Title: EV: Nova Post by: Precious_Roy on May 30, 2002, 11:53:49 pm So, two things:
1) I am now a high school graduate. This means I have more diplomas than 50% of the r6/rs players out there... combined! w00t. 2) I haven't been playing r6, or posting for that matter, because blackhand installed OSX on this computer. Instead I've been playing Escape Velocity: Nova, the 3rd EV game. If you have system 9 or OSX, I definitly implore you all to download and play such a kickass game. Also, in the purely electronic/platonic friendshipical way, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!1111 Maybe when I go to college (Bowdoin College, in Brunswick Maine) I'll have 9 again so that I can play on gr again. Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Grifter on May 31, 2002, 07:36:41 am Congrats!!
Another 12 years of school and you can catch up;) Really though, congrats. I have to D/L the patch for Nova... for some reason, this latest version of EV didn't thrill me as much as the first two... Seemed the first two were more interesting for longer (Nova's conflicts are resolved way too quickly). Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Grifter on May 31, 2002, 11:06:26 am I'll see your starbridge and raise you a vellos with 50 fighters (heh, even the polaris are afraid of me with this)
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Matt on May 31, 2002, 03:35:34 pm my krypt pod and its nanites will own all of you :D
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Brain on May 31, 2002, 03:42:25 pm where do you ppl get the missions to get all this good stuff
i spent a month getting on the bas side of each government in turn, and stopping at the local bars trying to get missions to get the good ships nothing showed up(at one point i had only 2 systems that were not sending war fleets after me trying to kill me. that was not fun) *remembers the original ev, where he managed to enslave the known galaxy, in an alien cruiser that he took over* money problems? what money problems? Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Matt on May 31, 2002, 03:55:31 pm well, EVN uses things called nova control bits, when certain events happen in the game ncbs are set. if a certain ncb is set, you will never be accpted into any major storyline.. i think its b511. so if a you come to a place where you would start a story line the string !b511 is tested, if it is not set, when you accept the mission (entering that story line) it will be. keep in mind you might not get a mission because of its availabilty percentages.. i haven't played EVN recently so i can't remember these things well though
:D Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: MacMan on May 31, 2002, 04:44:41 pm yah, b511 bored me too for a while, theres a nice couple of bugs in EVN, but stil, i have flown some of the best ships in the known galaxy (Fed. Carrier, Polaris Raven, Vell-os Javelin) and i'm still not sure if the javelin is better or the raven. (raven has nice space and a couple of fine weapons). but the javelin has that AWESOME winter tempest. hmm, i'll keep tabs on this thread, since there is too much to talk about in one of my posts (grif may be able to fit it all into one long one ;) )
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on May 31, 2002, 06:09:45 pm i'll meet you all in battle with my Thunderforge and 6 Polaris Raven escorts ;D
P.S. I did not use plug ins/cheats to obtain them Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: *NADS Capt. Anarchy on May 31, 2002, 07:39:30 pm lowly me, i wub EVN, but thus far i have been too cheap to register it. Now i have to run away from Capn' Hector every time i leave a planet. Ahhh, i'ts cheap, but i'm cheaper. Best i've gotten was a scarab, i think. And i had a majorly upgraded manticore that kicked some ass.
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Grifter on May 31, 2002, 11:55:45 pm I actually got my vellos javalin before I even registered it... I lucked into the Vellos missions my first time out.
And since I didn't use a mod to get them either Sin... I'll put my Javalin with it's 50 darts (and the rest of my escorts.. heh.) up aganst anything out there. Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Brain on June 01, 2002, 12:32:52 am lucky sheep shagging bastard
i was trying to get those missions and i couldnt *grumble about how grifer is a lucky sob* Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on June 01, 2002, 12:46:46 am Vellos starts on Earth when you land...someone will ask you to take a look at the Vellos homeworld.
Missions Completed: Federation Rebellion Vellos only 3 more to go... P.S. I could take you grift (9 mantas per Raven * 6 = 54). Also, those cannons on the Thunderforge go through shielding and rip armor to hell ;D Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Grifter on June 01, 2002, 12:57:52 am Gotta catch me first... nothing faster then the Vello's.. and the weapons aint no slouch either. Especially since after you register it, you can add other weapons (or keep all the Vellos weapons in a different ship)...
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: .p u n i s h e r. on June 01, 2002, 11:17:30 am ev nova sucks badly, i cant never destroy the enemie :(
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Brain on June 01, 2002, 02:22:48 pm i think that has to do with player skill rather than game design
my starbridge reliably takes down carriers(1 but not 2, not enough armor) it still hurts like a bitch though(25% armor left) an so i stick to the philosophy thet discression is the better of valor, and choose my fights very carefully also try hit and run tatics if you are a manuverable ship Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Geek USA on June 02, 2002, 06:41:49 pm i think the first 2 EVs were far better then the others. i dont know, maybe its just me, or how old i was when i first started playing, but they were just more interesting and unique.
i wish they never dumped the idea for EV online too, that would be the coolest thing ever. yeah i need to pay for ev nova so i can resume play and finish a few campaigns. Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: *NADS Lo$eMoney on June 03, 2002, 05:17:44 am sin how did u capture a raven? i mean u cannot disable it, doesnt it just say shields down? Or do i impatiently blast the shit out of it and not notice when it's disabled?
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Brain on June 03, 2002, 10:10:34 pm what a fu(king moron...
Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on June 04, 2002, 08:59:29 pm Quote sin how did u capture a raven? i mean u cannot disable it, doesnt it just say shields down? ?Or do i impatiently blast the shit out of it and not notice when it's disabled? You isolate them, hit them until it says shields down...then do one of two things. If you are on the Auroran branch (like I am with this account) you load up on Disabling Radar or IR Missiles and pump it into them. or.. You hit them with light weapons until the box around them turns grey...then it is a matter of luck if your Marines can capture the ship. Of course this is not easy and took me a while to do...but the plus side is that I am now controller of all of Federation space, half of the Auroran space, and half of the Polaris space. My armada is nearly invincible. Title: Re: EV: Nova Post by: Brain on June 04, 2002, 10:06:17 pm did you forget to mension the cinderblock that you smacked your head on on the way down?
