I just found out about this. All I have to say is there goes a true American hero and the greatest hitter who ever lived.

A blast from the past...

Yeah, definitely put his country ahead of himself...only God knows all of the other records he would have shattered if he didn't take time off to be a fighter pilot in WWII and Korea.

I'd imagine that they are going to have a funeral at Fenway like the funeral that happened at Yankee stadium when Ruth died.

Yes, Truly one of the greatest ever and the best hitters. He will be missed. Baseball is the oldest sport. So it's the one where you see some of the players die. It's sad.

One of the best players ever.  And a great human being.  I think my father is in mourning.  You don't see many players with his work ethic or devotion anymore...  none with that and his talent.

Typhy, lacrosse is older than baseball, lol...but granted that baseball has had a major league forever...i'll give you that one.

But I still pay my respects to the great Mr. Williams.  Hats of to you sir!  You were one of a kind.

We'll miss you  Sad

I think when Typhy said that baseball is the oldest sport he meant with regard to the ages of the players.

You can almost play baseball from a walker, as long as you can hit the ball hard enough. Heh. Ever seen footage of Babe Ruth trotting around the bases? He was great because he could pound the horsehide, not because he was athletic.

Yea that's really dumb but in the future some people think they will be brought back.  Where did you hear that Typhy?

It's just so amazing how he was in those wars and was such a great baseball player.   What a great life.

On our local GOOD sports radio channel they used to have Sporting News radio (formerly One on One sports) which I'd listened to for about five years and the Jim Rome Show which is fun.  But now they've switched over to the decent but not great ESPN Radio...I mean, Tony Cornhieser and Dan Patrick are good but the lineup in general isn't as fun.  I can still get Jim Rome on a crappy feed from somewhere south of here but I no longer can get SNR (because their webcasts never work for me as Real sucks ass).

I love SNR, Today was their 1 year anaversary as SNR instead of 1 on 1 sports, Yeah, I was listen to Chris Russel last night, Lots of talk about it, trying to sound respectful, but also say just how stupid the son was being.
