a crying face for the more sensitive forum-goers such as myself.)

Sorry, you and douf are out of luck. At the entrance to the inner circle there is a big sign that says in bold letters "Syrup rules, janitors drool. NO FLOORMOPPERS ALLOWED!"

Well, the only people in consideration of being called a vet by me are those who have proven themselves in combat in games that I have played or have reputations with people I respect/respected....and there are very few of them.

So what I am getting at is that most of you forum dwellers are not vets in my eyes - don't take it personally.

I think I say this for most of the "forum dwellers", get off your high horse!
A "vet" is someone who doesnt have to put down others to make himself look more important.
A "vet" is someone who helps out in the community.
A "vet" is someone who has respect for others even if they are "noobs"
that is my 2?

You'll lose hard if you don't camp a bit in GhR, that game is made for camping (because of all the big maps).
