*DAMN R6 Forum

This thread, is off my normal routine of assing, and cursing at stupidity.

This thread is about our moderators, and the abuse they take from all of us.

First off, I would like to tip my hat to the Forum moderators Bondo, Grift, Wrath, Ace the *DAMN team Mauti,El, and the rest of the team (sry if i missed anyone) who are at least trying to get shit in order. These are probably the most active in teh world of mac RS/R6, either on the *DAMN site and forums.

Frankly, i am tired of seeing the shitty abuse they are taking from most of us. Christ, these ppl are tryin to make your gamming expirence a little better, and all we can do is bitch and whine. Now i;m not saying i don't post the odd spam, and get in the odd moderator tussle, but I don't go to the extremes many do, and half the time I am joking.

Ya, so what, they made an error in recruiting Nixon as a moderator, who cares, at least they are trying to do something about it. The BL has been re-started at least 3 times by the *DAMN team, and most of us are still not happy, and whine about it everyday. If it bothers us so much, y don't we offer our services and help them out? instead of voicing our shitty opinions all the time?

Like Bondo says, it takes an hour to update the battle league every night, not to mention, he has to come on the forums and babysit. I know, myself, i could not do that, because I have a very busy days, but even if I was home all day, i couldn't do that. The odd little thing they need help on I can help on, but being dedicated everyday to making YOUR gamming expirience better then it is, no I could not do that, frankly, i would not have the patience, and ban everyone who says stupidity. To have moderators who will actually argue with you is a blessing becasue I can tell you from other forums that I am part of. 1 swear word, or 1 assing thread, your gone for good.

I just think that this is getting a little out of hand, and it is time to really put some of these people in their places. I know there are alot of opinions and idea's flowing around, but there are better ways to get your point across then assing some of the moderators. Remember, they are trying to plz everyone or at least come to an agreement, and you know what, we are all stubbron as mules.

Honesty, Fairness, Good Sportsmanlike, ?FUN.

These are attributes that have far left the R6/RS gamming nation long ago. Most of us cannot accept defeat, and now everthing is taken so seriously, as if someone had a gun to your head, this is the same for me, so don't think that I am just saying this.

It sux playing RS now. Cb's suck ass now. and the whole atomosphere sucks. I would have to say, 1 in at least 10 games are actually fun. I can understand the competetivness that arises in a game like this, because it is intense. But some of the shit is just getting plain ridiculous, more so in cb'in then normal playing.

We all talk about how bad the BL is, and how things should be changed. First off, if you look at the BL, there are not many games played. If you compare it to a PC leauge, it's pathetic. it's been how long, and most of the clans only have cb'd 10 times?! Every cb challenge is rejected now a days becasue someone has a beef with someone else blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda. cry and no cb. That's how it goes. everytime. It's brutal how you can;t just ask, set one up, and go with it. Who ever looses looses and whoever wins wins. No, instead, we have to get our house speakers in and basically come up with a fuckin trade agreement. Sign it in out blood and hope for a win.

How can we see what REALLY is wrong with the BL when there are no cb's going on?

I mean, the only thing you should really care about is your Win/Loss/Tie record. Who cares what your team kill ratio is. if you 5 and 1, your 5 and 1.

I just think that we are getting to comfortable, and taking most of this stuff for granted

because what you put into it, is what you get out of it, and if all you have is a negitive attitude, and devious thoughts and actions, that is all that you will get in return.

I understand it is a small clientel for the RS on a Mac, and most of us know each other on it or are familiar with most of the names, but being small as it is, it should be even better then the big ones, more intense and especially more fun because it is more personal but it's not, and i think we are loosing out because it isn't.

Is there any hope?

But I'd really like to say that the real pain jobs belong to aSsAsSiN and Ultimo... they are in the Battle League trying to sort through all the crap.

I agree with what you say, Mauti has done a great job putting together this community (and deserves all the good press he gets about it and more).  Elandrion gets a little abuse for all the hard work he's put in on the automation of the league, which is a shame because while there maybe 4 or 5 guys here that could do it, but only he's stepped up to the plate and HAS done it (deserves more praise and none of the complaints).  Then there are the moderators, who have been doing this for months and months.. working out the kinks... working out the complaints... and getting next to no thanks (except from a few)  More, everybody seems to complain about them.... and it's getting worse and worse.  So the big thank you and break needs to go to those guys.  As for the General Gossip, we are just pretty much doing the exact same things we did before we were moderators... with the exceptions of cleaning up some of the spam instead of just mocking them about it and occasionally screwing with each others posts (which is all in fun).  Anyway, my point being is Thanks.. but let's point this at the guys that really deserve our thanks in the BL, from Mauti on down.

Nice post Dest, truly classifies you as one of the shepards leading the sheep into pasture and protecting them from the wolves.

Just a note though, I said that it takes about an hour a WEEK for the actual updating of the BL.  That part of the job isn't too bad.  But I do probably spend 2 hours on R6/RS stuff and I don't even play the games anymore, such is my commitment to the community.  But the most important thing is that people should be constructive in their criticism.  I held a Rules meeting to hear ideas about any changes to be made, we are currently discussing playoff or league options in a thread here, in other words, like you said we are constantly trying to improve the BL, but every step forward seems to be two steps back from the thanks we get.

I agree that Elandrion deserves so much more credit than he gets.  He is the true work horse behind the BL that allows us to even have something to work with.

Yeah, Mauti has put an enormous amount of hours into this site. I was around when DAMN was first started and Mauti has always spent a good deal of his gaming time on keeping us updated on the news, etc..

We moderators don't really do much, just bitch amongst ourselves and look important =)

But yeah, Ass(assin) and Ult have the hardest jobs here since nearly all the controversy rises over CBs and the like. w00t go team go :D

I love how Sin and Ult have the hardest job but I'm left out despite me working even harder with those CB problems than they do.  Frankly, I can't even tell if Ult checks the forums (or his e-mail) sometimes becuase I certainly can't figure out how to get his opinion on any problems.  Sin is slightly more active but neither of them works harder than I do for the BL.

Notice how it is moderators that are only replying. But I fully agree with Jeb here. It truley takes a devoted person to do this type of shit.

Bondo, no offense buy you are wrong.  They've been doing it for what, 8 or 9 months (I can't remember when they were made moderators) vs you've been doing it for a few weeks.  

As for Ult, he lost his CPU a couple weeks back and only got it repaired yesterday.  And let's not forget that you have ruffeled a few feathers amongst your fellows (You pretty much accused them of not doing their job).  So they may not be too anxious to collaberate with you.  But I don't want to speak for them, they can both do it just fine.  

In any case, it's not polite to rain on their praise parade.

Thank you Grift for explaining that. I have not forgotten about the BL or the forum, or my email. The fact of the matter is that my G4 has been down for over a month... and the little time that I could get on for that month (my rothers cpu) was trying to hold my clan together, because they were all wondering where I went.

I know the BL is very important to you, and it is as important to you as to me. I remember when I first took this job in the beggining of September 2001. I updated daily, just like you are, so please don't say that I do nothing. You will see a change in the way I update as soon as I update my cpu to OS X (finally) and other stuff that needs to be done. It has nothing to do with me not wanting to do it or anything like that... please don't mistake my absence for not wanting to do my duties.

I didn't want my post to be taken as insulting you or Sin, you do a fine job, but I think despite the fact that I've only been an admin for a few weeks, I've worked just as hard and should get credit for putting together things like the rules meeting.  Sorry to hear you were having computer problems, I hadn't known about that.

Everyone should be using constuctive critisism.  I have the greatest respect for the moderators.  Everyone should try to get that they don't always understand or know everything.  People try to help with everything instead of bitching.  The only time I get mad is unless it is completely unavoidable.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I have asked to be removed as the moderator of this forum.  The other moderators will be able to be as strict or lienient as they choose but in reality there just isn't much to moderate here and I wasn't needed.  I'm sure I'll still be posting but most of my effort will be focused within the BL.
