Title: iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 18, 2004, 07:05:06 pm Apple? officially owns the domain itunesmoviestore.com... the site was up for a short time and a screenshot has been made:
(http://tazintosh.free.fr/divers/itunesmoviestore_light.jpg) (open the image in a new window to see it in the real size) heh, i knew that Apple wouldnt simply announce the G5 iMacs without having something different, unexpected to surprise everybody. Apple at its best! or is it just a fake? who knows... EDIT: the adress www.itunesmoviestore.com (http://www.itunesmoviestore.com) links to the apple itunes site now. Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: SignTist on July 18, 2004, 07:52:22 pm seems there's a disclaimer that this site is a FAKE... hmmm... I kinda liked that idea too.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 18, 2004, 07:55:00 pm yeah, lol... it has just been released. too bad.
nice site, though... all the links work etc... as if it?d be real. Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: crypt on July 18, 2004, 08:27:29 pm Hmm, sometimes Apple uses customer ideas for mockups as future things they plan to do. Lets hope.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 18, 2004, 08:28:59 pm A movie store would be foolish. Unless they make a Airport Express like link you could use to broadcast your movies to your TV.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Lee.Harvey on July 18, 2004, 09:40:04 pm hey myst... I would be one way to start taking advantage of the DVD burners in the G5's.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 18, 2004, 10:34:56 pm Lee, but that would be a major knock down for most other computers Apple sells.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 18, 2004, 10:42:49 pm well... the iMacs and eMacs have superdrives (the bigger models)... and i think superdrives are going to be standard in all coming Apple comps.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Ace on July 18, 2004, 11:08:53 pm If you do a whois, you can see that some smelly Frenchman owns the domain, not Apple.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 18, 2004, 11:38:20 pm Thats one way to say it Ace. The easier way to spot it's french would be to see the use of "et" instead of "and.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 19, 2004, 01:25:27 am of course not... Apple wouldnt have such a nice headline on the site:
(http://www.itunesmoviestore.com/Resources/alert.gif) Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 19, 2004, 02:12:13 am Something is off in that Grammar...
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 19, 2004, 02:22:41 am he?s changing or adding something to it like every hour... seems to have fun.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 19, 2004, 02:25:29 am How very odd.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Ethion on July 19, 2004, 11:26:40 am Even though this would be real, I doubt the new iPod will have the capacity to run movies, and if you watch the newsweek photos you can see that it is a black and white LCD.
And if it were going to play movies I don't think the battery would work that much. A 2 hour movie maybe would cut the battery down to 40-50%. Then I doubt that Apple managed to fix a battery with a larger battery life. ::) :P Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: |MP|Nomad on July 19, 2004, 11:54:05 am I don't think this would be feasible (right now) since:
1) would need a much bigger unit for a bigger size battery 2) need a bigger unit for a bigger HD, since 5 min of DV takes up about 1 Gig, and and average movie is about 2 hrs & the biggest iPod size is what? 40 gigs? no way... if Apple would do something like this, it would have to be something totally different. Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Lee.Harvey on July 19, 2004, 12:06:00 pm heh.. they can out it in other formats when adding it to the ipod... hell I have good quality movies stored on my comp that take up less then 1gig for a 2 and a half hr movie.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on July 19, 2004, 03:25:15 pm 2) need a bigger unit for a bigger HD, since 5 min of DV takes up about 1 Gig, and and average movie is about 2 hrs & the biggest iPod size is what? 40 gigs? no way... You are forgetting that the average 2 hour movie fits on a 4.7 GB DVD. So a 40 GB iPod could easily hold 8 DVD-quality movies. Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 19, 2004, 04:21:30 pm On the other hand, there is that new codec Apple spooged all over during the WWDC keynote. If that lives up to the claims, the iPod's drive capacity won't be a problem. The battery life, on the other hand...
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: the oNe on July 19, 2004, 04:24:37 pm Yes, but you can only watch about 2-3 of those movies, and if you're listening to music, it could cut it down. Another factor is the SCREEN SIZE, DID ANYONE THINK OF THAT?
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 19, 2004, 04:27:02 pm music videos or movie trailers would be pretty cool to watch on an iPod... big cinema movies, though... no way.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Mr. Lothario on July 19, 2004, 04:48:42 pm Civic, this is true, but I'd bet that Apple's got something up their sleeves, like a portable Airport Express for video, or base-station-plug-to-S-Video cables, or maybe something like this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3647437.stm).
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 19, 2004, 05:21:33 pm Loth they wouldn't use S-video, they would use Component video. That plus fibre optics would be as good as my current DVD set up.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: crypt on July 19, 2004, 05:23:34 pm I wouldn't pay for music videos to put on the iPod anyway, not when I watch them for free on MTV or iTunes.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 19, 2004, 05:30:01 pm Crypt is very right, not many people will pay for music videos when they are free. Maybe if they sold those DVD things of live concerts and greatest hits stuff. People may go for that.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: crypt on July 19, 2004, 07:05:33 pm Apple would be trying to go too far if they did even color screens, perhaps the only real reason you would need a color screen is for a mini visualizer version like in iTunes. That would be neat.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 19, 2004, 08:24:48 pm crypt that would be a waste of battery for a minor entertainment that would bass after a few minutes.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: crypt on July 19, 2004, 09:00:58 pm Which is why they should include an option to disable it. :D
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 19, 2004, 09:43:39 pm Yet you've already wasted money on the colour screen, and have had space wasted by the application to do the visualizer.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: the oNe on July 20, 2004, 12:35:45 am Oh, but Crypt, MTV isn't free, you or your parents pay for cable tv or satellite...
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: SignTist on July 20, 2004, 01:13:39 am guys... you're all forgeting that the hard drive spins too slow for DVD quality data to be transfered properly. I'ts only 4200 rpm. Minimum for video playback is 5400. So, it's never gonna happen as far as the ipod is concerned.
TO be able to DL movies from ITMS, that would be way cool though. Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: crypt on July 20, 2004, 01:17:33 am Well, then I guess iTunes MS Videos aren't free just because you have to pay for the internet. My point is it wasn't a good idea.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 20, 2004, 02:07:39 am Is the 60GB drive from Toshiba faster? iPod AV for previous top of the line price.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Ethion on July 20, 2004, 02:57:50 pm omg check it out now ! http://itunesmoviestore.com/
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: Civrock on July 20, 2004, 03:07:21 pm umm... same as before.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 20, 2004, 06:11:55 pm iPod AV WOOOOOOOO!
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BFG on July 21, 2004, 07:36:03 pm In other iTunes[music]store news.... Three very big and significant Indie Music Labels have Joined the iTMS in Europe. Good news! Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 21, 2004, 09:42:26 pm I believe that brings it up to par with the US store. Apple took some heat for that at the beginning.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BFG on July 21, 2004, 10:04:05 pm Yeah... that was a reall sticking point over here.. so good to see things are being fixed up! :D
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 21, 2004, 10:29:39 pm In a timely manner, as-well, I must add BFG.
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BFG on July 21, 2004, 10:46:06 pm True, true... Funny thing is i don't like half the music they will now add!
Title: Re:iTunesMovieStore Post by: BTs_Mysterio on July 22, 2004, 12:56:09 am Indeed? That is funny.
