*DAMN R6 Forum

Ok, here's the deal...

First, let me just say that this just started happening today, 1-24-03.
Well, I started playing rogue spear today, and it was running fine...until it started happening....
Every couple games, when the game started to load, the music would come on, I would hear some light clicks in my headphones, the R6 image thing would rotate a little bit every 6-10 seconds, the music would play in chunks of about 5 seconds, stop, start again, and about 30-45 seconds later, the game would load. VEEEEEERRRRYYYYY slow.
I really don't understand what could have made it do this. I tried restarting, but still the same problem.
Any possible solution will be appreciated, but reinstalling is a last resort.

Oh, and I know some of you will ask what my prefs are, everyone does in threads like these, so i'll just give them to you.

G4 iMac
700 MHz
128 mb RAM
Virtual RAM is set at 280 mb
OS 9.2 and Jaguar
Airport with Optimum Online

I don't really know what else to give you that could be of any help. Solutions will be appreciated greatly.

   I got an idea, sell youre new Mac, it's to much of a bother for you any ways, get ur olg Mac and use that... Then send ur new "crappy" Mac to London, and I'll just use it... If I must I mean, don't wanna waste a "crappy" computer.

Are you playing in classic?? Hmm try emailing a tech support place since your mac seems pretty new.

Well, I guess tomorrow I'll reinstall rogue spear, but I don't know what that will do, since it happens for rogue spear demo also.
Bottom line, I'm getting more memory, and hope that'll solve most of my problems.

Sounds like your Harddisk has lots of fragments. Run a defrag application like Norton system works. So your HD finds the necessary information faster.

You can also try to use a RS image(look at our articles) instead of the RS game cd(for playing in OS9). If this doesn't help delete your prefs.

I ran the systemworks disk scan,
"minor problems found and fixed" as always.
I hate Norton... never does ANYTHING.
There's never a "major problem found and fixed."
That'd be something that I might actually care about.
Yah, anyway, my computer still acted like crap. It took me a couple hours to figure out how to get into OSX, because it would always freeze up when i opened startup disk. Anyway, I'm gonna get some more memory, maybe reinstall rogue spear, run some more norton, etc.
Oh and another thing, I don't think it has anything to do with the cd, because it did the same thing for rogue spear demo.
I also took out my prefs, and that didn't help. I'm so confused.

No I don't mean the first aid function of System Works I mean the optimize speed tool, where it shows you the fragmentation of the HD with different colors mixed and after running it(can need several hours) the colors are sorted.

Snipe buy Diskwarrior, it has a great optimization.  Its only for Mac OS 9 thought, but it makes your computer go faster and  you won't have any more fragments.
