Ok... so new feature of gameranger...... is a widget

because i am such a noob, and i have absolutely no idea of how to make one, or implement one... it is up to you how you do it, and up to you (non prems) how you test it, whether its asking a prem person to test it.

Who ever comes up with the best GR widget, whether it shows online buddies or whatever and it will be for the public to use, not just certain people, the winner will get premium from me. It has to be user friendly and look good.

so... its up to you guys.

::edit:: don't post the ideas on here though, i will figure a way of judgeing the widgets on gameranger, probably a panel of 3 people

GS, to let you know, soon after I got Tiger, I spread forth the idea of a GameRanger widget in chat room sand the main chat.  So this isn't something that's "tangible."  Besides, I expect 80 Proof to do the best one. I put 50 bucks on him.

Blitz, just for the record, there was extensive discussion in the Command Bunker after WWDC 2004 with scott about widget support. I believe scott's only comment was that if people want them they would have to make them themselves.

You guys didn't create an idea about making one, you just talked about widget support. So my statement is still valid.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough, we discussed with scott what he could and could not include in a GR widget. There is hardly a difference in discussing what he should include in the widget, and saying the word make (though I'm sure it was said).

Anyone make one yet?  ???  Cool idea, I would do it if I knew how and the prize couldn't have come from a better Mac person (excluding GS, he has been generous  as well)  ;D

Civic mentioned he was making one a while back when we were talking about upgrading to Tiger - think you were doing on so you could see which of the z][t guys were online wasn't it civic?
Presumbably you can make a relativly simple widget where you can add/remove GR accounts to see who's online etc. As far as i know widgets are made with some pretty simple coding - youve got the core of the widget, some javascript then some html and .css ...

actually there is some great info on building your first widget here (http://dashdev.djupet.se/index.php) for anyone who's interested. - i was reading through and there are some nifty little things - like when your packaging up your widget files you put them in a folder say mywidget and put .wdgt at the end - the OS will automatically then package the folder up in to a widget bundle! neat!  :)

I thought i might tackle one when ive got some free time next week. should be a good laugh!  ::lol::

80 Proof made one about a month ago for Plagued Ops...  Ask him.

ok doke... after nearly 2 and half weeks of waiting... comp has ended... no submissions no winners apart from my bank balance.

Pity... I'd have loved a litle GR widget that would have shown which of my budds were online  :(

wiggy, Im sure someone would gladly submit one... they may take some time though... maybe a lil later everyone will be out of skool and itching to do something nerdy like make a widget (or post on this forum)

Well I would have tried a bit harder if Evill would have released a frickin java reference. It's a bit hard trying to guess everything.

Maybe someone can create a widget for clans where you dont have to update manually? Is that possible?

Well might be able to do a widget which takes the information from the "user online".
But then you would have to put in the name and account number manually, maybe in the back of the widget.

Maybe, you guys can make a widget for the DAMN BL.
