Title: Halo Battle League?
Post by: spike on July 21, 2004, 02:23:37 am
Does anyone know a good halo battle league? preferably filled with mac players. I've been playing a lot, but I can't seem to find a good community to join. any ideas?

i doubt that a Mac Halo league would be ever really active enough without GameRanger support. i dunno about any halo leagues with active mac players...

A mac league does not exist and frankely thats a good thing. Just play the game till Ventrilo or Teamspeak releases then head to a PC clan. Trust me, the PC gaming community is alot better then the Mac Gaming Community......less whining and less problems. Thats my 2 cents.

More people who have no idea what they're talking about, more people who couldn't graduate from high school if their lives depended on it, and more people who make Crapid look thin. Yup, you'll fit right in, Rebel.

What experiences have you had to make you bash PC communities so bad.... typhy?

Unlike the mac community, which have people hating eachother just because of the different games eachother plays, on the pc, there is a seperate community for every game. I prefer it over the mac community by far.

I prefer knowing almost everyone who plays in major clans than going blindly into a CB with assholes (My AA experiences).

I own a PC and let me tell you, there is no community. It's a huge hacker, camper cheat fest. and it sucks.

and it?d be even less active than the RvS ladder (RvS has GR support at least)... not even mentioning the AA ladder... no GR support = no success respectively no ladder activity.

I just don't think there is or would be enough interest - and yeah without the advantages of being able to host rooms etc and eveything that GR does, i think the ladder will do little more than what AA did.... nothing

The reason the AA ladder wasn't active is because you banned the one clan that would have made it active (the BattleTek Squad).  We even bought a server just so there would be a place for the BL to do AA CB's.  So don't whine about that ladder not being active.  It is really the only game I like to play anymore.

first, i was no part of this decision. i was even against it as you should know... i hope you meant "you" in general.

second, i didn't whine about it... i simply mentioned a fact. i doubt that it?d have made the AA ladder much more active, though. i remember maybe 4 clans, including BTs, really playing that game... this amount of clans can't make and keep a ladder active, with or without server(s).

i thought the game was basically finished. the army ran out of money to make it or something?

there was a rumour that they?d discontinue developing AA for Macintosh... i think cuz of not enough money. not sure what the actual status is...

Not yet.  Right after that rumor started going around, AA released the newest version for the PC and Mac at the same time.  So maybe in the future, but for now they are still supporting the Mac.

Not being funny, but that wouldn't have made a difference - you need more than one clan to make a ladder active. - hell you need more (i think) than 8 clans to make a ladder active... - the RvS ladder is struggling, AA ladder has been dead, the only game that still keeps on pulling unbelievable numbers of cbs has been GhR...

Yes, it would have made a difference.  The reason is you would have had a clan that would have actively set up CB's.  It's just like the GhR FFA Ladder.  When I was there setting up FFA's we played 5 a day....sometimes more.  But the week I was in North Carolina on vacation, not a single FFA was played.  My point is, if you have someone there that really loves the ladder and will help bring everyone together for CB's, it will do well.  But you took out the one clan that would have done that last season.

And yes Civic, when I said "you" I meant you in general.

You guys should all forget halo. UT2k4 is the exact same thing with more maps and better FPS.

Well, if you want to use up 5gbs on your hard drive, and you have a g5 that can run all the maps. I downloaded the demo and I couldn't even play. Plus I don't like the characters. Too friggin bulky. Halo's more....dynamic.

I do believe the iMacs do have monitors attached to them.....

I also would like to state that UT2k4 sells for a mere $40. (35 on Amazon)

P.S. Don't mention it's DVD only cause all G5s are DVD equipped, not to mention I think it was a wise choice over the 6CD PC version.

i meant buy the g5 tower. i wonder how much the imacs are going to go for.

U guys think the imac design is going to be very different from the current 'lamp' design then? Im thinking we're going to be seeming somthing rather bigger - all in one im not sure but i do think apple will be making use of their funky new monitors! :)

The iMac is rumored to return to the original price range (that would be the 999-1299). It will also have a "pizza box" shape, so yea just sort of a new 20th anniversary mac.

Pizza box.... Pizza box? Uh oh!

pizza box?! like a laptop? something that opens up?

Not like a laptop, possibly will be one of them stupid fold up all in ones, but most-likely they just mean it will be shaped like the 20th anniversary mac.

Hmm i would have thought they would have kept more with the very popular look of the current one - but more room to accomadate new processor and i think maybe more expanability type thingy... anyway back to the halo! ;)
