What kind of performance do people get with G4s? Can you run it at higher resolutions with higher detail? Or is it still dog slow?

BTW: I have a G3 300 (Blue & White tower), 128 megs of RAM, R128 vid card...

iMac DV SE 400MHZ G3 1999. As you know on my iMac RS runs with high tangos very slow but when I reviewed the demo I could run the Met map with 1024*768 and high details acceptable but the bunker map in the full version, pfffffff impossible to play with over 30 tangos.

Awww, man, I want a G4 so bad... RS drops to 1/2 FPS whenever shooting begins on any CQ map like Killhouse <goes and quietly cries in a corner>

i have same computer as mauti, and i have no problems with single player (any res). multi-player is a different story all together. the fps is fine most of the time, but on slower servers the fps goes to heck in cq situations : (  so, in conclusion, the game runs fine on my imac, unless i play on a slow server.

I have a G4 400 with 320 Megs RAM and a Rage 128,  220 allocated to RS/UO as a standard.
I have probs with performance slowdown with high numbers of tangos but that seems not to be a problem that could be solved with this game engine - to my opinion.
The engine seems to be blown up with sf/x since R6 and maybe the programming/converting was not really skillful. What really messes my gaming atmosphere is the sound performance: the gun sounds fade in slowly and softly after the first few shots and thats not good... Does some of you experience the same probs?
I think the versions of OpenGL 1.2.1 and Quicktime 4.1.3 and the newest ATI drivers do not work together correctly...
Greetings to all gamers from the Sarge.

well, i have a G4 400 with 350 MB RAM (200 allocated to RS) and i can play nicely with 1024x768 and high details, sbut i normally use only medium details. the graphics card is the stock rage 128 pro, and i think the newest openGl drivers and ati drivers.

Funny how Wrath puts his system specs on every post when all you have to do is look at the RS box where it says Minimum Requirement Cheesy

What Dude?

U CAN play RS on a 266 beige g3???
GREAT! i think 33 mhz more or less dont make any big different. SO - mauti could u bring your RS CD once to me to test it?

I also have a built in STORM Videocard that should be able to give some boost.

Hmm if u meet a laggy Bander in RS soon dont wonder - im just on sightseeing there hehehehehe.

i got a the first G3 desktop when it came out clocked at 233, with 192RAM, 4mb video, 6gig hd and it runs R6 and RS ok at 64x48 high... even at 80x60 high it runs smooth but anything after that it bad.... but i play mostly on my laptop G3 500, 8mb video, 512 ram, 12 gig hd(partitioned 8gig,4gig) basiclly optimized for video editing and high end multimedia crapm and i run R6 at 1024, 768 high with no problems but play at 1024 medium just for hell of it... i havent been able to play RS or UO cause GR is down  Sad

is it me or does RS run slower than R6? I've done nothing different between the two so what is it?  Like loading up takes longer. Theres like a delay when I load up MP games and a ton of lag... help.....

Of course there is a difference. RS has more complex maps, objects and models. Thus it takes up more processor power.

As for the lag issues, almost all non-connection lag is caused b/c your computer isn't good enough to run RS smoothly. You really need 256 megs of RAM + to run RS well.

i have 256 ram... my computer isnt a slouch... its can run most 3d and multimedia/video apps with no problems... and render like a monster but when it comes to RS it walks like an old man... might be a congif problem but on a LAN game I run fine... but in gameranger it slows... though it might a slower connected person and other people are getting the lag too.... i'll just have to test    thx
