Well,

As some of you may know, I play on the original iBook. So here it goes, don't get me wrong this is one hell of a great computer, just a few let downs. Here is the info on the comp...

iBook Blueberry
300MHZ
160MB RAM (Came with 32 built in and you can only up it to 160 so that's the most it can have)
3GIG HD

Ok well, when I play R6, even though I have a cable I experience a lot of lag. The MHZ on this comp are pretty good so that's not the problem. The problem is the fact that it has a 3GIG HD. And considering I maxed it out with memory, it still skips in the game. So do any of you have any suggestions on how to make my R6 run smoother on this comp. I already up the preferred size of R6 to 90,000K (originally at 63,000K).

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Well, when I've tried to play on my iBook SE (366) I have the same issues.

I've also had it maxed with RAM... but the tiny little 4meg video set will always hold it back.  The only thing I did that helped was to shrik the screen size from full screen down a few notches.... that helped some.  I still won't play RS on it again..... that's a nightmare.

Grift --

If there a way to set the screen that way so every game I don't have to keep shrinking it down? Cause that gets annoying just liking shrinking my map down and changing my gun to 3 burst.

RS is truely a nightmare. But I have a brand new iMac and I'v played it on that... and I still think it sucks! =P

vapor, try using mac os 8. it doesn't require a lot ram like os 9 does and will free up some ram to put it towards r6.

vap, the hard drive really shouldnt be affecting your performance, its mainly the 4 meg video card, the slow processor, and the ram (thats probably not too bad for what your running)... and rs runs like shit on g4's with good amounts of ram; tryin on a g3 is futile

jo.... play it once on a good G4 with lots of RAM and a great video card.... and you'll never go back.

Ace, I play it on a G3 300 with 256 megs of RAM just fine... but it has that nice Radeon 64 meg video card.  Which makes all the difference in the world.

Mind you, the G4 is still the choice for a no lag host. machine.

Hehe Wrathy.

I will try what Grift said about minimizing the r6 screen. Hopefully that will help.
