Title: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: <82ndAB>Tigah on August 13, 2005, 03:35:33 pm
With the new season almost here, the admin Map Pack team are working really hard to have the new map pack ready in time. Before we go ahead and make some changes, we thought we would ask you for your opinion first. The following are a few of possible changes we thought would be important to you.

NOTE: CLAN LEADERS/REPRESENTATIVES ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO POST IN THIS THREAD. All others must give their suggestions to their clan leader or representative. Posts that do not meet with this criteria run the risk of being deleted.

Vote 1.Because of the constant complaints that we hear about the Nade Spamming and 15 second games, we're considering changing the OICW/GL's Rate Of Fire to a slower rate (possibly 1 second apart). We know a lot of you are determined to keep the original Guns just as they are, but we also know some of you would find this change to be a good thing for the overall game. Please choose 1 of the following options -

A) Yes - Change The Rate of Fire for the OICW/GL.

B) No - Leave The OICW/GL as it is.

Vote 2.Below is a list of Maps that we are currently considering for the New Map Pack. We will be combining Both of the previous map packs and adding some new maps. We'll only have room for a few, so please choose your TOP 5 picks from the list. Along with your vote, you may also suggest other maps that are not listed, but please include where they are located.  Note: There is still some doubt concerning the use of IT maps.

- Outpost  -Macgamingmods
- The Farm
- Polling Center -mp3
- Swamp Airfield -mp3
- Mercenary -mp3
- Plantation -mp3
- The Bank -mp3
- SkullValley

- Rue de la Mort -mp3
- Desert City http://homepage.mac.com/v1.42ghz/vip/maps.html
- Mog City http://homepage.mac.com/v1.42ghz/vip/maps.html
- Great Wall - Macgamingmods
- Mytoan Sniper (B&G)
- Industrial (B&G)

The Admins will take all your suggestions into consideration before making the final changes.

Voting closes on the 16th August 2005

Vote 1. B) No - Leave The OICW/GL as it is. Changing any original weapon would ruin the gaming experience. I personally do not choose the OICW/GL on a majority of the maps during a cb, but when i play against a person who knows how to use it well, I do not feel intimidated. It all boils down to stradegy. Making the game easier for the average joe (haha) defeats the purpose of competition.

Vote 2. Mercenary, White Skull Valley and SOAF's Bank are great maps. As are a couple of others that I would like to suggest, but not in this reply. I would hate to download yet another map pack that includes Polling Center or Plantation when I have a perfectly good installation of MP2 wasting space on my harddrive. Remember, two clans can agree to using another mod during a cb. Island Thunder is cheap and easy to find on Ebay AND *DAMN has a great patch and walkthroughs to help you get it on your Mac. I would also like to add that Frostbite is another mod with great maps that have been included in *DBLMP2 (The Fort) and X5 (Blue Ghost) mods.

I have also had discusions with Punisher regarding Origmiss/MP1 map spawn point adjustments, and talked about adding Kits (not weapons) with KitKat and Hunter. This may not be the place to include that feedback, however, if you are interested (without going off topic) I can make a reply later.

can ya throw a pack together that we can test for lagg and make sure they dont have  tons of glitches ect.? hard to vote on this , its still not wz or the envorinment that it creates. we all know we dont need anther de dust map that is laggy as hell in there so we need to beta test them and  decide from there, besides that is a shit load of mods your asking us to dl there. some us dont have the ablity to get them
all, one simple dl would be nice. can u provide for a beta test? (then we can vote)

I say change the OICW/GL - I may not be playing next season but I've put enough time in to voice my opinon.

Oh and another interesting thing - why are these Island Thunder maps all of a sudden not a problem?  hmmmm

Just because your taking it from another mod doesn't change the legality.

I say leave the GL the way it is.

I would like to submit the new map 'the Prison' as a great map to be considered for dbl3 pack. Me and Punisher tried it out today, WZ and spawns work good.

Shade, did you guys get an approval from Aspyr or Ubi soft in regards to the legal rights to the IT maps? If so, then I think we'll need to see that so we can put Mauiti's mind at ease if it's decided that we'd like to add those maps.

Team Leaders... may I suggest that YOU download these maps and make them available to your team. I've posted as many of the links as I can find below. I'll dig up the remaining and post them later tonight.

We will pull the TOP maps from this vote into a beta Map Pack for everyone to try, but we can't pull ALL of them together into one pack for testing. To add all of these maps PLUS all of the other current maps into one Pack would probably push it over a 800MB download. It would also probably be full of lag.

MP3 Mod:
http://www.specialforcesclan.org/downloads/mp3.zip
- Polling Center -mp3
- Swamp Airfield -mp3
- Mercenary -mp3
- Plantation -mp3
- The Bank -mp3
- Rue de la Mort -mp3

Bar & Grill:

- Mytoan Sniper
- Industrial

Remy's Mods:

- Mosque

Others:
- Desert City (These are in the VIP mod. I'm getting this one)
- Mog City (These are in the VIP mod. I'm getting this one)
- White SkullValley - http://www.edgefiles.com/files/19673.html

We tried and tried first contacting Ubi whom referred us to Aspyr who never really gave us a comment so I think GhR is not exactly on Aspyr's priority list or they just didn't know what to say in regards to legality issues.

Yeah i'm having the same problem Shade, but because Mauti has been in hot water previously with Ubi, he wont go anywhere near IT maps until we get a clear answer......so I'll keep trying and we'll see.

They're beautiful maps and they would make a good addition to the mainly small maps of previous mappacks.

I think a move towards bigger maps is good because more tactics can be employed but the problem is you want to keep the mappack size to a minimum so that even 56kers can download it.

If you really know what you are doing I suggest going through and clearing out excess sound files and textures which are sometime sloppily thrown in with mappacks - sometimes that helps filesize.

Map prefs besides 'The Prison':

- Outpost
- Polling Center
- Swamp Airfield
- Plantation
- Jungle Prison
- Mosque
- Rue de la Mort
- Desert City (version from the x5mod)
- Industrial
- Blue Ghost and/or Jungle (from X5 mod)

I think out of all of the weapons the Socom needs to have sufficient damage added to it. The socom can take up to 4 shots to kill someone..  By the way im honored by the fact that your using some maps from the B&G mappack..

Can somebody give me a link to the XMod website because I thought BlueGhost was part of Frostbite.

And has Skull Valley been ported to Mac? - when we tried to make the *DBL Mappack 3 we wanted that map but couldn't get it.

Ahh if we cant use IT maps.
These from the mp3 mod are taken directly from it.
However theses maps are in several "illegal" freely available mappacks played on GR so most people have them anyway.

- Polling Center -mp3
- Swamp Airfield -mp3
- Plantation - mp3

Yep - most people have IT as well but the problem is we can't include them in the *DBL Mappack until the issue of legality is solved.

Even if we can't get official approval to use the IT maps in the new Map Pack, they will still (as they've always been, i believe) be on the list of maps that can be CBed on. We were just hoping to be able to wrap some of them up in one mod for easier use.

Island Thunder and Frostbite have always been able to be used - in the rules it states that they can be used "if both clans agree on it".

I think all clans would agree that Island Thunder is a perfectly good mod to use but that doesn't help with the legal issue - but like I said Aspyr probably doesn't give a shit anymore but we don't know that yet.

I guess I'll represent [01] for the last time...

I think the GL should be changed on the condition that this dosn't start a snowball effect where guns start being modded in away that might unbalance the game. 80Proof said he wanted the socom's damage to be increased but I disagree with this as its the price you pay for a silenced gun and I just hope people don't start asking for their preference of gun to be upgraded in some way. There is nothing in the game I hate more than that darn GL but I will put up with it if it means the game dosn't start getting major gun/gameplay changes that might unblalance it.

As for maps:
Outpost
SkullValley
Mosque
Rue de la Mor
Industrial

Thx but do you have a link to the actual X5 site? that Punisher did or something - I was just on it the other day because it was in somebodys info on GR.

As for the Socom - I think that if the damage was changed it would make it so that more people would take the Socom instead of the OICW which is good since really only a few guns are used in that game, but even if they do take Socom they give up 1) The accuracy of the OICW 2) The Zoom and 3) The GL - so I don't think that increasing the damage will affect gameplay too much.

The problem with the socom isnt the damage, it is the slow reticle pip speed.

I still think the fact that its silenced is an advantage enough, theres been plenty of times with my SA80 that I've had to think twice before firing because I knew I would come up on the TI.

the problem is that most of us, i think don't have IT .. so making it in a mapack would be cool for the ones that don't feel like buying the mod. i really don't think that aspyr or whoever made the game would care about spreading a few maps from their almost 3 year old game, would they?

That's the whole point of their legal action. It's technically theft. Like when someone gives you, say, some command maps and you give them to others without compensating or even asking permission from the maker... you know.

Right - only the PC Island Thunder had to be bought - yet the Mac version didn't.

Thx RoeM - just by looking at the pictures of the Blue Ghost it looks like a Frostbite map but it's been so long since I've played it I might be wrong.

Right - only the PC Island Thunder had to be bought - yet the Mac version didn't.

No... someone illegally ported the IT maps over to Mac. If they were free, why did Mauti get that cease and desist letter?

Anyway... this thread is for voting on maps, not arguing about copyrights and intellectual property laws. Can we get back on topic?

Vote 1:
Yes... reduce the ROF on the GL

Vote 2:
+ Outpost
+ The Farm
+ Plantation
+ Rue de la Mort
+ Desert City
+ Mog City

And in other comments, I'm against tweaking the other weapons just because they're not strong enough or have enough ammo in a clip. The reason for slowing the GL is to improve overall game play and prevent spamming. I think the trade off of having a silent but weak and generally inaccurate SOCOM is good.

Well I think this is important because it pertains to some of the possible maps to be included.

Right - only the PC Island Thunder had to be bought - yet the Mac version didn't.

Originally it wasn't illegal because you needed to buy the IT version for PC - install it on a PC then drag the MP2 folder to your mac and run the IT patch.  Problem was once one person did it they just sent the already converted MP2 folder to all their buddies.  I think Ubisofts problem was more that he devolped the patch that could convert the PC version to the Mac.

i say if we leave the GL the same, then we should make the other kits a tad better, to spice it up a little...such as 9 frags instead of 6....maybe 6 rockets instead of 4....and even a little more power on the socom.

It would give a little more incentive to use some of the other kits, instead of relying on pure spam.  Just a thought.

{E} clan votes as follows=
yes... slow the rate of the gl
maps we pick are......
-rue de la mort
-mosque
-desert city
-great wall
-the farm
also.... is it possiable to get a timer in the new map pack for dbl? like in the x5 mod, one that tells you how much time you have left to get the smoke(in secs for both teams, one that holds smoke and the other who does not )
? also about the socom, if were gona do anything to it, is it possiable to make it were the 2nd sensor works 100% of the time? or maybe make it were it is a touch more accurate? (not too much more tho cause it would maybe be too good then)....... but i feel more strong about the 2nd sensor working 100% more than accuracy....thanks from {E} clan

mag - about the sensors...its not that it doesnt work..it just sometimes doesn't lay period.  And it's not just with the socom, our guys have the same problem with the OICW.  Not sure that there is a way to fix that.

6 Rockets would be spam because they can be fired fairly quickly and they're even worse than the GL.

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: cO.twist on August 16, 2005, 11:12:15 pm
so...whats stopping them from doing it with 4?  On ghost town you might see a rocket or 2....you'll see 24 GL bombs within seconds.

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: {E} 357mag on August 16, 2005, 11:20:53 pm
bad things about rockets tho is you have to reload after each one...... sure hope they make it were the timer tells you how much time you have left so we dont have to sit there and think about that why we are playing

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: cO.twist on August 16, 2005, 11:29:28 pm
i dont even care about the rockets.....i was just saying something else that can be added.  The only one that i would like is the # of frags increased anyways..

and btw mag are  you talking about the time remaining on the wz?  I know i smoke alot, but i couldv'e sworn that it already did that.

About the whole GL issue...i really don't think we should take away from the game by eliminating the ability to spam...it's been part of the game for a while now, and strategies are different on some maps because of it.

The only reason i suggested adding a few nades/rockets is to balance it out a little bit.

Post by: {E} 357mag on August 16, 2005, 11:40:25 pm
well i dont play x5mod but.... rob was telling me that it counted in secs, like if you dont have the smoke it will tell you that u have 30 secs left to get wz, or if your team has it it will tell u that you have had wz for 2 min 30 secs  ect., not just every min or so but in secs as well (correct me if im wrong)

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: cO.libre on August 17, 2005, 12:13:11 am
just pay attention to what time the thing says "warzone controled for 2 minutes". mag, for example .. the horn goes off after two minutes and there is 4:08 left in the game. that means then that you  have to get the smoke by 3:08. it's pretty simple if you ask me.

another thing .. why slow the GL? because you find a spot that is easily naded? people don't spam as hardcore as before .. they are just good at shooting the GL now. if you get frustrated by a grenade hitting you then why even play? find a better spot where you won't get naded. the ROF of the GL has always been a part of the game. why change the game that we spend so much of our lives doing?

Ok, since we now have a good indication of what maps people would like in the new map pack, we have since put together a map pack containing a bunch of maps only

http://www.edgefiles.com/files/20513.html

– Some have already been mentioned here and some are new to most of you. It also contains maps I know some of you didn’t have a look at such as Skull Valley.  I really urge you to download this pack, especially since it contains maps that are new to most of you.

So instead of lessing the one spammy weapon you want to make more spammy weapons?? I don't get it.

I say no to editing other kits.

About the sensor,  I deduced that it is something with the DBL map packs that causes the bug.  I was playing with some ? guys in a nonmodded room, and never had a problem (I was playing in this room for multiple hours) laying my second sensor.  But shortly afterwords I joined a DBL room and once again had the problem of second sensor not laying.
Not sure what we can do about it, but just a heads up.

They would be unrelated - the mappack wouldn't effect sensors unless maybe you were using the Socom which is in one of the Mappacks but if you had OICW/Sensors that is in Origmiss.

You guys should really leave the GL as is.
It is part of the game. Learn to deal with it.

I feel so far that most of the votes on this thread to change the gl have come from players that rarely cb in ghr, or from struggling clans.

Are you changing the game to accommodate for frustrated players that have yet to learn to play agaisnt it?
If so, that's lame.

I know many active players agree with me about leaving the gl as is.

I was actually the one who proposed the idea to the Admin team. I did so after several long time active players mentioned it in a chat discussion.

It's a decision that actually effects me as I am one of the dedicated GL guys on [:] so I don't take it lightly.

I'm unsure who "you" refers to above, but I hope you weren't including me in your comment. Truth is, it's a public vote so it's "we" who are potentially changing the GL.

Thanks Mag for the feedback, much appreciated.

Basically we are still taking suggestions - all the votes and suggestions will be considered when we make our final selection. The votes gave us a good indication on what people liked from what they had "seen", but any feedback from the beta pack and other sources will be appreciated. Hopefully by the end of this weekend we'll wrap up the selection process.

Well I know equally as many players who don't want it.  I wouldn't say being in the finals for 3 seasons in a row would be a "struggling clan" yet most of the :MoD: guys will agree that the GL spam makes GhR not fun to play.

Just played through the pack.

There are some great maps in it, with a true Ghost Recon feel:
The Farm (Day and Morning)
Hammer
White Skull Valley
Foy
Prison (Day)

...and then there are those maps which have the "chance" of just ending up like some of the maps in DBL2, which no one ever plays.
SOAF Bank
Mercenary
Swat Training

...and then there is this one, which is unplayable due to the horrible way it has been made dark.
Prison (Night)

To the GL thing, we say don’t change it. Seriously...it’s the gun that makes the most fun in the game. I tried some games with the moded GL, and it totally destroyed the game imo. The movement of the GL players was slow and everyone was standing in the middle of the open waiting for their GLs to launch. If you think about it, on how many maps is nadespamming really a "problem"? I can only think of one, Ghost Town.

you can't spam with frags dude..

you're kidding right? thats the thing, people think throwing frags at random on small docks for instance isnt spamming, but shooting 4 nades from the GL at a spot where you just saw the enemy is - bullshit. frags are rreeaall handy for spamming, especially on small maps.

{E} clans reveiw on some maps.....
gaurded forest has tons of glitches were objects disappeared (bushes ect.)
foy night was just so horriable (night vision was terriable)
mercenary this is a good map but u can just lay there and get foot shots all day on the other team from under the houses ect..(i mean someone has to go for the smoke but no one wants to get shot in the foot when they run for it do they?( this may be a camp fest map ) ill give more opinons later from our clan (remember this is our opinions and were just giving feedback here) not to be confused or taken offence by any other clans ect.....thanks

I'm leading the ghr for mod this season, so So far the two maps I have seen that are worthy (if picking 5) are:

White Skull Valley
The Farm (Day)

Talking about Prison Day, the spawns are a bit wacky, and I dont think this map would go over well after about the first 5 times played.

actually no, i am not kidding....you can't SPAM with hand nades dude.  if you throw your nades as fast as you can, they might blow up every 3-5 seconds....that is NOT spamming.  Spamming is sending 6 on one dude that you see with the spamnoober...

if you say that you can spam with frags...then i say that using full auto is spamming....sounds gay right?  So does the fact that anyone (esp someone from z][t)  would think that it's even possible to spam with frags....whatever dude

you can't compare spamming with the GL and "spamming" with hand nades...besides..hand nades actually require skill in ghr...does the noober?

I never shoot more than one or two GL-nades at once. Decreasing the Rate of Fire of the GL would make no difference for my play, but of course for the people who actually "spam"...

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!

if you decrease the rate of GL "spam" then why don't you decrease the rate of any other guns full auto? that lags the game and is way more annoying / takes less skill than the GL.

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!

i would say one of the few people that i have seen use the GL in a skillful way would be Civic.  There are of course alot of other great GL ppl as well.

But hey, i'm not dogging the GL by any means...Its definitely fun to take...i was just saying that you can't spam with frags...but that's just my opinion.

No it doesn't - unless 3 or more people are doing it within close proximity of eachother or holding the trigger on a Support weapon - but even that on good servers won't lag.

None of the good players I know of use Auto anyway - unless in close combat but still they don't waste the whole clip.

i dont think sending 6 nades at a location where you know the enemy can be called spamming. hows that different from shooting 15 shots at someone? next we'll have people complaining about the large amount of ammo per clip. apparently there are two different opinions about this, but i think spamming is shooting random nades to for example SK or just send the enemy back.

i dont use the GL, i havent practiced it enough to be good with it - and someone needs to set sensors for their team anyhow. still, i realize that on the DBL level of playing people are actually skilled with the GL and spamming isnt really an issue. if it didnt require any skill and was someohow overly predominent im sure we'd have way more people taking that kit. as of now we have pretty much just as large as percentage taking the oicw with sensors, a socom, an sa80, even uzis and submachine guns.

I dont see where you are getting at this.  Sending the enemy back is an important part of the game.  Shooting 15 shots and hitting with one when you see an enemy is as much of a sucess as shooting 1 and hitting in my book.  Spam is RANDOM.  6 nades at a location where the enemy has a good possibility of being isnt spam.  And how many people throw 6 nades into the same exact spot...

On most of the maps nade spamming isn't an issue at all. Well at least it is only GT. But how many ppl can really shoot those long range nades? I think we should leave the GL as it is but increase the # of frags and rockets to make more even.

on the subject of the actual map pack - i don't know how much the admins went through and checked these maps, but there are quite a few problems with alot of the maps....the smoke doesnt work on some gametypes on some maps...texture issues (alot), and on some maps when playing seige, if you are on defense and respawn, you can respawn on the opposite side of the map (kinda hard to defend your base from across the map on some of these huge maps).

i don't have time to post everything - have to head to work.  If the admins want to know the specifics on all the problems we found, just pm me later.

Okay... let's get back on track here and close out some of these issues. This thread was to be for Team Leaders to post their teams vote, so I've gone back and tallied only what the Team Leaders have said. If you voted for your team because your Leader is away, let me know and I'll add your vote to the score.

THE RESULTS ON THE GL VOTE TO DATE: 4v4

For Changing The GL
- *Macuber
- [01] Dark
- [:] T
- {E} 357mag

Against Changing The GL
- [a] ferret
- =US= RoeM
- ~Po~ Hunter
- cO. Twist

As you can see, it's a tie, but there are still a few active teams that we haven't heard from. They are...

- GhRa
- z][t
- :MoD:
- [TRIBE]

Again, if you voted for your team, let me know. If your team hasn't voted, get your Leader to do so. I think we're going to leave the voting open through the weekend so that people can make any final comments about the maps. I'll try and tally those votes later.

I think you should leave the GL the way it is... You dont know how many time's it has saved my life when some noob shot his entire load off and had none left. I had bigger problems with people who knew how to use those things by self control, knowing when to carpet and knowing when not to...

If you have a small map like "Small River"... Alot of you guys have experienced some quick nading to the waterfall... By slowing the time on the GL wont fix this problem...  You can now go up against the other team using 4 GLs and firing at the right time... to create the same effect.

maybe the admin team could make a simple mod for us with a slowed down gl? just to see what it's like... I know my vote doesn't count, but I think spamming is a problem, and I admit that I do it a bit. I think it'd be better if we all learn to actually aim the nades (I know, I'm over-exagerating a bit).

anyway, is there some way we can get a little sample of what the slowed gl would be like? or maybe a video of an admin shooting it as fast as the ROF will allow or something?

krush, you can actually mod the GL (and all the weapons if you so wish) by opening their .gun files in TextEdit and making some very simple changes in numbers.

Ghost Recon Data > Mods > Origmiss > Equip > glforoicw.gun

just change the 600 to whatever you want (experiment) in this part:
SelectiveOption RateOfFire = "600"

personally, its a part of the game, everyone can take it, its fun, its useful, its nice support and a good distraction, and STILL it doesnt overrule the other guns and secondaries in the game. i say we keep it.

The slowed GL will really mess up alot of ppl.Roop(or maybe Fi300? one of them) runs a slowed gl on his server (i think its about 1 sec in between shots) When i first shot it i was like, wth! my mouse quit working!
I didn't like it at all,but my main weapon is a GL so of course i wouldn't want it slowed down.

Mag, I said when I posted the link to the beta pack that it was just a selection of maps that were hard to find and just a new selection really. It wasn't actually created by anyone from the admin team and nothing in it is decided for the new map pack. Please look at my original post where I posted the main selection of maps to choose from and along side them, the places you can find them.

Also, the spawns and wz etc can be moved in any of the maps in the map pack. So if you like them, but the spawns and wz put you off - let us know

can you guys edit how close you get to the wz before you actually tag it? (ex - caves you can tag it from like 5-10 feet away from the smoke, downtown you have to stand in it for a split sec before you actually get the wz.)

if so, then that small outdoor map..i believe its mercenary or something like that...it'd be alot better of a map if you could tag it from 5-10 feet away.  As it is now, you have to stand in the middle for a good 3-5 seconds before you even get the wz.

Just activate it like any other mod.

yes for mod it does.  MoD is back to being for the GL being changed.  Sorry for that change, knew it would cause a lil problem, but nothing we couldnt handle.

Whoa whoa - hold up.

No.

We'll talk within the clan about this because even though Dark may be leading our 1 man GhR team I'm still co-leading the clan.

[edit]Dark is in Po now so :MoD: is still for changing the GL[/edit][/color]

So doesn this mean there will be no changes for the GL? We'll have to put up with the continuation of NadeSpam in Season 11?

I didn't notice a slow down in the motion, only a slow down on the rate of fire.

Not to change subject, but before the new dbl map pack is decided on I would like everyone to try out 'Ghost Village' by Punisher. I have played it and its an awesome map. The final programming Monoman is working on will be done soon. i really think this map would be a great addition to the next mappack, plz try it out.

Just my (un)bias two cents:)

Civic, this map is worth waiting on.  It seems to be very well done, and if it is in some other map pack then we will never use it to cb, it is rare that a map not in the DBL packs are used, so this map should stand a chance getting to be used in the DBL map pack.

sorry to ruin the perfect series of "its a great map" comments, but i definitely cant say that i would want this map to be in the DBL pack. the map is nicely made with few bugs i assume, but it really isnt a ghost recon map. there is basically NO open space, and it would maybe be more suitable for a 1v1 or something.

ghost recon maps should really be ghost recon maps. im sure we can all see the difference btwn ACTUAL ghr maps that came with the game, as opposed to most maps which were either converted or created as a whole. examples being dust, chalet, swat training etc.

the map is rather beautiful except for the 10fps on my machine, even with most settings on LOW, but i dont think it's suitalble for a CB.

Title: I Suggest a Skin Add-On for the new *DBL Pack
Post by: eur.reddust on August 25, 2005, 09:57:33 pm
Hi,

in Sept. 2004 i made a skin mod for multiplayer games that is available here:

http://www.damnr6.com/macmods/grskin.shtml# called "Even Uniforms Range".

I think the name gives You all the imagination of what this mod is good for but You may want to read the info in the download section (or below). Then view the included pdf.

I like to suggest to make this a part of the *DBL packs.

Since this is a "stand alone mod" with a few special features there must be some adjustments for *DBL needs: i.e. Red and Gold team only, no second sniper... and btw. the current version is v.1.3 (with female voice for all female troops).

--->
Description: "Even Uniforms Range" is a compilation of third party skins that finally eliminates the disadvantages of the original characters in the original Ghost Recon game.

The player gets the opportunity to advance to a mature play style while having better camouflaged uniforms for each platoon.

Now all characters have the best camouflage available and gain maximum advantage in all given terrains.

Special features are
- a second sniper in urban camo for each platoon
- a complete female squad

This mod is compatible to Desert Siege, Island Thunder and also recommended to the *DBL Packs 1.5 and 2.55.

This is the actual update: "Even Uniforms Range v1.1" is now no more influenced by "=X=Mod".
<---

I have this mod and i love it. I was hosting it off and on for awhile and people seemed to like it too. [:] Weak was always asking me to open up the squad of chicks so he could be on it.

The camo is great and really makes a difference of maps like Wilderness and Creekbed.
If there's some way to incorporate it into the new Map Pack, I'm all for it. It would really be great because the standard camo is so unbalanced in the game.

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: {E} 357mag on August 25, 2005, 10:44:40 pm
i have to agree with what he says there about the even uniforms, many times in a cb or in reg gamplay i kill people or get killed because they, or i, have less camo than some of the other team. notice that in alot of games the guys have shirt sleaves on, then in other games they do not..... the point is i get a kill on a guy better if his big hairy white arms are hanging out of a bush than if he had full sleaved shirts on (makes him alot more visable), so with that being said, if were gona dump so much time in getting this map pack "right" then lets do it the right way and make it so everyone has the same uniforms better camo ect., i have played the even uniforms and it is alot better, this will make the game alot more competiative and enhance gameplay for everyone, lets make it an even playing field for everyone, no one team should have an advantage on the other just because his uniforms are differant.....this mod has already been made, so why cant it be included??.......the permission is there from the maker so lets include this mod.there arent any excuses. and besides why should the game be the male gender only? i know this would excite red tigah alot to be able to go around as a hot chick and kick all u guys asses as a female player (sorry to call you out like that tigah but your an excellent example of guys getting schooled by girls :)

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: [a] ferret on August 26, 2005, 02:55:51 am
You're all assuming people use the IFF = Names or Reticule to ensure they dont TK. If everybody had "even uniforms" making the appear at a glance to be on your team, your altering the way another person has to play the game. I dont use my ret for anything. Just aim and shoot. If my team has a skin I remember it because thats how I play. Maybe I'm the only one so majority overideds minority, but is this even involved in the vote?

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: Civrock on August 26, 2005, 02:59:16 am
We're "assuming" it because IFF = Names is set part of the rules for GhR, since many seasons. The use of it is forced.

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: [a] ferret on August 26, 2005, 03:15:41 am
Actually thats for server settings, not your personal settings. Just because you have the server set to IFF=Names does not mean that your IFF will show names above everybody. You still have the option to turn them off under your personal options under Gameplay. The reason the server is set to IFF=Names is so that people who do use Names will have them appear on their screen while playing in your server.

hmm....... yea id like to know why no one would not want to make the skins even....... in a cb do they have a special tattoo on there arm that makes it so they can identify there team or something? as far as more tks, were all pros here i dont think thats an issue, i think everyone runs iff names and remember if your reticle is pointed at your teammate then it changes colors regaurdless of what he is wearing.

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: Kangaroo on August 26, 2005, 03:30:01 am
I too have never used names.
I also thought one of the advantages in a cb for the non-hosting team was to pick camo color?

Title: Re: Ghost Recon *DBL Map Pack 3 - Some Changes - Vote Now!
Post by: [:] Mr. T on August 26, 2005, 06:46:21 pm
Ferret... I know what you're saying... when  spawn I look at my teams uniform and think "okay, we've got the vests on" and I just shoot at the guys without them rarely paying attention to the IFF. However, this even uniforms mod doesn't make all the uniforms on each squad the same. It just makes them more evenly balanced as far as their ability to conceal. To 357's point --- the guys with the short sleeve show up a lot easier than the guys with long ones. I still think they are visually distinct enough to keep us from mistaking friend for foe.

I wouldn't think this would be a TK issue for pro players like yourself. It might be a problem for noobs, but then again... who even knows if they notice the difference in uniforms?

Map Pack 3 (public Beta)  is now available for download:   http://www.damnr6.com/macmods/grmap.shtml

Please let us know if you find any problems........we will not be adding any other maps or deleting any,  (until next season) unless there's serious issues with any maps.

Also, This final map pack replaces 1 & 2 dbl map packs, so you don't need to activate 1 & 2 when hosting, just this final one.

Is this a installer like the other packs,or just a compressed folder? Since it takes me about 16 hours to download this and probably 10 or more trys,i would kinda like to know if its going to work after i get it DL'd.

Thanks

You took the wrong link...

^ Right-click it and Save as/Save linked file.

People with very slow connections should wait till the final version is out, though, which should be within this week, so you won't have to download it again.
