What I never understood was what's the point?  The message never asks for money, it just makes people feel stupid.  I don't really see the satisfaction in such a scam.

It's just about how the people who started the chain mail want to feel some kind of 'accomplishment' when they get the chainmail back from a couple of hundred people. If you get what I'm saying.
It's also a good way to filter the idiots from the rest.

Its one of thsoe things people with IQs over 50 can dismiss within .000000001 nanoseconds.
