Yep, I said it. 10 bucks!

The Centris is the flat comp by mac, no thicker then a phonebook. no CD drive too.

I brought it home froma garage sale, and I hafta get the monitor input on the back of the comp fixxed, but after that I'm gonna see what I can do with it.

Maybe load it up with mp3's and hook it up to my huge stereo in my basement.

You must be asking yourself "how the hell can he hook it up to his stereo?"

Well ppl, guess what, this comp has, count it ,BOTH audio and visual inputs, including S-Video for digital. I about shit bricks when I saw it on the back of this Centris 660!?!?!?! M/b i can run my ps2 throught it, or hook it up to my TV or something.

and another thing, I was having a look in the internals, and i think i have a hunch that the HD is juiced and the mem is pretty big for what it is, m/b 1 Gig. Who knows, I have to run a diagnostic when i get it back from the shop next week, so i can see what i have to work with.

In the meantme, i painted the cover with that spraypaint that is textured like black rock. I don't know if u have ever seen it, but i will post a pic when i get it back from the shop.

She's old, and she might be slow as hell, but she has something New macs will never have again (m/b if u custom order it, and pay for it), and that are A/V inputs, and S-Video inputs/outputs.

Man this is gonna rock. Network that little bitch with my G3 im my room via long fuckin ethernet cable, and I  got an unlimited supply of music in my basement!!!!!!!!!

M/b i'll change the voltage to DC power and mount it in my car! hahaha..

WHO KNOWS!! the possiblities are endless!

nice steal, dest, unfortunately, there's one problem. it's not a Power PC, so it won't be able to play MP3's unless you decode them to AIFF first. it's just not fast enough to handle them. It might be good for is hooking up your PS2 and getting screen captures, provided you can find a old version of premiere or something.

if you didn't live really fuckin far away from me, i'd offer you one of the many old PPC's i have, that can run MP3 players.  I gotta 6100 (flat like yours, with a CD drive), a 7100, and a 7200. See the benefits of having contacts in the school system?

hmm.. lemme see

yes, MP3s are just compresed AIFFs. The problem is your centris won't be fast enough to decode the MP3s. the algorithms are just to complex for it to handle. I know this all too well, i was stuck with a Quadra 700 until two years ago. Even with it's powerful 68040 processor, it couldn't handle MP3s, or any mpeg video for that matter.

jeb you noob. that's becaus eyou had the PPC card. you can't run any MP3 players without a PPC. period. you can slowly decode them to AIFF and then play them. this i know. i used to do that.

i swear to god i downloaded a mp3 off some weird lycos file sharing thing... in 1997 or sometime around then, on my Us Robotic's 28.8 modem on a lighting fast AOL connection. and got the mp3 to play on my  quadra, well quadra's own all no doubt.

does anyone else remember how downloading Mp3s was before napster came around?

btw mb you could get it to run "mac amp" a popular mp3 player back in the day
