if someone doesn't know he probably will think you are crazy. @BFG: About the integration of the forums and if this news are just news or not. If you take a closer look at the urls you will notice that every module where you can post replies is like an own forum board and every entry is like a topic. So cbs, rules, news built upon and extend the core posting module(if you are familiar with programming there is an abstract class communication with base functions like updateMessage(), updateSubject(), updateUserPostings(). Functions like viewing a topic have to be implemented in each module that extends these features) An own forum module could also be built upon the posting module and would also have access to all other postings made in rules, news or cbs. So an own forum module could be better integrated then a forum software like SimpleMachines(*DAMN Forums). But of course such an module would have less features, at least at the beginning. Right now it's on my low priority list. All depends on when the *DBL will go public and I think for season 1 we might just hop to the *DAMN forum. PS.: another thing that is on my todo list: showing the last 5 posts on the reply page ;-)

Mauti I was looking at the clans page where all the clans are listed and that page could become a mess if theres like 50 + clans. It might need something to organize the clans better. Maybe put them in columns and organize alphabetically.

...But lets get back on track. Mauti-1:When a clan wants to sign up, there is a huge problem concerning the homepage. Either its the "helptext" or its the procedure - i dont know. But its really complicated to enter a new clan, and enter the clans homepage at the same time. It ends up with the clanleader being confused and annoyed. Mauti-2:"replies". If you post a message in the forum, you will be interested in peoples replies. These replies arent visual right now, unless you enter the forum, and go all the way to the end of the topic. Mauti-3:CB´s should be able to arrange via the DBL homepage. I need a "challenge-clan" button. Mauti-4:Statistics could be more useful. The ladderpage could show the number of CB´s fulfilled, denied and forfeited Mauti-5:You simply GOT TO implement the old forumposts into the new concept. Those posts are the backbone of the DBL-league and people love to stroll back and read conflicts years ago. Remove them from the new DBL and you remove the history, concept and reason why you have a mac-league. Mauti-6:I need basic information to show up. You are prolly already into this, but info such as " posts-since-your-last-logon" ...."new values entered on your ladders"..."CB-invitations"...."registred clanleader comment"....would be appreciated. Mauti-7:Rules... I expect we are all doing this evaluating for a reason, right ? So when do we start making rules for the leagues ? Mauti-8:Punkbuster. Are you planning to lead the games into the hands of Punkbuster ? If so - prepare some d/l for mac - if not : all admins are needed to make setups that exclude cheating the best way possible. Mauti-9:This isnt going to be dull - is it ? Plz keep in mind - designwise as well as conceptwise - that we need something funny. Mauti-10: Dear Mauti - I have had the luck to visit you, and I have had the ...erhm...luck ..to be one of your admins, for many years. I cant stress enough how I felt, when I got the signals that you were rdy to restart the DBL. But on the other hand... If this is what we get... |

Hi Flies,
I really don't know what you mean in an ironically and what you mean serious, especially after all the fun cb comments you made last night ;-) But right now your posts seem to be a bit hostile. I think you missunderstood the purpose of the sneak peak. It's just about testing the code, no games, not much posting except bug reports and missing features like you did in your second last post. It's just a first hands on. The sneak peak isn't limited to admins. A few interested people that try features out and let me know what works and what not. Also probably the db will be resetted before public release, so all postings will be gone. Hope that clears things up. Good night, Mauti

I had a hard time trying to enter a "new" clan.
It seemed as if the the problem was all about the website-stuff. I tried to understand the info-txt, but it didnt get me any closer to a solution. What was the difference between clanwebsite and DAMN-clanwebsite ??? I finally managed to get through, simply by randomly pressing keyboard until it worked. --------- |

Do you maybe mean clanURLname?
That should be just your clanname without any special chars. It will be used a bit later to link to your clan's *DBL page. So you dont have to enter a link with ?clanID=13... you could use a more humanreadable link like dbl.damnr6.com/clanURLname. It's also shorter and people will remember it easier. I guess you tried to enter a link there and then it throw some error messages at you, right?

ps.: the *DAMN clanwebsite is your clan info page where you can see all your members, signed up ladders and so on... Alright I just found the bug in your first post on this page. There must have been something wrong with the copy and paste.

it seems the posts here are getting mixed-up.
Some of my posts are missing - others are repeated twice. What the heck - most important is, that my message of we all are trying to make the DBL come through, still stands. It would require a few jokes and suchs though.....
