Hello everyone. Snake has sent a letter home from the battle feild. One of his requests is for me to post what he wrote to you all. He says "Hey guys if your reading this i am still alive and kicking ass! I hope to see you guys soon. I also hope no one has forgotten about Snake. Well anyways, i would like to say hi to mauti and Snipe, my best friends on GR. I know lots of people and to go through them all would be crazy. so i will say hi to all! i would also like to say i am proud to belong to THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS... it's over 225 years of romping, stomping, hell, death and destruction. The finest fighting machine the world has ever seen. We were born in a Bomb Crater, Our Mother was an M-16 & Our Father was the Devil. Each moment that I live is an additional threat upon your life. I am a rough looking, roving soldier of the sea. I am cocky, self-centered, overbearing, and do not know the meaning of fear, for I am fear itself. I am a green amphibious monster, made of blood and guts, who arose from the sea, feasting on anti-Americans throughout the globe. Whenever it may arise, and when my time comes, I will die a glorious death on the battlefield, giving my life for Mom, the Corps, and the American Flag. We stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we over-ran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers and talk like sailors and slap the Hell out of both of them. Marine by day, lover by night, drunkard by choice, MARINE BY GOD!!! HOORAH!!!

Honestly I couldn't be proud about an army that invades another country. If my Army defends successfully my country yes they will get my full support but not for being the attacker.

Well, you have to admit that that marines motto is pretty sick. I mean, talk about discouraging any individual thought. And since when were cocky, overbearing, and self-centered positive attributes? Plus how can you overrun God and run the show and still be "by God"?

Please don't attack me for being an asshole or anti-American or anything, I've just heard this thing several times before and wondered about what it means.

About the dead kids. It's a sad and terrible thing to see that Saddam is putting innocent civilians, most notably children, in miliarty compounds to die just so he can claim a propaganda victory.

And contrary to the popular propaganda, this army is not one of invasion. It's mission is not to invade, it's mission is to defend the Iraqi people against their Insane dictator. I would do the same for your country, though I wonder if you would do the same for mine...

Look at Sadaams palaces they are located in the middle of the town next to hundreds of civil buildings. Enough bombs have hit those ones as well as Sadaams palaces. - Bombs can't differentiate between civil and military. Smart bombs can reduce civil losses but there are still enough innocent victims.

It's a sad day in the world when people fall victim to Saddam's propaganda machine.

Who built those palaces next to residential areas? Was it the US? Nope, didn't think so. As for innocent victims dying, like I, Bucc, and others have said before, Saddam has killed more Iraqis than the US ever will, and would kill still more Iraqis if we did nothing.

Some people, hell, maybe even a lot of people will die in this war. But their deaths will not be in vain. They will have sacraficed their lives on the altar from Freedom for a just and noble cause. And if you don't think removing evil from the world is a just and noble cause, god help you, and all that are like you.

Now get off your lazy european asses and try to leave this world better than you found it instead of bitching about those of us who are trying to make the world a better place.

Questioning it isn't anti-american Tasty.  I'm just sick of hearing that I must be brainwashed if I think this war was inevitable and is justified.  As if I can't think for myself.  It's just a weak way for them to avoid an argument, by dismissing anything they don't agree with as propaganda and brainwashing.  It's why I hate those statements.


Tasty, you hit the nail on the head with discouraging individual thought, being very confident, etc.  I'll say them a little differently because you are looking only at the negative connotation of it.  But, it's been proven for thousands of years, that is exactly the right attitude for a fighting force.  

Troops thinking they are the biggest, baddest motherfuckers in the world makes them better.  Troops that listen to orders quickly, without question have been proven to be much more effective on thousands of battlefields.  

This is a good thing for our troops, because any American should want their military to be the best at what it does.  Winning quickly, decisively, and bringing them all home is the name of that tune.  And if that calls for them being cocky, or not discouraging individual thought, to keep them alive and make then better at what they do, then that's the cost.


Semper Fi?  It's short for Semper Fidelis, which means "Always Faithful".  How is that sick?

I thought the unoffical marine motto was "Semper ubi sub ubi" Always where under where. I dont know if "Fi" is short for Fidealus, but "Fi" in latin is disgust, so I always thought it meant Eternal Disgust. Alaric lets free the Burmese, they are being brutally opressed by a dictator.

Well, I hope that Snake is doing well cause over there it can be quite dirty fighting.  I was in the Armed Forces myself for a while and I understand how he feels cause that is what you are bred to feel.  Be tough for you're country.  Although on the other hand I do believe that Bush is just as insane as Saddam.  Just dont go blaming the brave men and women that go there on direct orders of the Government officials.  I am proud of the soldiers over there for being true to their honor and fighting for what they are taught to be upholding freedom, even though our government is lacking on realism for sending them there.  So in the end I hope Snake does his job with honor and pride and that all of our people come back safe.  Bush is an ass! Just dont blame out soldiers for doing their job.  The military isnt the problem, it's the Republicans in our country now-a-days that is.

From what I remember (and I am pretty sure of this) it means "Eternally Faithful"
