So I had an idea at work today while stocking the corn. When I'm on GR there is more often than not one too several games of coop raven shield open, often with no adv games what so ever. These are people who play online, yet usually stay out of the adv scene, and thus out of the *DAMN battle league. Well normally, I'm sure we would all say fuck 'em, however, because of the low number of active clans and cbs in raven shield I'd say that most people are looking for a way to attract more people to play rvs. I wracked my brains for awhile, and I came up with this: a coop ladder.
Now when I searched for coop in the *DBL forum I came up with one result which had nothing to do with coop, which leads me to believe that this has never been tried before, and probably for good reason. Coop in R6 was, I assume, a joke. I know coop in RS was not enjoyable for most, and ghr has never really had a shortage of cbs or clans. But the coop in rvs is more exciting and usually hard. It stresses team work, and would be good practice for noob clans just learning how to play together. Hopefully these clans would play on the coop ladder first because they are scared of MP5 and BoC, and then gradually gain confidence and make the move over to the adv ladders, thus boosting the number of clans and cbs, and making it more fun for all.
So, it was just an idle idea, but I thought it was worth a post. I'm sure there's a thousand problems with it, but who knows, it might be fun...

Spike that is a good idea, but there is just a lot of things that have to be looked at. In order to make a coop ladder you would need rules first. Making rules for this wouldn't be that easy, because wining in coop isn't as hard as you would think. Ghost cam and NetFone are somethings that just make it so easy to locate terrorist. If you have a bunch of people on you're team all talking you will win. So the amount of points going out would be a lot. Cheating would also be a problem, giving people 5 rounds to beat 40 of them. *DAMN would have to require screen shots of the wins, but as most people have seen in the past fake ones have been made. There are just so many aspects to look at, and i should point out that all the coop players are unorganized, and are not in clans so that would also cause a problem.

yeah i think coop players are a lost cause.  the people that want real team clan play will look for it and apply to clans when they think they are ready.  as it is i think coop rooms are used by some to familiarize themselves with the game, then they make the transition to live play.

and you forgot to mention all the people who are scared of c|  ;-)

I do have rules, I just wasnt about to post a huge long thing when I wasn't sure anyone even wanted to listen. I'm not really sure how it would work out exactly, but this is what I have come up with so far.
I would be a point based system, as I suppose the BL is now. However, the points would be based on three things:

1. Number of tango's killed. A point system could be established assigning different values to the different levels of terrorists.
2. Time. While each clan could kill the same number of terr's, the one that does it faster gets more points. This could include point increases or decreases as your time lengthens in comparison to the other team, or vice versa.
3. Number of team members. Instead of fixed matches of 2v2 or 3v3, it would instead assign points based on the number of men in your team. A person team would get a bonus for the increased difficulty, and the bonus's would get smaller as the teams went up. The bonus's, of course, would be offset by the increased risk, and time required with having just a single man.

The league would be based around matches. The reason it should be based around matches is so that there are two parties present at the match, one who plays, while the other watches to make sure they aren't faking anything.

This is far from everything, but it's a start, and all I was able to come up with at work today. I'm totally open to comments and suggestions.

When I was (is) thinking of hosting a coop ladder, this idea struck:

Why not make it a competition between two clans?

One clan takes the map of the day (or agreed map), has a go at it while the other clan observes and makes sure there is no cheating involved.

Edit: Poster above mentioned same thing. Missed that. Sorry.

Rules:
3 tries each
Same map for one cb
A win of the map is awarded with a win of the cb. (If clan one wins in its second round, clan two must win to make to make it null)
Elite

I am currently developing a points system...

There are plenty of RvS clans, but they just need to play. A 20 Team ladder CAN be successful, but it can only be as good as you want it to be.

The [01] Clan with our arsenal of G4's will be participating on the RVS ladder full time in season 9.  Be for-for-warned.

That is all, see you on those shitty RVS maps!

Well, the idea wasnt meant to entirely replace or stand in for the regular battle league. I'm sure it would be a small following, but hopefully useful.

I was talking to Mauti about an RvS coop ladder a while ago. He never thought it would be better than a between season activity. Personally, I think that coop is more of a test of skill than adv, and it could be quite an entertaining ladder.

The way I had originally thought of it, your team would recieve a score based upon the amount of time and the number of casualties for a given mission. For score verification, we would need an impartial observer and a screenshot. A "season" would be one run-through of all the coop missions. The winners would be one hardcore group of tango-killers.

Yeah Crypt. In a 4v4 RvS cb, there are only so many places your enemy will go and can get to. Its just an exercise in doing the same things a little differently each game. Everyone runs to the point of contact, and then blazes away.

In coop, there is a time to run, a time to tiptoe, and even a time to hold your fire in the face of an easy killshot. I've seen coop games run as smooth as glass and I've seen them come apart at the seams. It is all dependent upon the level of teamwork you can achieve. Then there is always that one time in 20 that one of the terros flanks somebody unexpectedly... Shocked
