 i just recently got into the wonderful sport of Airsoft.  it's a bit expensive but god damn is it fun, and looking at the catalogs, all the guns that are replicated are the same guns that iv'e played with in the R6 games.  i just bought a Colt M733 AEG gun [Airsoft Electric Gun]

It runs on a 9v bat. and shoots out plastic bb's at a rate of 300fps. My Secondary is a Mark23 Socom Gun Set. It's a GNBB [gas non blow back] that shoots at 330fps [feet per sec].

These things that are stock, outta the box can shoot these bb's acuratly up to 50 yards away, and with upgrads they can shoot acuratly up to 100 yards away.  they sting a little when they hit you, but not as painful as a paintball.  The guns themselves are EXACT REPLICAS of the original real steel guns used.  They weigh at about 65-90% of the real steel guns weight, and with upgrade can be made to be an exact replica, sans the bullets.

I don't like guns that use plastic BB's. I have several guns that shoot metal bb's, and they all worked for a long time (most still do). However, I once bought a beretta that shoots plastic bb's. It's one where you have to pull back the slide each time you shoot, spring powered.

I had several problems with this gun. First of all, it wasn't nearly as accurate as my other bb guns. Second, the plastic bb's would always jam up in the chamber. Finally, a little piece inside broke off which completely prevents me from pulling back the slide without the gun making a snapping sound and getting stuck with the slide pulled backwards. In order to fix this, I have to take the top of the slide off, and reposition the pieces inside, then pop the slide back on. Ridiculous.

Non-blowback, CO2 powered, and uses metal bb's is the way to go.

I like the AEG guns, no need for costly Greengas, just a battery pack and a clip full of bb's.  And from what i get, the type of bb doesnt make a difference in accuracy.  These guns put a back spin on the plastic bb's giving them the needed accuracy up to a 100yards away!! and metal bb's would hurt as they pelted the body.

As for Blow Back features on the guns, i find that to be a realisitc feature i dig.  It's basically the recoil of the slide going back and forth every time you fire the gun.  And isnt that what it's all about?

I at one point almost got into this sport, but once you realize that spending all that cash going into the woods, and shooting at ppl in the bush, just to have them lie and say you missed pissed me off. Now if those lil bb's exploded like pb's do. That would be more accurate to weed out the cheats.

They describe AirSoft as MilSim [Military Simulation], so it's based on the honor system, hopfully you can find people to play with that are trustworthy.  If it's for competition, like the ones in hawaii, i'm sure there are Refs everywhere.  Besides, people that cheat usually take alot of bb's in the softer areas of the body when people get wise to them. ;)

about a year ago i really got into checkin out the airsoft guns, even started saving for an M4 AEG and checking ebay for deals. then ona my friends got a paintball gun...for 170 bucks-that's like 230 less than i'd spend on an airsoft equivalent. even though it was a 98 custom, within 2 months all of my friends had them. we were playing almost every weekend and i love the game.

about 2 months later, i picked up my first airsoft gun, it was only a Mp5 spring action (60 bucks) but i just wanted a feel for airsoft. it sucked.

now i got a pirahna G3 pro and the tippmann has some upgrades, and another major thing:
 Total Airsoft tourney's in Cleveland, OH: none
 Total Paintball tourney's: 17 arenas with tourney's throughout the yr

yea paintballs and co2 are pricey if u walk into Dick's and look, but u can find deals on just about everything now days.

500 bucks for an airsoft gun that wouldn't prove to hit someone if u did could buy me an autococker ANd a nitro tank

"Everything comes with a price."  The Airsoft guns look very neat, but after checking the pages JN gave us, they're very expensive.

I find that Paintball is way more expensive then airsoft.  The high end guns for paintball are like 2grand, dont get me wrong, i dig paintballing as well, but i reeeeeally cant afford that equipment. and no way am i settling for low end guns and balls and gas.  besides, nothing is better then having your roomate asleep in his room, down for the count, then storming in with an AEG, a couple of mags and unloading them onto him while he tries to sleep!!! then running the fuck outta the room as he throws a fit, chucking his feces at you.

If only parents understood that Airsoft isn't bad. I'd have me one of them in 2 seconds.

I wish paintball guns were more like real guns. Anyhow I think paintball is better than airsoft, for the soul reason that bastards cant get away with cheating as easily as they do in airsoft. Also I have been paintballing well before the days of airsoft. There is some sort of competetion between paintballers and airsofters. I could care less.


I would drop paintball in a second if we had those laser packs the miltary had. Have a real gun that fired blanks and when you get hit, you get your ass shocked! You know when a guy is hit when he screams like a 4 year old girl.

If not that, than we can always do it the old fashioned way with rubber bullets.

After all the Military gamming you've all done, owning a real special forces or military gun for collection would be nice, but there is that thing about it being "LEGAL" ergo airsoft.  when you're sitting there playing GHr, or RS, dont u just want to fire off a couple of rounds holding the real thing?

Oh, Socom2 comes out for ps2 soon, cant wait!!  Wonder if any of you GR whores will be there.  ;)

This is prolly the most expensive sport ever if you have all that you are so soooo lucky.

I just own the M733 AEG gun, and the mk23 socom full set, some bb's, some gas, and that's about it.  I dont have the throat mic or nvg or any of that shit......yet.  next purchase for me is gonna be an Ipod-30gig, so the airsoft accessories are gonna have to hold off for a while.

The thing that I thought was the coolest was the paintball landmines and grenades. I could imagine getting someone good with that.

bahhhhh you need the longer barrel. You can't ft the nade launcher on there. I got a m4 RIS. Has the rales so I have a fore grip.

The shorter barrel on the M733 is great for CQB....so i'm told.  i dont plan on purchasing the nade launcher [which will fit] for the gun just yet.  Other things to spend the tax payers money on first!!  :)

The Tokyo Marui Tracer Unit:  A MUST HAVE FOR ANY AEG!!

basically what it looks like is a silencer, but it's functions as so much more.  when a glow in teh dark bb passes through the unit, it charges it up with a flash of light, then when the bb leaves the chamber, it looks like a laser. it has mounts and adaptors in the package for all Tokyo Marui AEG guns. Yea i collect pretty much anything pertaining to James Bond or espionage in general.  So i had to pick up one of bonds newest arsenals  first used in Tomorrow Never Dies, the Whalther P99.  I also bought a whalther ppk which connery used that can fire a standard blank round. It was an old prop gun i happened to come across via some contacts. Thats somewher ein a box in my attic  that i havent unpacked since i moved to my current house.  

Any who my whalther p99 is nothing to impressive to JN's shit but oh well ( i am getting that socom pacakge though ) I remembered when u showed that to me a long time ago john and it was on display at an airsoft convention. i was thinking in the 4 hundred range for the pacakge.  Though you said u got it for 125$ i'll have that ordered with in the next few months.

Though i havent really bought many new toys for most my funds have gone into my baby below: my beautiful estoril blue "92" bmw 325i. I swapped the old engine with a "95" 325i engine, simply for it has a lot more umph... and i put a lil m3 body kit on for i love m3's and will be my next car. Lowered with some nice 17in yokohama's

That's a Real Nice collectible walther Cubs.  I figure you dont like the orange painted slide, so there are a couple of methods you can do to get rid of it.....  use non abrasive stripper to remove the paint, spray paint the slide with black [carbon paint i think] or look online and find a replacement slide.  other then that, it's a dope gun. but what's with the pic of the car? is that yours?

yea thats a pic of my car i took up in hampton beach.  I making a movie with it and i'll be taking some more pics after i clean it up. I  got mud all down both sides from one rainy drive home on the highway.

 The problem with vests, jn, is that very few people will let you wear them. The same is true with very thick pants. The rounds fired by MP5s are extremely weak, and if they were to hit you on that vest, you wouldn't feel a thing.

You don't really need any "fancy" radios. We use little motorolas with a 4 mile range. If you put an ear piece and mic on those, they work great. You can even mount the ear piece into your helmet, and the mic into your mask.

A little advice to everyone about guns - If you don't go with Tokyo Mauri, you're wasting your time and money.

for 49 bucks typhy, how can you pass up a BH vest? that's a damn good price.

 While that's a good price, I can pass on anything that I won't be able to use, however, if you're able to play with people who'd allow you to wear it, it's not a bad choice.
