"It's time we talked about the elephant in the room. Bush isn't presidential, he never was, and we all knew it. He won reelection because John Kerry sucked, not because the majority wanted him in office. As a caretaker president, he might be fine, but when disaster hits we need a real leader, not some guy who simply isn't smart enough, and doesn't have the backbone or instinct to lead. We are witnessing first-hand what happens when a weak leader responds to a crisis. The crisis worsens, and people die."

I wish Bush at least pretended that he cared about the hurricane katrina disaster...but I guess vacation is more important, so.

Say what you wan't about Clinton, but he was always there immediatly when the country needed him...

i'm kind of sick of american politics, but i was just thinking about this today; has George Bush done anything good for this country....ever?
all of his nominees and cabinet have scumbag records or evil undertones, all his tax cuts, plans, and reforms are just plain useless to the average (majority) americans, our economy and quality of life are going down the crapper at the SAME time, gas prices are way up, he doesn't give a flaming fuck about new orleans underwater, and to top it all off he's spending money that we don't have on a seemingly nonsensical war getting people killed from all over the world.
who the hell does he work for anyway? not america..

The general rule of thumb when dealing with any situation that has federal (Executive Branch) involvemnet is that Bush is doing it wrong. We have extencive records over the last 5 years of his involvment in various issues and every single one of them was either horribly blundered or set up not to have the best interests of the people in mind. The hurricane disaster is no different.

I have decided to come back from the dead and post my radical thoughts on the issue.

There have been some cases where the authorities are keeping people in the city. Let me say that again, they are keeping people IN THE SUPERDOME! Those that want to leave cant, and they continue to pile around in their feces as those inside die! Let me give you links so you can see why I am talking about

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/09/02.html

This site is especialy helpful of detailing some of most negligent even criminal actions being taken by the US government. What is my suggestion? The government has broken the social contract and refuses to protect us, thus we have an illegitimate government and it needs to be overthrown. By arms if need be. If they do not care about your lives, what makes you think they will give a flying fucking about your protests?

Sixhits, FYI he stopped his vacation a few days early. Granted he isn't doing much about this situation, but neither is anyone.  People are sniping other, looting, rape...  It would make me feel a little better inside if Bush helped distribute food and medical supplies...

Not unlike he helped clear fallen limbs and such last year.... for all of six minutes until the flash bulbs stopped. He's a Talking Head (like Reagan), a puppet pretty boy with wealth and affluence and strings, but very little in the way of any acumen or strength of character (though i'll admit Reagan had presence. Behind his smugness and smirks i see fear and bewilderedness.

I would have like to see him giving out thousand dollar bills. He's making fifty million a year and all he's giving away is hugs? I call bullshit on that. Best i can give is my blood and i feel like a schmuck. How's he sleeping at night?

He cut his five week vacation short by two days.

You miss the fact that he waited two days to respond to the disaster. So wow - he cut his vacation short. But he still sat on his ass and let thousands die.

Blitz, I think that the costliest Natural Disaster in US history, should be ample reason to cut your vacation All-together.  Not just "2 days short"

Please god tell me you were being sarcastic.

Where is the knowledge we lost with information?

« Reply #13 on: September 05, 2005, 10:44:50 pm »

Here's some interesting "facts"(?) about George Bush that my friend sent me. Don't know how true they are but I thought they would be good to spark some debate =) I can not confirm the validity of these facts just some discussion.

? First president in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.
? In his first two years in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs.
? Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history.
? Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.
? Cut the taxes of the wealthiest people in America (those making over $200,000 a year).
? Members of Bush Administration are the richest administration in history.
? First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in U.S. history.
? Cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than any president in U.S. history.
? Dissolved more international treaties than any president in U.S. history.
? Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases.
? First president in U.S. history to attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
? Took the biggest world sympathy for the U.S. after 9/11, and in less than a year, made the U.S. the most resented country in the world.
? First U.S. president in history to have a majority of people in Europe (over 70%) view his presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability.
? In the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks, he has successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.

Oh ya and the Clarence Darrow quote in my sig is also worth taking a look at.

Just another few words.

Leaderships comes from the top. The praise for success and blame for failure begin and end with those at the top. Any attempt to shift the blame for the terrible response to this disaster reflects on the character of those who speak thus.

I beliveive the first "tag" has happened before, I think there was some president that had a criminal record, but that was like 100 years ago or something.

But what do I know? I live on the otherside of the world.
