Title: Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on September 29, 2004, 04:45:04 am Well, as some of you may know, I've been trying to get back on active duty since the terrorist attack of September 11. They have repetedly refused to let me back on active duty because I've been out too long (I received an Honorable Discharge on Sept 18, 1998).
I've recently found a way to get back into the military, but only by joining one of the Reserve branches of the military. Since I can't stand the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard....that leaves only the Reserve branches of the Army and Air Force. I served 4 years on active duty in the Army, from 1990 to 1994....and then 4 years on active duty in the Air Force, from 1994 to 1998. So I know these two branches well, and I could go into a similar career field in either one of them if I went back (Special Forces/Airborne/Rangers/Radio Communications in the Army or Flight Operations/Combat Controller in the Air Force). So, which should I choose? -GhostSniper Out. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: Blitz on September 29, 2004, 05:00:29 am I say join the Army. And when that is done, run for the presidency in 2008 against the little fuck Clinton. Fuck her and her bullshit! AC UNITE!

Gotta join BTs to get in my will....and right now we are NOT recruiting. :( Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: *DAMN Bondo on September 29, 2004, 07:48:50 am I voted for the die option because it is the silly answer (not silly literally obviously, but just in its inclusion.)
I figure you'd be the better judge of what to join. I think I'd lean towards the Navy if I were to consider service. In a different world I could see myself joining the forces...one where I trusted the commander in chief and one where the military didn't discriminate against homosexuals (I'm not gay but I'm a gay rights activist.) Anyway, I won't even begin to hold your service against you...I will however hold your support for Bush against you. ;) Blitz, John Kerry will be the Democratic incumbent in 2008. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: crypt on September 29, 2004, 12:58:48 pm Blitz, John Kerry will be the Democratic incumbent in 2008. And GhostSniper will run against him and beat him. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: BFG on September 29, 2004, 02:19:29 pm 1. get a pipe

We've lost too many fathers already. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on September 29, 2004, 08:35:05 pm Don't go. We've lost too many fathers already. Wow, you sometimes really surprise me Six. Just when I think I've seen some really crazy post from you, I see something really well thought out like that. ;) Don't worry guys....I'm just going into the Reserves, and the particular units I am looking at joining probably won't be getting activated anytime soon. Besides, I will probably be utilized more in a training role to help get the younger guys proficient in their jobs. Me actually seeing combat again is very very slim. And yes, BFG....and Bobby....I have already seen combat (Kosovo), so I do know what I'm talking about when I speak about war. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: BFG on September 29, 2004, 09:05:22 pm Crypt not meaning to be offensive in any way but if you want to do something valuable with your life or be of real use to your country why dont you get out there and educate yourself, learn about the world and the people that live in it rather than spend a chunk of your life learning how to kill them?

Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on September 30, 2004, 01:32:46 am Crypt not meaning to be offensive in any way but if you want to do something valuable with your life or be of real use to your country why dont you get out there and educate yourself, learn about the world and the people that live in it rather than spend a chunk of your life learning how to kill them? I happen to think that serving your country in their military is one of the most noble professions a person can choose to do. Just because you don't think so, you shouldn't hinder someone else's desire to do so. And, the military isn't just about killing people...there are far more non-combat jobs than combat jobs. It is a way for a person to get a great education (they will pay you to go to college, as they did for me), learn skills that you can use in civilian life, and it also teaches discipline and will help you later in life in more ways than you can imagine. My military service, the lessons it taught me, and the discipline I gained from it, are the reasons I have done so well in life. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: *DAMN Bondo on September 30, 2004, 01:48:53 am I think BFG is a bit out of line for blaming the US military what is really a problem with the civilian leadership, i.e. Bush. Not that you'd agree with the blaming of Bush GS. But the US military (and militaries in general) have done a lot of very good things for the world and for our country, more often without the use of guns than with them, though sometimes they do need to use them.
Like I said earlier, I might consider the military if they didn't discriminate based on sexuality and if I could at least think if I was going to have to think about killing, it would be for a cause I support. Title: Re:Which Branch Should GhostSniper Join? Post by: BFG on September 30, 2004, 02:01:01 am True Bondo i was wrong to say the US military - it comes down to Bush and the Amdinistration who decided that they were going to deny these people their rights under the geneva convention - (yes they should be under the geneva convention) let alone quite simply their rights as human beings.
To lay the blame for that on the military is wrong - its the guys calling the shots who are to blame. |
