Title: Mac mod wish list
Post by: *DAMN Mauti on February 01, 2003, 05:35:58 pm
Hi guys,

there are so many Ghost Recon and  Rogue Spear mods. I try to convert all the latest mods but maybe I forget this or that excellent mod so if you would like to see a special mod converted post the name and where I can download it for PC here and I'll try to convert it asap.

Your post should look like this:

Mod name:
Which game:
Author:
Download URL:
Short description:

Bye,

Mauti
ps: also PC modders that would like to see a Mac version of their mod are welcome to post here but be aware that there is no Island Thunder expansion pack for Mac(concerning Ghost Recon mods).

Hey Maulti, I found some good ghost recon mods you could covert to mac. Lots of hardcore skins and very nice missions by Monolith.

I don't know why, but I have the NMM gun mod for mac, I don't know where I got it, and I just now realized I did not get it from here.

Maybe you can upload NMM Gun Mod 2.1 to mac, it is a fantastic mod, riot in belgrade seems cool too...

Hope its fixable, read on the site it has a shit load of weapons.  I like guns, what can I say?

Is there a format that rsb (image) files
can be changed to open in photoshop or corel
on mac?  Can images be edited?

Is there a way to get IGOR and get it to work for sys X?
That would allow writing missions in mac, right?

Is there a comparable apple program to 3dMax or whatever they use?

Or is windows the place to be to do a stylish mod?

I'd like to be shootin some clowns and rhinosaurs besides human beins.
The clowns would pop or shatter when shot....the rhinos would run faster.

Post by: *DAMN Mauti on March 29, 2003, 05:53:50 pm
NMM was added. The link to the Afghanistan mod is broken. WoI 2.1 unfortunaly has lots of long filenames and requires a special installer. The MARPAT mod is aced -> I can't open it on my VPC I have to ask Assassin to open it for me.

About IGOR and other mod tools - no chance to get them working on a Mac the only way you could try it is via VPC that has access to your Mac Ghost Recon data via virtual network harddisk.

Mauti

Thanks Mauti for the the VPC tip...
I will try this as I have an apple network
but canNot get windows to connect to it....
and reallly do want to do  a shoot-the-clowns mod...
Have jaguar and am enrolled in the apple developer's program
but I haven't been able to figure out  System X11 yet...
System x11 promises to be able to play windows apps
with open glide at real time (!)(?).  This seems
to offer much, no?  X11 is a beta program...
do you have a suggestion for a Particular
vpc program?  X11 gives me an appley
looking blank page that suggests I
could maybe ask it to install a
program...have too much
time and am willing to
share anything I
learn...and have
crabby cousins
at silicon graphics
who said they would
help when I achieve a
market level mentality...lol.
                                   Froyla
(I have virtual dos too but can't remember
any helpful commands.........)

Post by: *DAMN Mauti on April 02, 2003, 08:13:25 am
As far as I know X11 only helps to convert and run Unix and Beos apps(i.e. Linux apps) native in MacOSX but not windows apps.

I am just curious, is there a way to make frostbite run on our lttle OS X boxes without IT, or did I recently just f*** myself over by buying a few cds(instead of purchasing Island Thunder).

Title: Re:Mac mod wish list

No way except you would put all IT data that Frostbite uses, and that's a lot into, the frostbite folder but wouldn't that also require that you own/have Island Thunder for Mac!?

Frostbite will run without IT,but only for firefights. Also All Out War and Desert Marpat work fine for me without IT.And if you want it takes 2 seconds to get the threat indicator to work in Frost bite,if you delete the right .rsb

C$k British Commandos is a decent conversion, I tried the one offered at house of leary, but it had alpha map problems, long filename problems, so I promptly deleted, but it is still a good new mod.

Not making a request, just interesting to see the mod "Payback" here, might be interesting, I hope it is not too distasteful for me (well, I thought that a mod like operation Iraqi Freedom was), but it is from sixpence and his group (not sure about group, but he is the only name I can remember at this hour). I'll give it a try, anything  until my copy of Tft comes in the mail, or d2x 1.10 comes out?

(I was aiming at a good job sort of post but just lost track, it's getting late, and I've been up for 20+ hours, sleep sounds like a good solution)

In response to spider: I don't select mods by their content, for me this is only a game. There were few Osama Bin Laden mods as well and I all put them on simply because they have some great missions and maps.

The problem with this is just that if someone was going to cheat, then all they would have to do is copy the data files from their origmiss folders, into the mod...not very useful.

Just wondering, has anyone ever experienced a person using hacks in the mac version of Ghost Recon?

Title: Regarding CQB Mod
Post by: *DAMN Mauti on October 28, 2003, 01:48:29 pm
Hi Mainman,

I just downloaded your mod and noticed that at least 1 gun sound is missing, map texture names aren't capped and few other bugs you should look at. Did you use the converted maps from here? Further your gun sounds are .wav files which should be converted to aif files for better mac performance.

I would like to see a fix first before uploading a mod that contains few obvious bugs.

Bye,

Mauti
ps.: the other mod submitions will be added with the next mod archive update.

Title: Re:New Game Type Suggestion
Post by: gsr on November 01, 2003, 02:48:40 am
Seems like the most popular game types on Game Ranger are siege, battle zone and assasination.  These are offense vs. defense types for the most part.  I assume, never having played one, that in a CB the teams map out a strategy and pick weapons to suit the map/situation before the game starts.  This is missing from the typical Game Ranger game.

So how about  after the map is chosen, the teams each get  some time (1-2 mins) in separate rooms (screens) to set strategy, pick weapons and then the game starts.  This would inject elements of strategy and teamwork which might be fun. It would work with random or picked teams as well as existing game types.

First of all thanks for your work on the Island Thunder info.

I wanted to join a Game Ranger game but needed the TCP map pack.

MAUTI:  i already converted this TPC Map Pack 2.0 - to the Mac side a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately it has proven way to popular for my monthly 30 gig bandwidth and I had to take it down today.    If Damn/Fileplanet were to host it, it would make a lot of people very happy.   I can supply it to you via username/password if you haven't already grabbed it from my site.

cheers,
Leary

Muati, (a long) awile ago I posted about a paintball mod, and so far nothing has been done about it.

I got my VPC to work, I put the mod in a zip file and converted all the sound files but when I switch through to weapons on the soldier Selection and it crashes.

Ive checked the mod and im sure there is no files with more than 31 characters. I guess the problems with the gun file but if you could give me any advice I would be very thankfull.

Dark uk,

hmm it seems your version has the same problem, the gun Graphics are screwy and It crashes when looking through them?

Title: Re:Mac mod wish list
Post by: *DAMN Mauti on January 05, 2004, 06:41:16 pm
Yep most kit pics are screwed but that's due alpha channels and bad modding on the PC side. Further most guns have missing textures, not due bad converting, few models never got textures. If you look at the lke.log file you see that the models even doesn't ask for the textures.

However it doesn't crash here. I have looked at all guns and I also played few rounds without any problems.

When does it crash exactly!?

Try start GhR with Paintball
Go to quick missions
select one of the new Paintball maps
make a teamselection and start.

I can do this without any issues...

I gonna try out normal missions now too but the Paintballmissions are working.

I had repeated crashes until I removed
the kits for the guns not done by the guy who
released the mod...i.e. guns "pb1, pb2, pb3, pb4
pb5, the sniper, and the m203" work....
the "angel gun" works 50% of time and seems
to be causing crashes...especially if you replay
mission (why???).  I think maybe it was
supposed to not have a texture...to make it
look more angelic...

I've tried it with 7 or 8 other mods and love what it does
to some of the other "regular" guns...it removes a bunch of sounds
by replacing them with one sound.  I removed the replacement
sounds to allow original ones to work, and much of the new lag
disappeared

In Glassrooms the 40mmgl blasts don't appear...except outside
the glass area.

First day I played it on the ship map (excellent!) the
ship had purple bunting on the stern...it has not reappeared
since....wtf.

The bank down the block from the embassy looks good painted yellow.
Any way I could rotate the colors the missiles make in the same way
the bullet blasts do (rotate colors)?  Would that possibly be in the
qob. file, or is that set by that weird vcl. file?  What else can a vcl do?

Yo,
1) The War Of Infamy mod was a great idea, similar to the DoD best-seller-
In a further released version of Ghr, adding developped context (Script stories), Old weapons, etc..The storyboard of ghost recon doesn't have a lot of influence on me, but it does for most of players - could be a big stairway for mod = develloping strategical situations in the name of special 'stories' -Do anybody practice Chess and train by using some Old and famous Chess tournament situations ?  (i ve heard of archer weapons, by the way ? :)
2) More interactivity with game linked objects will be welcome = i mean, just let the interactive action (opening doors, cars) a greater place...What about Jumping in Ghost Recon II ?
(of course if you can jump, maybe you can also be a 'flying ghost' in the level oncce you're dead, and that's a problem if you consider  that players can Talk trought in-game voice...

Excellent mod based on the UN intervention in East Timor.
Great new missions, skins, enemies.....all in all one of the best mods ive played. I converted it but theres some minor problems.

I did a full mac conversion of this. Operation Stabilise

Runs great SP.

All the missions start up without any crashes (I had to do some fixes).

Some of the missions even work in multiplayer coop, which the mod wasn't really designed for.  Mission 3 even works in mutliplayer coop, where you insert in a Helicopter.

There are several cinematics, throughtout the campaign that are well done.

There are probably a few more fixes on the mac side, but i haven't been able to play all of the missions to completion yet to see if there are.

Campaign mode for this mod is awesome.  Great concepts, storyline, and scripting ideas.  It also features more cinematics than the multiplayer missions.

Overall fantastic mod!

I will be testing it more in the days to come and I will post back here when i feel that it is as solid as it is gonna get.

There seem to be some issues with a few missions still, but i am trying to work with the modders to try and take care of them.  Hopefully in the next few days it will be all patched up.  The only issue i have is having the download available to the public from my server. I don't want my host server to crap his pants when he see's how much bandwidth i am using.  Maybe we can get it hosted up somewhere else in the future.  But if you PM me in the next few days, when more fixes are made, i can give you a link to download  it.

I can't say enough good things about this mod though.  What a great colaboration effort these guys put into this, from skins to missions this mod is one of the funnest most challenging campaigns i have had the pleasure of playing in GhR.  You never know whats gonna happen next.

Platoon Extender
Ghost Recon
Don Miguel
http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetrainbowsix/atwar/GR/misc/gr_sp_platoon_extender.zip
Description is from ghostrecon.net

Don Miguel has come through with a remarkable tool for Ghost Recon that allows your standard 8 man Ghost Recon team to be extended to 18!
Here's how Don Miguel describes it..
"This tool will allow you the player to configure your platoon to have up to 3 squads (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie). And will allow each of these 3 squads to have up to 6 men each. In the end, you can have up to 18 playable platoon members for your missions instead of Ghost Recon's default of 6."
Pretty neat huh? There are a couple of quirks worth a mention. After you launch the mission using the custom launcher supplied with the mod, you should press escape to access your Ghost Recon options menu, then return to the game - this will activate your own usual game settings. Secondly, to access each member of the platoon use the keyboard shortcut - not the pop-up command map, otherwise the mission will crash.

 8) Tried to port the Japanese Mod from
the windows computer to mac....but it crashes...
What is involved with a conversion?  Looking
for long file names?  I could do That....but
do they have to be renamed according to a system?
Or is there another way to look at this?

Also...I have invented Kryptonite bullets....they're
very (very very) small and very fast and the area glows after they
explode....very lagworthy....maybe a mod for single players only.
Weird green glow for about 20 seconds....good in dark maps.

Am tinkering with a Dinosaur gun that stops tanks...
this is reality based...Fox says they found a tank with
one survivor in Bad Dad with one bullet hole...the bullet
rattled around inside killing three (and took out all electronics).
Also they keep showing a guy in fallojyah with a three tube silver bazooka...silver.
Small diameter tubes, maybe 50mm.  The bullet was harder than
depleted uranium.....The speculation is What?
Reporter said it had to have been jeep mounted.I think the Chickengun would be perfect (sans chickens).

My next project is nuclear chickens.  Did Jeff invent the
Chickens?  Anybody have an address to get permission?
For flying animals I personally prefer the squirrels.

Anyone working on a naked prison mod?  Your mission
should you accept it, is to go in and kick everybody to
death.  Needs a repeating program for standing still
and taking that first step, over n over.

Can one of you lovely guys make a "girly soldier" mod please?????  (for Ghost Recon) ;D aaaaaaaaand if it's not too much trouble, can the announcer (whoever he is) please say "girl down" instead of "man down"?? hahahaha

Some suggestions for mod

hair colour :  doesn't matter just shoulder length and pretty  :)

Breasts?:   hmmm good question. Whatever, doesn't worry me. If you do, just not too big, coz us girls can't run too fast otherwise. :)

Body shape: If you don't know what a girl's body looks like,
please don't make this mod lol. And not too GIRLIE!! please. (maybe a little like the gals on UT)

Movement: Watch her shake her bootay!! lol nah, again not too girlie. Maybe just stays the same.

Uniform: Some distinction from the male uniform.......perhaps some red or pinks bits (ewwww that sounded rude hehe)

Overall, not too much of a change to the original soldier please.

hmmmm me thinks I'm asking for miracles!!!!

oh well, would be nice......and this is a wish list!!!

Could you please convert White Skull Valley.

Its a map you can find on gr.net. I asked there for someone to convert it to a zip but the texture names need shortened and I guess thats where you come in.

Thanks in advance.

I already tried it, but the textures are saved in a weird format. One of the PC creators told me that he will change it for me, but he never did -> no Mac version until now.

Bye,

Mauti

You wouldnt know what format the textures have to be saved in do you?

Hi,

the textures need to be saved with A4R4G4B4 instead of A1R5G5B5 (Alpha, Red, Green, Blue) channels.

From my Mac article over at GR.net:
Quote
....textures saved in with A1R5G5B5(Alpha/Red/Green/Blue) channels can screw your gaming  experiences.

Filenames need to be shortened, audio  files converted to .aif and textures  resaved as A4R4G4B4 or A8R8G8B8.

I contacted Zeko, back in the days when WS was just released, and he wanted to do it but obviously he was/is very busy. To shorten the long texture names is no problem, i just need the textures with the right channels.

Bye,

Mauti

@ Any random converter:

101st Airborne Division 2009
http://www.atwar.net/download.php?view.605

Just drop that onto Virtual PC, install it, then copy to Mac, and zip it.. then give to Mauti. Its in working order already. :D I downloaded a few nights ago. I'd give to Mauti myself but I'm 56k. :S

Title: Sixpence SEALs/USMC Force Recon?
Post by: Pfarrer on May 17, 2005, 12:36:52 am
Is it possible to get the Sixpence Navy SEALs 1.2 and USMC Force Recon 1.0 mods for the Mac? I can download them and unzip them using VPC, but some of the textures come out looking like this (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y136/Pfarrer/Bad_Textures_1.jpg).

I'd love to be able to see all the textures.

Oops. Just saw how to do this:

Mod name:  NAVY SEALS 1.51
Which game: Ghost Recon
Author: Sixpence
Download URL: http://www.rainbowsix.org/dl/download.php?file_id=810
Short description: Character/weapon mod for Navy SEALs

Mod name: USMC Force Recon 1.0
Which game: Ghost Recon
Author: Sixpence
Download URL: http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetrainbowsix/atwar/GR/equipment/usmc_fr_v10.zip
Short description: Character/weapon mod for USMC Force Recon

Well, I don't know where this mod is or if it even exists. but I would love to have a mod that randomly picks everyone's kit (except support).  You would have no idea what kit you had or what type soldier (e.g. rifleman, demo, or sniper) until the game started.  I t hinkit would be fun.  People have said this mod exists, but I can't find it anywhere.

Another mod that I would like (and don't think exists) would be one where everyone got one clip of ammo...no more...

OOops.. Probably just made a blank post. Please delete it moderator.

Anywho:

Pfarrer: USMC Marine Expeditionary Unit has been ported by me. I just haven't got a decent connection until recently to give it to Mauti. I'll be trying to contact Mauti about getting it on here ASAP.
Since you have one post and it was a while ago, I'll email you as soon as its up, assuming you have your email available to the forums...

wWeedWacker: Sorry I can't help. No idea about either of those mods, although making a mod with only 1 clip of ammunition is quite a simple adjustment to make.

Hi goofywck,

at all you can use the GRPA 4.1 mod for PC as well. You may only want to convert all sounds from aiff to wav format. That's it. I'll try to upload a version that includes both in the next days.

Bye,

Mauti

it works. kind of.
if i'll deactivate it before starting the game it's god and i can aktivate it and then host the game.
but if it's active when starting game it crashes.
not hard to obey so there is no real problem but i took some time to find out.

Hmm of course that shouldn't be, but better than nothing. The mod requires the latest Ghost Recon patch(1.4) and the Ghost Recon expansion pack Desert Siege.

Mauti can you do the same thing with the DBL Final Mod and make a PC download?  Now that Gameranger has gone PC people have been trying to download the DBL Mod and they can't use it.    The DBL Mod .zip you have on this site extracts a DBL Mod Installer that can't be run on Windows.  You need to get rid of the installer.

Someone from another site posted this about it:  "Hmm... How this DBL map pack file should be extracted to get it working on PC's..? Downloaded this file you gaved but it made only some _MACOSX folder & was unable to extract some files - reason wrong OS"

EDIT:  I made the PC version of the mod and converted the sound files.  Here's the file location to download it: http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx?/hst/p/u/punisher/mods/DAMNBLFinalMapPack.zip

I don't know if you want to move the file to another location since this one is on fileplanet.

Sure. I totally forgot about that one and thanks for the work. I gonna add your version to the PC downloads and may also upgrade the Mac version so it doesn't have an installer.

So thanks and greetings from Vienna,

Mauti
