Post by: -SW- Baz on January 14, 2003, 11:29:50 pm
hey,
last summer i saved up and bought a 5 g ipod with my job money =)
what i DIDNT buy was a case to protect it, and yep, the screen is all scratched up now and looks totally unsexy now  :(

anyways, does anyone know a good way to get the scratches out through polishing or wax or SOMETHING? i've tried rubbing alcohol, even Windex  ;D

...but nothing seems to work, so thought i'd ask here

thanks

     Here's a polishing solution: http://www.mobilephoneboxes.com/repair_lcd_displex.htm

Perhaps that'll do the trick for you. : )

I just got a ipod for christmas, i would recomend buying a case first off, then you should go to office depot or staples and buy a "PDA screen protector" they come in a pack of like 10. then trim the screen protector to fit the exposed part of the plastic over the screen then just stick it on.

Jeb I think that is a good idea, to get the screen protectors, its more economical and it come with more than 1 in a pack so it can last you a while.  Good Thinking!!!  However, I not a real iPod fan, cuz i'm not one of those who always listen to music, I dont understant ppl that do, i mean the only place I listen to music if ever is at a club or in my car, thats it!!!

How to remove scratches and polish your iPod

iPodlounger, Sean M. sent us a tip:

Earlier today I went to see a guy at a watch store and asked him his advice on how to remove scratches from plastic watch fronts.  He said I should try "Brasso" metal polish wadding. I was a little suprised but was willing to try it out anyway. Got home dabbed it on and HOLY COW, my iPods screen is now as smooth as a babys bum.

A little advice though, the wadding in the Brasso can seemed to make its own scratches, so I suggest using kitchen roll (paper towels) or a soft cloth.  Dab it into the wadding and smooth the brown stuff in.
