Also Jackal, I'm giving away free server space to Mac Clans on my server.  The story is all on my web page, but basically, I hate how slow mac.com is, and the pop up and banner ads most others have.... so I decided to take a page from Greybeard and give a little back.  I've set up the G4 Cube with 90 gigs of HD space and 1 gig of RAM...  it's on a business class SDSL line running OSX Server.

If anyone wants the space, just let me know.  Also, this isn't just for RS or R6, but any mac gaming clans...

Feel free to e-mail me if interested.

Those usually work out well Anarchy, if they give you enough space it's cool.  But so many clan sites are on thing like geocities and such, which bugged me (that being my reason to do macclans.com... along with wanting to learn more about OS X Server).

Grif, would your server provide us with free cgi and websoftware? cause i can't find anyfree service that provides me with that.

CGI is running... but there are a few issues (PERL needs to be tweeked on OSX and PHP isn't working well on OS X yet either from what I've read).

What do you mean about "free web software"?  If you are looking for a free copy of Dreamweaver... no.  I'm not quite sure what you mean there.

i have live updating software, and no free hosts can run it

Sorry Myst, I may be dense.. but "live updating software" doesn't mean a thing to me.

without more info, I couldn't tell you if it would work or not.  I mean.. is it like Dreamweaver where it has FTP built in and will make changes to the files witout having to up or download them?  Not that it's a big deal when running OS X Server... since it just appears as a HD on your desktop like iDisk.  Or is it webdev?  Or something else?

Anyway, I don't know what you are talking about exactly, so I can't give a simple answer.

Yea geocities is slow and frustrating. ?It is hard to get the site to work sometimes..I would suggest staying away from it.

I primarily use FlashMX. Gotta love it. My site the former SAS one is pretty snazy looking. I also like Rapid's style. I think he should give a course in webdesign. anyhow I think my site is www.geocities.com/sasroguespear ?although it has gradually become a flash and html experiment gone wrong. It was once a nice looking site. BTW the ceo of Yahoo should be shot. Geocities is a pain in the ass. The nice thing about it is that there aren't that many words on it unlike angelfire. such as www.angelfire.com/tx5/experimentwithhtml.html ? ?Another one of my experiments gone wrong.
Never mind about the angel fire site, it looks like the angellfire people found what i said abou them offensive. I guess the part about them rapin two year old Mongolian children did not impress them.

i would argue that our clan  is one of the best ones out there
hey if our cb record sucks, ur webside should at least attempt to make up for it
i think our webguy uses dreamweaver, i'd have to ask to be shure(there is a liberal dose of photoshop involved with our site as well)

thanks to grifter, i can present you with http://rebellion.macclans.com, though still under construction, we are working on it, and while working we hope to get some better ideas.

as for server space: all of em suck in one way or another. just host your page on your free ISP-provided webspace, get a url forwarding service, and ur done. use Dreamweaver's built-in FTP utility. got the above running in 10 mins, first time round.
last footnote: if your ISP doesnt provide you with some Mb's for your own homepage, he's not worth your money.
