heh, i knew that Apple wouldnt simply announce the G5 iMacs without having something different, unexpected to surprise everybody. Apple at its best!

Hmm, sometimes Apple uses customer ideas for mockups as future things they plan to do. Lets hope.

A movie store would be foolish. Unless they make a Airport Express like link you could use to broadcast your movies to your TV.

well... the iMacs and eMacs have superdrives (the bigger models)... and i think superdrives are going to be standard in all coming Apple comps.

If you do a whois, you can see that some smelly Frenchman owns the domain, not Apple.

Even though this would be real, I doubt the new iPod will have the capacity to run movies, and if you watch the newsweek photos you can see that it is a black and white LCD.

And if it were going to play movies I don't think the battery would work that much. A 2 hour movie maybe would cut the battery down to 40-50%. Then I doubt that Apple managed to fix a battery with a larger battery life.

I don't think this would be feasible (right now) since:

1) would need a much bigger unit for a bigger size battery
2) need a bigger unit for a bigger HD, since 5 min of DV takes up about 1 Gig, and and average movie is about 2 hrs & the biggest iPod size is what? 40 gigs? no way...

if Apple would do something like this, it would have to be something totally different.

heh.. they can out it in other formats when adding it to the ipod... hell I have good quality movies stored on my comp that take up less then 1gig for a 2 and a half hr movie.

     On the other hand, there is that new codec Apple spooged all over during the WWDC keynote. If that lives up to the claims, the iPod's drive capacity won't be a problem. The battery life, on the other hand...

Yes, but you can only watch about 2-3 of those movies, and if you're listening to music, it could cut it down.  Another factor is the SCREEN SIZE, DID ANYONE THINK OF THAT?

music videos or movie trailers would be pretty cool to watch on an iPod... big cinema movies, though... no way.

     Civic, this is true, but I'd bet that Apple's got something up their sleeves, like a portable Airport Express for video, or base-station-plug-to-S-Video cables, or maybe something like this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3647437.stm).

Loth they wouldn't use S-video, they would use Component video. That plus fibre optics would be as good as my current DVD set up.

I wouldn't pay for music videos to put on the iPod anyway, not when I watch them for free on MTV or iTunes.

Crypt is very right, not many people will pay for music videos when they are free. Maybe if they sold those DVD things of live concerts and greatest hits stuff. People may go for that.

Apple would be trying to go too far if they did even color screens, perhaps the only real reason you would need a color screen is for a mini visualizer version like in iTunes. That would be neat.

Which is why they should include an option to disable it. :D

Yet you've already wasted money on the colour screen, and have had space wasted by the application to do the visualizer.

Oh, but Crypt, MTV isn't free, you or your parents pay for cable tv or satellite...

guys... you're all forgeting that the hard drive spins too slow for DVD quality data to be transfered properly.  I'ts only 4200 rpm.  Minimum for video playback is 5400. So, it's never gonna happen as far as the ipod is concerned.

Well, then I guess iTunes MS Videos aren't free just because you have to pay for the internet. My point is it wasn't a good idea.
