I'm sick and fucking tired of all the fucking idiots in the world who don't use a Mac. Their fucking piece of shit computers never fucking work. Fucking Windows can't boot. Fucking Linux can't get a fucking IP address from DHCP. And fuck HP for not including firewire on their fucking laptops. If by some chance a Mac got hosed, I would have a million different ways to get the fucking files off it. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, on a fucking PC you have to go through hack upon fucking hack trying to fix things, but nothing ever fucking works. HEY DIPSHITS, IF I CAN GET MY MAC UP AND RUNNING *WINDOWS* FILE SHARING IN TWO FUCKING SECONDS, WHY DOES IT STILL NOT WORK AFTER 3 FUCKING HOURS IN LINUX. Now I have to burn a FreeBSD live CD and see if that shit works. Fuck.

Thank you ghostsniper. ace's post was so subtle that I had no idea that his point was that macs are better and that we should all buy them. really, I had no idea, so thanks so much for posting the gist of his post. it helped. a lot.

Other nice stats for you, Mac's have been declared the safest servers from attacks out there on the net, by the people that look at such things.  Linux actually passed Windows in % of systems hacked (so much for their security, especially since we all know how bad Windoze is).

I've thought about putting YDL on one of these Macs for a while, just to try it out, but every time I think about it, I have to ask myself what would be better than just running OSX Server, and I can't think of anything.

Yeah, I completely agree that Macs are the way to go, and I'm stupified by the amount of people who tell me "Macs suck, don't they?" when they have never used one before, or are basing it on what they experienced a decade ago.  I find it slightly hilarious when someone at my high school uses one of the original iMacs in the computer lab and seems to think that is the fastest Mac available or something ("OMFG ROOFLE MACS R TEH SLOWW!1!!"), completely missing the fact that that was Apple's low-end offering years ago.

Regarding security, I've often heard from the Windows camp that Mac OSX is not inherently more secure than Windows, and claim that it's merely a matter of "security through obscurity", and the only reason Windows has more viruses/trojans/worms is that the vast majority of PC's in the world are running Windows.  While I agree Windows should probably have a lot more things like this since so many people use it, it seems like OSX would at least have one or two virii if it were as insecure as Windows.  So yeah, I'm skeptical about this, but I honestly don't know enough about Windows to make a solid argument against it.  Thoughts?

yeah, people always come up to me with my laptop and are like: yeah, i want to get a mac, but i dont like how they work.  I know how to use pc's and im worried i cant learn mac.

If Im not screaming or laughing at them i explain how much better they are. I can proudly say I influenced at least one of my friends to buy a powerbook. good stuff.

I work in a design company and still work on a damn slow B&W G3 on mac os 9! But the main problems our the 5 peecees. They are so fucking slow! We?ve got a mailserver (pc), an opi-server (pc), a pdf-server (pc) and two printservers (pc). The mail-server crashes randomly so if no one received a mail in like 1hr the server prolly crashed... The opi-server has to be the fastest on the lan because it stocks all the images from big catalogs. But instead its the slowest, it takes up to 4hrs to transfer 1 Gig of images to it and when you put the lowquality .smp files in your quarck your comp gets so slow it takes 5 mins to save a 10Mb big document... Today I had a custormer sitting next to me, because he wanted to check the images I scanned and used in his catalog and my comp just crashed. I almost gave my resignation, because of this shit... Then the pdf-server, if you want to make a high def pdf it takes 7-9 hrs to send the file to it and mostly we have to do it overnight because you can?t work on your comp when its sending. The same file was pdf?ed in 30 min on my slow G3.
Then the printservers don?t recognize long filenames or other special characters so they randomly crash whenever they don?t understand a file...

I can?t believe my boss just spend 300.000 euros on a digital printmachine that can only go up to A3+. Instead of buying everyone a decent G4/G5 and put an Xserve with mac os X server instead of the fucking slow peecee?s... OMG I hate fucking peecee?s. Why do ppl always say they are so easy to work on when the damn thing crashes when you want to do some decent work on it. Or when it takes up half a day to copy something on it or change some prefs on it. HP, DELL (which means slut, hoe in dutch), Compaq and any other stupid machine that runs windoze can kiss my ugly butt! For me PC?s are only good to game on... and even then.

Mb I should just resign and find a better job where there are no peecee?s... or start on my own!

Fortunately, the most intensive thing I have to do on it is send e-mails and talk to my BTs buddies on AIM.  Every now and then I actually have to make a document in Microsuck Word and that is hit or miss (I'd say the computer likes to crash at least twice a day, and always when I'm actually doing something important).

Ah but when I get home.....

I sit down at my dest to my beautiful Apple LCD Studio Display and I am then in G5 heaven until I have to go back to work again.

Kinda funny... reminds me of the movie "Office Space" where the printer/copier or whatever it is doesn't work... and the three of them take it out to a field and beat the shit out of it.

One of these days, that's going to be me with a PC.  :)

I think I allrdy have heart problems  :( but I think its more from the coke (coca cola ;)) and the few hours of sleep... and mb from eating to much crisps and doing no sports anymore...

Funny that this should come up now. Just today my philosphy class had a mac bashing session run by the teacher. And I used to think he was smart...

There seems to be a real resurgence of anti-mac hatred lately. My boss and I are about to wage war on number of PC fundamentalists who are trying to completely remove macs from the campus. This is at a time when Mac useage here is at an all time high. I should really post some of the tripe they pass off as an arguement during their horrifically biased commitee meetings.

In fact, KOS Nomad was just telling me about a similar incident at his college the other day.

Lol Hooks, try opening several 200Mb images the whole day and try to put some filters and image correction on them in photoshop. Then make a catalog of 60 pages with those images and try to print it on a color laserjet. You'll see what I mean.

A 333 Mhz iMac is ok to do work in textprogs, but a 400Mhz B&W G3 isn't strong enough for the big images I have to correct the whole time. Certainly when I get home at night and notice how smooth I can change a 600Mb photoshop file and do lots of filters, colour corrections and other stuff with it. Without having to restart 6-7 times a day because my ram got full, or photoshop suddenly doesn't want to respond anymore...
I'm actually even starting to hate OS 9 because of its crashes and the stupid bombs...

BTW Hooks, your iMac should be able to run os x, I installed it on my 300Mhz G3 and the damn thing works even faster then in os 9. You only need to add a good amount of RAM, and mb change the HD to a faster one if you got the money. It will certainly help because those iMacs have a slow HD.

That doesn't have to be a lie.  I've seen the same thing on a 333MHz blueberry iMac.  Good CD's, but it would KP (Kernel Panic) every time you tried to load it.  Probably had to do with either 1) the extra RAM, 2) extra VRAM or 3) upgraded processor to 450MHz.

I have an iBook 366 that can run 10.2, but not 10.3, for no reason that I can tell.  But it to will just KP while trying to load.

Yeah, there was a big trend in Japan to stuff the guts from a Cube or iMac into an old classic case like that.
