Title: New Anti-cheat mod question
Post by: Saberian 3000 on July 11, 2003, 12:17:59 am
Whenever Scott Kevill decides to put out this anti-cheat mod I was wondering if it would interfear with other server side mods that someone might have online?  I was thinking of making my new CTF mod serverside but i do not want to if it will interfear with the anti-cheat mod.  Being how this new thing is supposed to read all the files and check to make sure they havent been corrupted I am wondering if you have serverside mods on will it see these and say that they are illigal?  This might be a problem for all of those serverside mods that are put out there, but was never really a problem will I decided to make my own mod.  And now that I am thinking of making it serversdie to make it easier to play it brings up this question.  Hmm, maybe one of you people will know this.

The anti-cheat mod will not interfere with server-side game modes. Evill's anti-cheat plugin shouldn't affect them, either, but that's just a guess.

kewl, I hope that is the case cause there are a lot of people that will try to use serverside mods to try and cheat within a game thinking that no one will see them in the game.  For example, turning the groza into an OICW with amazing zoom or something of the sort.  I wasnt sure if that was the case, but again, I hope that you are right.  So I will try and work on my mod making it serverside then
Thanks

It's pretty likely that Evill's anti-cheat measures WILL prevent the use of server-side gun mods. Stuff like Assassination and Warzone should still work, because it's kinda tough to base a cheat around a game mode, but any changes to weapons will likely be prevented. Still, all a guess. There's no telling how Evill is actually implementing his anti-cheat measures.

He has every right to do that, and so does everyone who enjoyed his work.

to provide an answer to the question, it depends on if kevill decides to examint the texture files for the command maps.  since i cant see any cheats that could actually be done with command map textures, i dont see why he would bother
