Title: OFF TOPIC photoshop problem, looking for help...
Post by: The Golden Shark on July 24, 2003, 05:20:25 am
My photoshop, has a hard time reading RGB profiles, and fucks up the color while in the workspace... the files export fine, and the color looks cool when you export, but while working on the photo, or file, it really it messed up, and it makes it extremly difficult to do anywork.

as a result, my Preview has the same RGB translation problem..

HELP!!!

i have thrown out my Adobe prefs already and that didn't help. i don't know what to do, this has been going on for a few months easy, and i am done with it.

once again, sorry to post in a gaming forum, but i know that i would get the most help here (THNX DAMN!!! AND THE MAC COMMUNITY!! :D)

that sounds more systemwide than just with photoshop/preview...

I've never heard of anything like that happening in photoshop, unless you toyed around with the settings.

I think this might fix your problem...
to to the photoshop menu, then color settings....
where it says color management policies, under RGB select "convert to working RGB"

I have my doubts that that will work since other applications have the same problems, but it might.

Could you maybe take a screenshot of your Photoshop file open with the odd colors and various pallets visible? I work in Photoshop almost every day and I might be able to spot something amiss.

If you like, you can email it to me directly (I only check the forums intermittently).

If you have Adobe InDesign installed on your computer (or possibly one of the later versions of Pagemaker) it is possible to get your photoshop's RGB/CMYK settings screwed inside of that app, which Photoshop believes to be the master command.  I believe it's in 'exporting options' or something similar to that inside of InDesign.

And if that's not it, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/macdsl is an awesome general mac help forum -- they can even answer most OS 9 questions still!
