Title: To whom this might concern>>>>>>>
Post by: Destructo on May 10, 2002, 02:08:04 pm
I have some bad news....

To who cares, or cared, i wish to state that  as of
last Tuesday May 1 2002, Destructo, who has been a very active member in mazda motoring sports, sold the only thing that he truely loved and cherished.

The rx-7 is now located in Los Angeles California, USA.

I sold the car.

gone like that. Out of my life forever.

Why?
I turly don't know, or maybe I just don't want to admit the fact that my pride and joy was slowing sucking the life out of me. I can't afford her anymore, even if I tried my hardest. I dropped too much $$$ into her at the start, and it finally came back to bite me in the fuckin ass.

i'll finally tell you how much. 7,000 for the car about 40,000 under the hood plus paint, 20,000 inside.

*pause*

*weeps*
(seriously, i am crying, and have been for this whole week)

I've been advertising on some internet autions and some papers, and i guess a guy in cali got a canadian auto mag.

I sold it privatly, and the guy drove up from Cali with his friend and bought it off me in my driveway for about 40 grand. Just like that.

He let me take her for on last rip, and i've never cried so hard in my life while driving, i had to pull over man and gather myself. Down the expressway i was flying about 120 mph fo rthe last time in this car. i can remember driving home, and the last stretch of my road approching my house, i didn't want to stop. Everything was going though my head.

-No more late night cruises
-No more Saturday morning cruisies
-No more heads turning as i drive by
-No more car shows
-No more races
-No more good moods in the morning as I walk out to got to work, and see her smiling at me.
-No more running my hand down the smooth paint as i walk toward the driver side door
-No more hearing that engine rip as she starts up
-No more dropping it into 3rd, and let her spread her legs
-No more early morining washes
-No more nothing
-Nothing sits in my driveway now.

I would see it every morning as I  walk out, the sun hitting it the same everyday, like they knew each other.

When i sold it, i stood in my driveway, with nothing but a cheque and a part of me ripped out, and driving down the road with me not in it. the first time ever in 3 years.

I swear, no one was on my street that early afternoon. I stood in my driveway listening, hearing her go away, and hearing the new owner rip it, shifting so badly i could feel seven hurting from where I stood. Man, i just  bowed my head and borke down and starting crying right there right then. i couldn't fuckin move man, dead in my tracks. What have i done? I lost part of me that day, that car was a part of me, and me of her.Never! NEVER! has she given me problems except the intercooler. Always started, never stalled she used to drive me home sometimes. Late night cruisies down long backroads, there was nothing like it, and now it is gone.gone gone gone.Fuck.

I had a deep bond with that car, it may just be a car you might think, but there will never be any kind of bond with a guy and his machine, especially that car, it will always be my first child. There was nothing like it around, and now I am just like everyone else. Fuck i miss her. I want to go for a drive soooo bad.

And to add injury to insult, the guy who bought it called me yesterday, and told me she sticks to the american road like he has never seen, he beat a supra, in his first street race ever, he thanked me from the bottom of his heart that I gave him the oppurtunity to buy it rather then selling it to a heartless company. All i think, is that power by his foot, the roar of that rotary, are fruits of my labour. Idea's and thoughts that came to my brain that i executed through engine modifications and idea's.

He told me, that he is going to put a sticker on the window that states, "Born, bread and raised Canadian, rezides in the U.S."

But, through all the feeling I have had as I sold it and watchced it go, is that I think i sold it to the right person. It will always be in a garage, and he respects her just as much as i did, he will take good care of her.

I keep looking for my keys. Hoping that i will find them, but i know i won't.Man, i feel so naked and empty.I didn't even kiss her goodbye. At least she is in a nice hot place, she will get respect i know it, because I built her.

I scratched my name under the driver side door, maybe i'll find her one day, with my name still on it. HA ya right, i only wish.

Thanks for listening.

i think i'm going to cry again.

I bought a protege now.

bye seven.

Dest.

Now let's just hope that check clears!!!

Dest... I take it the money you put into it was in Canadian Dollars... what about the $40k you got for her... US Dollars?

Either way... just like with a bad break up with a woman, the best thing to do is get right back on that horse (mixing metephors badly now).  Take $8k of that money and go right out and get yourself a sports bike.  Once you feel the power and speed and agility (you think a car can corner?  pssh) you'll be comforted by the sweet whine of 15000 RPM's (a place the seven could never dream of).  You'll go faster, turn more heads, and save a fortune on gas.  Plus, you'll never compare it to your seven like you would a new car.  And you wont have to put another dime into it to make it that fast... it's faster then the seven was stock.  Sure, you can drop 3 grand and put a turbo on it.. or just pipe and jet it (depending on the bike)...  but you don't need to.. not right away.  Think of all those cars you can smoke with something that powerful between your legs.  Think of all the little chickies that want to go for a ride on the back of it....

Think of the remaining $30k you'll still have in the bank even after buying leathers and a couple helmets.

and yes the check cleared!

so grift do those new bikes come with snow tires? Cause if u can find me one that can, then I'll buy it tonight.

Yes, i put all the mods in with canadian dollars, but even with the exchange, that is still a hell of aot of money to drop into a car.

Yea sold it for about 40-45k Cdn dollars. I mean many ppl ,even street racers don't want to buy modded cars becasue you don't know what is wrong with it, and no shop will diagnose a street racer. That's y i had to go a little cheaper then it is actually worth. If you look, that's with all modded cars. You just don't get the re-sale. You get about half of what you put in it. Cause if I were to add up all teh mods and shit, the car would be worth well over 70 grand.

Thanks for making light of a bad situation. lol, you really dragged my face through the mud..lol...j/k

Yes i can get a bike, but it just dosen't have the presence that my baby had. When you saw my car thumping and growling, you don't wanna come a knockin, cause i'll kick your ass. I ate honda's for breakfast, chev's and corvettes for lunch and 1 viper for dinner. (eventhough i think that viper would have beat me..i think he missed a gear)

No grift. you cannot convince me! nooooo! lol evil thoughts

Dest -

That does suck. Hope you can ease some pain with the new one. Very nice story though. Reminds me of how i felt when I got rid of my car (Which was nothing near as nice).  I am getting a new car tomorrow though. Just a 97' Prelude since I am still kind of broke.

Look at it this way Dest....

If you had been on my stock Triumph.. you would still have smoked that Viper... even if he hit every shift perfectly....

If you had been on my GSX-R (track, not stock).... you probably would have lost sight of him in the rear views before you finished screaming from the rush.

All this for a mere pittence (ok, maybe $16k Canadian Dollars).

Nothing makes you forget a woman than another woman.. especially if she's better.... nothing will make you heal from missing your car better then something faster.... think about it.

***SNiPER wipes away a tear.

Dest, the only thing to do now is to get one of these babies: http://www.hottoyz.com/cars/listing_temp.asp?Listing_ID=277

ok ok, a different color might be nice...
Just remember, no matter what happens in the future, no matter what new cars or bikes you get, never forget the seven.

Grift, this is totally true!!!

It's not so much that I miss the car, it's just the fact that I, "ME" did everything to it. That's why it cannot be replaced, because that was the outcome of my idea's and work! Sure i could go out and buy a stock bike and dust everything that even tries to keep up, but, when you have a car that is one of the fastest on the street, and ontop of that, your the one who built it to go that fast, there is not much you can replace it with.

Think about it, your the one who modded and basically built your GSX-R from stock. Shaved it, pinched the tube, you probably modded the seat for a better fit. Now if someone offered you a faster bike, stock, who you be so quick to trade that GSX-R in? After you damn well know what you put into it. The love you gave it?

Your in the same pot i am, there are not many bikes faster then the GSX-R, even modded. Same as me, there are few faster then what i had. At 22, i was pretty damn lucky to find it, not to mention how much i saved for it. Not many are viper killers, well actually many are, lol.

You know every cranny of that bike, you know what works and what doesn't. Could you truthfully answer me, that you would sell that bike? truefully.

What faster car could i replace seven with under $20,000? i paid 13 for her, a 93'.

No bikes! lol

Actually, i would buy a bike jsut to cruise with other bikers. I love how a biker can just approch each other, like a t stop lights and shit. Shoot the shit till the light goes green, and off to thier lives again.

Sniper..
Good old Detroit Muscle...lol

Actually Dest... I'd trade the GSR-750R in a heartbeat if someone offered me a stock Duck 998 for it.... Between the facts that no, I actually paid someone to pipe and jet it  and that fact  that I know how many times I've laid it down at 60-90mph and replaced the parts on it... yeah, I would trade her for a brand spanking new Ducuti 998 in a heartbeat.

Mind you, I'm a little older, and have already gone through losing the first car I built out ('70 Mach 1 Mustang with a supercharged 351c and all the trimmings).  Yeah, I pined over that car for a while... built it up and had dirty fingernails for a whole summer.  And when she caught on fire.. i was sad.  Then I learned how pitiful and slow it was compared to real speed.  The GSX-R is not my first bike, and wont be my last.  I do not have a great attachment to the bikes themselves anymore... but more what they can do.

Gotta remember another thing... there are only a few things you can do besides cosmetics to a really good stock sportbike today... you can't even jet them because they are FI.  Like my TT... I have a carbon fiber can, have tweeked all the suspension setting to my size and style (the front suspension is 7 way adjustable).  I've put on a steering dampner to help keep control on corners that I accidentally lift the front wheel on, and I've had the FI remapped to better specs....  All of which took 1 day.  To make it ready for the track would take another day.... switch the rest of the pipe for Ti not steel.... switch to softer tires... rip off the headlight, tail light, kickstand and blinkers... replace the body plactic (with lighter fiberglass).  Boom.  That bike is now AMA ready (if only I was that good of a rider).  Too bad we got rained out today... we had a track day scheduled.  Tomorrow looks like a wash out too.

*salivates* ducati 998...mmm. Very excellent choice grifter...I borrowed my neighbor's (he owns like 20 racing and top end bikes) and took it down to a figure 8 track and raced that puppy.

As for dest, I am trying to build up a mid-60's Dodge Charger (like the one from the fast and the furious)

;D

Also dest, what color was that car? I have seen a few fast mazda's appearing at the local 1/4 mile drag strips.
