pretty much all audio-in mics/headsets don't work on Macs (incompatible port). you need a so-called iMic to make it work.

Not true. You need to be able to choose the mic in the preferences(system prefs/sound/input/select your mic). You can contact me on aim (voodoo3132) if you need some help. Otherwise I would spend a little more money and get a good USB mic/headset. Im sure there is someone here who can recommend a good one.

I personally use a cordless headset($100US) and a USB boom mic (logitech) $35US.

that's what the iMic does... it recognizes the audio-in mic (without iMic it doesnt get recognized by the mac) and makes it available in the system prefs because it kinda works like an adapter from audio-in to USB.

and yes... simply getting an USB mic respectively headset is the better (and probably cheaper also) choice in the first place.

I have a iMic with a Plantronics Audio.90. I figured it was cheaper to replace the headsets when they break than it is to replace the USB ones. Much cheaper in fact.

34 for iMic + 35 for headset = $69
vs
Same quality USB headset for $109

I find that the Audio.90 even sound better than the DSP 500.
