strange thing happens here after dying in mp:

first the screen becomes black. then, when clicking "fire" or "action" the view doesn't remain on the body: after a tenth of second it switches to next teammate. always.

- no key has multiple assignments.
- it 's the same with or without usb overdrive

so, what could THAT be?

Its up to the host to allow what sort of death camera's are to be used.

this happened to Red Dust on the same server I was - and the server had all views anabled.

I think what Red means is that you can't view from your own body when you die, like you could in GhR.  This is just how RvS is set up, you can only view other living people's bodies, not dead bodies like in GhR.

correct interpretation, splinter. i mean i cannot view from my own dead body.

but i can do so from other dead bodies after they died while i was viewing from them.

so, am i right that this is not an error/bug/whatever on my machine (just to be sure)?

HE told me what the problem is - and I will explain it again.

When u die - u normaly can change the viewpoint of the charakter by pressing "fire" - then u see your own body ( if the camara settings allow free view  or free three person view )

by cpressing PAGE UP or DOWN u change the team mate and with "fire" again the viewpoint.

But when Red Dust presses "fire" he changes not the viewpoint, he goes to the next teammate. That is the problem.

The funny thing is that she did not change the settings, and that it worked before.

We were also on the same server when this happend the first time - but on my machine all worked fine, on hers not.

for a better understanding of the situation i ask you:
1. after your character dies appears a black screen with a note like "press fire or action key to become observer"?
2. what do you see when clicking one of the suggested buttons once?

when i do no.2 i do not see my dead character. but another living player in the game.

trying to test it Holo did install the same software on his machine and he has not this problem...

got the point?

dosn't that depend on whether your dead or incapacitated? somtimes when i die my screen goes black and i have to switch people to see anything (firing does the same).. and other occasions i can just see my dead body....

When you die you have no view, plain and simple. You die, you see a black screen. To get a view of gameplay you Need to right click to get a view of your teamate. There is no bug, theres nothing wrong with your screen, and a reinstall will not fix it. Hope you understand now. 8)

hey Flies, you are a wise admin and was shot a several times in RvS: please decide whether we can see the own dead body or not ;-)

Red - I will check this again on my G5 and and my PeCe. I hope i didnt mix here things up!

every game i've been in, when I die, the screen goes black.  When I click on the mouse, it takes me to a teammates view, not my own view.  I have never once been able to look around on my own dead body.

Voodoo is right, this is just how RvS is setup, there is no bug.

So much confusion over such a little thing ;)

Hi Red Dust, are you sure its your own body your seeing and your  not mistaken? I know that once I die, I see a black screen, then click to see my teamate play and if they die I can see there dead body no problem. Only when I am on a teamates view and they die is when i can see from a dead view. Maybe thats what your thinking of, or maybe not.

but you can take it literally:

after the blackscreen and before the next mate i can see my dead body for a tenth of a second.

maybe your machine is that fast that you cannot see it.

the best proof is: keeping the black screen (boring, i know), waiting until the game has ended, then click. if you have the right timing the picture freezes (as usual) and you can see you lying there (while the screen dims slowly and the team roster appears).

i had this a few times accidentally.

but i suggest to close this topic now.
