Sixhits, why dont you just put all the political stories into one large political spam drop box.  There seems to be a new one every day...

I tend to agree, there are too many political arguments here. If spam is banned in the gossip so should these annoying political debates. I've said ti since the first one, if they wanna spam these forums with flame bound political nonsense, get them another section.

Or maybe there could be a separate section (General Gossip, Battle League, etc) for politics. However, I think that this was proposed already (for the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, I don't remember) and the request was denied.

Except for the fact that spam threads are, uh, spam. Spam has no purpose and is forbidden by the rules of the forum. Political threads have both purpose and are not banned by the forum. So there.

This section of the forum is not devoted to gaming. There are many others that are. If you don't like the political threads ignore them, start your own gaming threads, or move to a different section. But don't try to silence someone else's speech.

No one likes political arguments besides those addicted to them. As Rebel said earlier this is a gaming forum.

In response to your political threads aren't the same as spam argument, this is a forum pivoted to gaming, gossip is gaming gossip, and game ranger gossip. This isn't a place for politics, lots of people here just want to play and talk games, and such surrounding it, things that are fun to talk about. There is no "fun" in arguing endlessly between 2 sides that won't budge in a lifetime. You want to continue your debates, why do they have to be in the gossip? Admins should just make a new forum with the name along the lines of "Political Debates" and the Gossip can return to its pre-political thread phase.

Get the hell over it.

If you don't like them, then it's pretty simple; don't read them.

I'm not addictied to political arguments... but I do like some of the ones I have seen on here. Like what was said earlier.. if you dont want to read them.. just dont open the thread.

I figured an open forum was an open forum. If you want to talk about other things then go talk about other thing - post whatever you want to. But this is and *open* forum.

I enjoy gaming, politics, and my girlfriend. Cause I love my girl, I'm not going to go in details on this forum about her.

But politics and games I do talk about here.

Being an election year, and I like the people on this forum, even the guys I disargee with, I will continue to post politics here. Unless the mods decide not to let me.

Oddly, DAMN's site is one of the few places online where I can have a political debate with people who disagree with me. DAMN is a really open minded place and I love that. The various devoted to politics liberal and conservative forums out there are mostly flame wars and discussions between like minded people. Well I don't want to debate the future of my country with ppl I agree with. I want to debate with ppl I disagree with, cause every once in a while, it opens my eyes. Changes a long cherished belief.

Like with Kerry's pussy move today.

btw sixhits, i didnt say you couldn't talk about politics or start a thread about politics, i was merely suggesting that instead of having a different topic for each daily headline we could just continue on in a thread that has already been created.  thats all.

I don't have control over running a master political thread.

Also, to lay in some context to this suggestion, imagine if I did start a political thread. And I just kept bumping it with new shit. It's gonna be some multi-headed fucked up beast before too long, filled with responses and concepts that relate to something, but that something is really hard to tack down. By utilizing the functions of the normal forum, that is, by posting new threads on different topics, it lets people read what they want and stay fairly on topic.

I'm all for discussions. I welcome your critique - but I can't solve it unless I stop posting. If it really bothers you then try asking a mod for a solution.

If people still wish to talk games, then let them post about games...
lately, i have not seen any game talk, but alot of military leader this and that, and sports, and stuff.

these political post, do not block, or prevvent other post about gaming to be seen, and if you don't like it, then don't view, or reply.

i agree with 6hits totally, this is place of free open speech. Even if you wanted to constrict it to gossip only, you are not the judge of what, and what isn't gossip.

So let the posting continue, and let the free speech reign no more of this non-sense poo pooing.

I really see nothing wrong with having a good political discussion it really brings out your true-self and also brings up what kind of a person you are. You realy get to learn a lot about people and what they belive in.

We really should have an extra area for politcal topics they are enjoyed by some and hated by others...why not separate them so only people who want to talk about politics can venture into that section

perhaps a politics forum... but why, its an open forum people should be free to talk about what they want, as long as its not flaming, racial hatred,  etc etc...

Why? Why do we have different areas for the BL, and game FAQs? I came on a bit psychotic about this at the beginning, but all I want to see is a different area for politics. This isn't about free speech, shark, this is about not wanting to see politics dominating this whole forum anytime I log on. What's so wrong about having a different area for politics?

The General Gossip is a catch-all for topics that don't fall into other areas of the forums. If Sixhits starts spamming threads, they will be deleted and he will be warned/banned. That said, Sixhits has been posting nothing but good topics. If you don't like them, you are not forced to read them.

Game ranger and the Damn site is more than just a gaming site.  It is a small community of mac gamers that range from different backgrounds, ages, viewpoints, and countries.  I think world affairs are going through or about to go through some really big changes in the near future that effect everyone.  It's not easy talking about them just anywhere.  

There are also more than two sides in the sensible debates. There is an all more important middle ground as well as a large uninformed group too.  That's where the battles are won and lost.  But I think we all agree on the importance of one issue:  Everyone should use their power to vote, and the best way to know how and why is to be informed of their country's affairs.  

Like some others have said here, i believe this little section of the forums is for the people of this community to get to know each other and their views in more areas besides their gaming tactics.  You are posting to people you know here through games you both love, whats wrong with a little debate, a little conversation out side of "He's over there, KILL HIM!".

I personally look forward to reading SixHits threads, and applaud his involvement in political issues and thank him for opening my eyes to things i would have otherwise not known.

Post whatever the fuck you want as long as it's on topic, no matter if it's about a specific celebrity's beee-hind or a Presidential candidates unusually big wang. S'all fine by my book.
