Title: The choice of admins
Post by: Toxic::Joka on October 10, 2004, 03:58:47 pm
The choice of admins

We have seen some structural changes in the *DBL, after *DAMN Mauti and *DAMN Elandrion started University, and searched for the best system to preserve the *DBL. For a period not so long ago we had ? if I remember right ? almost 16 admins! Without any specific job description !! And without knowing exactly why they were chosen, besides the fact that they were in a clan that used to have an admin.

Well, a lot could be said about that system. In fact ? a lot has been said about the system. So lets just get to how we do it from here on.

Surprising as it may seem, we will try to create a more team based group of admins. Future admins wont be recruited because of stripes on their shoulder or clantag or whatever. The main-qualification is, if he or she fits the slot that is open.

Bit vague huh?

What exactly does The main-qualification is, if he or she fits the slot that is open. mean?

Kinda reminds me of a aristocracy.. .
Would more clear rules of the choosing process be in place for next season?

I think this is one for Mauti to respond to :)

There are a few points that should be fullfilled: like that you are often online in the forums and/or GameRanger(depending on your job). Further you should be aware that the job as admin is very time consuming, much more than most guys think, because you don't see the hours and hours of discussions that are going on in issues, etc...

However another very important point is based on sympathy and how much I personally think you can add to the team. It's a subjective one, but that doesn't mean I only take yes sayer, far away of that. There are lots of individuals in the BL admin team, so we can get the a very objective opinion about the different issues we have to deal with.

Further a lot of suggestions for new admins are coming from the admins. Like our newest admin Red Tigah.

So, activeness, ability for teamwork, issues in the past with other admins or the BL, timing(when you ask for being an admin), suggestions from admins, sympathy and my stomache decide who joins the admin team.

It's a bit like a job interview, your qualification alone, doesn't decide alone, also your attitude.

Bye,

Mauti

Actually, I was the first to suggest Red Tigah be made an admin.

Naturally, since *DBL Admins can't tie their shoes without posting it in the admin section and discussing it for 3 days.

Point of fact: the structure is flawed. This is why my position was created, and before season X I am supposed to be allowed to rip it in half and rebuild properly.

Do all discussions between Administrators end up in sexual related tales ?    ::bussi::

From what I've seen, yes...the admin pool is definitely full of people who are, shall we say, NOT homaphobic.  ;)

hmmm...homaphobic, homophobic?

I digress.

Although I have yet to see Red Tigah get caught up in any good sexual threads.  Hmmm....what does she have against it?

I try to stay away from the... sexual threads... though somehow I'm always dragged into them one way or another. ::)

Ah you miss out there GS im afraid we keep that behind closed doors ;)

that said can we let this thread die please guys - i don't wnat to lock it but this is way way of topic (yes im as much to blame as everyone else) so if you've got comments about the admins etc give it a new fresh thread and we'll let this one sink.

thanks in advance :)

Do you really think Mauti would give control over a section of the forum devoted to Community Feedback about the admin and moderators TO the admin and moderators!?  lol

Mauti can lock it if he sees fit.  But after BFG's post, nobody but you had even posted here in over 24 hours.  I think everyone was going to let it die.  You don't always have to lock threads, you know.
