Title: Virtual PC, 32' filenames and other bs?
Post by: *DAMN Mauti on December 21, 2002, 11:16:38 am
Grrr, I hope someone of you may can help me. Yesterday I wanted to release three cool MacOSX only mods(MacOS X only because of the filename length). I only have VPC 4 for OS9 so I couldn't drop the mods onto my OS9 system because there it would cut my filenames and you would experience crashing mission and missing textures.

Well so zipped the mods in VPC and dropped the files onto my OS9 hd. REbooted in X and opened the files and bah the filenames stop after the 32th sign although I can manually make them longer. First I thought it was a problem with my PC compress utility but when I opened the zip on my VPC it worked wonderful all filenames were complete?

Anyone knows how I can fix that?

Thanks in advance,

Mauti
P.S.: I can't start VPC in classic mode so I can't transfer it direct to the OS X.

Well either use VPC for OSX or just don't zip it and keep the filenames in a .txt file and just paste it in when you're in OSX, don't know what else you could do really, these are the only ways that come to mind. ;)

Try sending the files to yourself in an email and then downloading them from that.

If worst comes to worst, tell me where I can dl them and I can upload them to Jeb in a Mac .sit file.

Thanks Ass but I got  VPC for X from a friend so I should be able now to convert them by my own. Hopefully just downloading the update 5.0.4 that supports long filenames?
