damn...martha steward is now a convicted felon and she's going to jail.

i'd like to take this time to welcome martha to the con club!
a few tips for ya martha:
1. the obvoius one, don't drop the soap.
2. learn how to play spades (with an attitude)
3. put your order in the library now for all the clancy, king, and koontz novels they have.
4. card games and armwrestling are a great way to win extra food trays.
5. push ups martha, lots of push ups!
6. HAHAHA! you stupid fuggin biatch! all this over what you probably consider pocket change.  :P

Congrats Martha, here are some rights you'll no longer enjoy as a convicted felon; Voting, travel abroad without premission, firearm ownership and most of all your freedom. And don't expect anymore leisurely bong rips, as you will be randomly drug tested.

yup. but she'll be able to gain those rights back after a few years of good behavior and she probably won't get tested after release. it's a possiblility, but not likely considering her crime and history. i just can't believe she may actually (very likely) go to prison over this. unless it's a violent crime the courts usually give probation to first time offenders. and the kicker....she's not even being convicted of insider trading, she's going to prison for making false statements (2 counts), conspiricy, and obstruction on the charge of insider trading...a charge that was dropped.

Look how low she's fallen for a measley 50 grand.

Now, we need to Enron's (and Bush's) Kay and Worldcom's Ebbers in jail.

Who the hell is this woman just out of interest?

lol....she is one of the richest women in America.  She has her own T.V. show.  She is a home decorater and supposedly a really good cook.  The amount of money she saved by selling her stocks early would be considered pocket-change by people in her circle of friends....which is why this is all so funny.

she was one of the first self-made female billionaires. she was a wall street broker, then started her own catering company, which has turned into a billion dollar business. she has her own t.v. show, books, had a huge k-mart deal, etc...

what this is all about is her stock broker supposedly gave her a tip on a stock, a drug called imclone, that was about to be turned down by the FDA. so she dumped the stock, somewhere around $50,000 worth. which to her is pocket change. kinda silly cause that's what you pay those guys for, to tell you when to buy and sell. anyway with all the corporate fraud goin on, i guess the feds aren't gonna let anybody slide. they tried to get her with insider trading. that charge was dropped, but during police interviews, she must've fibbed a little. cause basicly she's only being charged with lieing during interrogation. this shouldn't call for jail time, but there are federal sentencing guidlines the judge has to go by. more than likely she'll have to serve around a year in a womans fed prison.

before all of this she was a billionaire, after a year of investigations and possible implications, right before she was convicted she was worth something like $550 million, shortly after she was convicted her net worth went down to $340 million. all over 50 grand. and just today her t.v. show was dropped by cbs and the upn. that should be enough of a punishment i think, she lost 500 million over 50 grand! there are bigger fish to fry, enron and tyco thieves that still walk the streets after robbing workers of millions in pension funds and costing thousands of jobs. she fucked herself, not the people.

A couple small corrections cutter:

1. The president of imclone (a close, personal friend of hers), not her stock broker, gave her the tip. Which is insider trading, and which is what started this whole thing.

2. Imclone is a company, not a drug.

Yeah, i can just picture Martha sitting in her jail cell and doing arts and crafts...lol.  Or maybe she will be coming out with a new line of prison clothing....or a show on "How to decorate your jail cell".  I can't wait.
