Title: GhR Ladder Idea
Post by: GhRa> Skipper on April 03, 2004, 07:25:31 pm
I have an Idea for a new ladder.  Since there is RvS and RS 1v1, why not make a GhR 1v1?
I know I would play in it alot, and I think it would be alot of fun...

i think 1v1 or FFA ladders for GhR (and maybe even RvS already) are planned for next season.
we'll see what the easter-mauti brings us. ;D

to reactivate this topic:

In americas army, a website has set up an AAO Tracker, which keeps track of stats and servers a user has played on.   If someone could set somethin like that up for GhR, it would be awesome.  I dunno how, but it would be cool!

I don't think that would be possible simply because of the way the game is made.

The closest we can get is php script that just shows the players alive and the game/map on a webpage -

i had hoped that with the Gameranger ladder stats arrival  we would have somthing closer to what AA has... alas not. like crypt said though GhR and AA work in very different ways so i guess its no surprise!

I'm pretty sure there is a way to track stats in CoD and RvS, using some log files, but I'm not 100% sure about GhR. I'll talk to Rev maybe.

Like BFG said, there is a php file in your ghost recon folder, which you can use to show the current stats of your server.
The gametype, players that are in it, map and kills.

But there is no way to actually track player results. For AA you need to register an account on the americasarmy.com site, before you can start playing. 'Almost' all results that you made on an AA server are send to the army-server. That way they can keep track of you and award you honour.
So AA allrdy has a build in engine that can broadcast stats to servers. The AA-tracker just build a program that captures the data that is send by every AA-server.

Ghost Recon doesn't have this, so its not possible to keep track of the player's results. The only way to do a look-a-like is by letting the players submitting their score and kills. (like on the BTs ladder before). But that would only count for cb's...

There is also an HTML file with the game results at the end of every match. It may be more what you are looking for. Even so, I don't know how we would get it to work. See, the file holds your name, not your IP address. So if you ever change your name (or clan tag) on gameranger, your stats would be gone.

Mb if Evill could do something with the account n#.

Well I think Evill is the only one capable of doing something like that, since the games are played on gameranger.

Ask him, and see what he says.

An interesting idea, though you know only premium members will ever get this.

i've already thought about using this html file for individual player stats tracking, but since only the Name is shown, it is possible to corrupt the system by simply using another players name, and no security measures are possible. I think there is a PC site that uses this, but I don't know how they did it.

It would almost have to go through GR user number...

Well im pleasantly surprised by everyones reposnse to this, and Im glad we've discussed it!  I guess it really would be hard to do wuth submissions or tracking of names, cause people could change info.  I do think however that the GR number would be a safe and secure way of doing it, and it would be cool.  Even though it would not be like AAO Tracker(lol), being able to just see some kills, deaths, and tk rates would be nice, and evill could rank people like that as well as with the competition ladders.  I do hope to see that some day...
