Title: Mac Games
Post by: Bondo on December 10, 2001, 11:43:03 pm
Let's have a conversation about other Mac Games besides the R6/RS and even FPS games.  Anyway, the Mac gaming scene makes me sad for two main reasons.  The games are freaking expensive and I'm a poor (well not Romulus) college student.  And secondly, there are no good sites for seeing what games are out, what supports OS X, seeing what is coming up, getting reviews (with ratings and backlog).  All these helpful little things would make it so much easier.  Anyway, I've a long list of Mac games I'm considering getting as I move out of the two years of my life that was R6.

I'll still have my FPS practice with RtoCW and Halo
The new Warcrafts (III and Worlds of) look cool, but they won't be out for a while.
I almost want to buy the new Links, except I always end up never playing the other ones so what is the point really.
Then there are games like Tropico and AoE II Gold that look like they could be fun, but nothing seems to be that next big thing for play time and community.
I think console gaming going online (for real, none of this half-assed bullshit excuse for it right now) might truly be the end of my mac gaming as it is just much easier to deal with.

P.S.  I'm extremely tired and though it may seem like it, I am not high, I hope this post makes some degree of sense.

If this post wasn't about FPS why did you mention Halo and Return to Castle Wolfenstien? The other FPS's you didn't mention was the Elite Force Expansion or Alice. I can't feel any pity for you unfornately because you say you are poor but have enough time and energy to play a game...If this is wrong then tell me...."Oh, im so poor but I have enough time to play RS/R6 On-Line through GR, well your certainly not in the ghettos..."

Poor also means that Bando cant buy every month a new game, also me, this is completely imposible, b/c im still at school and dont have the time to earn some money or to earn enough money. Games are expensive and they are more expensive for MAC

Well, poor is a relative term, sure, I'm rich when compared to homeless people, but poor when compared to Rom and his 8 computers and 5 BMWs (or were they mercedes).  And I don't think saying for people to think outside of FPS means no talk about FPS.  BTW, Elite Force...bah.  That game isn't all that great.  Alice is cool seeing as i'm a fan of Lewis Caroll but the actual gameplay in the demo wasn't quite enough for me to drop a cool half a hund to get it.  With console games I can afford to get a lot of games because I know how to buy and sell used online and make money, but with mac games it just doesn't work.

We need to get ourselves a Mac version of Ghost Recon...although the chances of that are pretty slim.  That would bring back all the guys who left to play Infiltration and all that.  I've been playing this on my friends PC for the past few weeks.  It's incredible.  The levels are massive, the graphics are fantastic, and the multi-player is over the top.  And you can even CRAWL!  That makes for a good game right there.  And c'mon...you know you're tired of seeing the same uniforms everywhere...these guys come standard with web gear, boonie caps, and a friggin canteen.  All I can say is...somebody better do something about this...and fast.  If that game came to Mac...I for one would give up school, lacrosse, and...well...some of the time I spend with the gf.

Bondo - It's 4 BMW's and 5 Computers (Soon to be 7, my mom is getting a new Dell laptop and I am getting a AMD 1.9 XP)

PostalWorker - I totaly agree, but us Macies have bad luck...:

Sad, isn't it? No mac support! Only that POS X-Box shit from MicroSoft (That even my PC friends hate!) and for PC!! That is the sole reason I feel the need for a PC... Well, that and CounterStrike... Oh well... Good day to all!

Sad enough but true!

I am really considering to buy myself an xbox during my stay in the States on the Christmas holidays. The only three reasons for not doing so...

1) no online gaming (not yet - mid 2002 for xbox)
2) me - buying a microsoft product? (for God's sake!)
3) playing with a game controller

I have also seen how much fun it is to play Ghost Recon on my friends PC. I have to desperately remember the hardware problems my friend has every month with his PC, in order to overcome my frustration.

**Unix for stability, Mac for productivity, Windows for SOLITAIRE**

You guys remember that poll at Redstorms site a couple months back?  Something like "Which platform other than PC would you like to see Ghost Reacon come out."

I believe Mac was in 1st place.... *taps foot*

Rom, the XBOX isn't bad, out of the three consoles on the market right now it is second best IMNSHO.  Of course the best one would be the Gamecube.
