Why comment?  Commentings only needed for unexpected wins... Or total upsets in my opinion.. Angels played hard... Angels lost...

They choked, but now I think they have learned what playoff baseball is all about...look for the Angels to win the next game.

As for shocker of the day: Randy Johnson getting his ass pounded as I type this out. St. Louis is up 12-2 over Arizona as of now.

The Yankees represent everything that is wrong with baseball. (excuse my language) They just fucking buy every fucking good player, and the still LOSE!! The fucking Yankees suck ass they are only remotly good because the goddamn owner have a shitload of money. Now, if oakland went all the way, or the twins, i would fucking laugh my head off because they have some of the lowest total salaries in baseball.

They angels had beter win tonight, they are up again right now, Bastardly yankees suck my dick, angels are gonna win. Now the Cubs just plain own...

Yoda, I really don't know how you can complain that the Yankees pay tons of money and still lose, the Yankees don't lose, usually... Btw, "Going, going, GONE!" 2 homeruns in a row. 6-5 Angels. :)

Back to back in the 8th actually, not the 9th. Nice pick Sin, who do you like in the Braves vs the Giants?

I said the 8th tardo...

Braves will win because Millwood has been on fire recently.

The Braves and Cards will play in the NLCS to see if the World Series will be a rematch of the 87 or 91 World Series.

That means the only California team to win this round will be the Angels.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: Typhy on October 03, 2002, 07:50:24 am
Well, Ace is correct that the Giants are on fire, I still hate the guys. Bondo, I'd pick the other side of what you said, I'll take the D-backs vs the Braves for the NLCS. And your AL picks... Just as bad, I'd take the A's over the Angels any day. While in the past, I'm always wrong except for last years world series, when I bet against the Yankees, I'll take the D-backs vs the A's in the World Series.

Well since everyone is throwing out predictions, I may as well cut mine lose for the whole deal:

NLDS:
Giants over Braves
Cards over D-Backs

ALDS:
A's over Twins
Angels over Yankees

NLCS:
Giants over Cards

ALCS:
A's over Angels

World Series:
Giants over the A's

The A's will beat the Twins on the strength of their staff (more to follow later). Just watch when Zito shuts em down in game 3. As for the Angels and the Yankees, I think the Yankees have lost their aura and the Angels will pull it out. It's been that kind of year for the Angels. Now, it pains me to be picking the A's to make the World Series, but despite how much I hate them their staff is too awesome. Zito (well, only guy on the team I don't hate) is insane, and along with Hudson and Mulder there is 6 starts in a 7 game series. Assuming you beat Lidle in one game, that means you have to beat each of them once or one of them twice. I don't see that happening. On the NL side, I already gave my NLDS wrapup, and I think this will be one of the most amazing NLCS's ever. The Giants and Cards are very even teams, but I give the Giants the nod because they have a better bullpen. It's so even that's what I see it coming down to. In the World Series, you think I could pick anything but the Giants over the A's? 89 will be vindicated at last.

Title: Go Halos!!! Angels All The Way Baby!!!
Post by: AK_Rap1d on October 03, 2002, 11:34:17 am
What, are all you forgetting this is Angel's Series!  Angels are taking the whole series!  This is their year and they have their best team ever.  They are playing by far better  than all the other teams and the Yankees are their toughest challenge.  Once they take the Yankees... ;)

My prediction:  Whoever wins Angels vs. Yankees, will win the World Series  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/soon.gif)

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: (SiX)Ben on October 04, 2002, 01:12:30 am
Although this is the Angel's best team ever, it doesn't mean their better then anyone else in the league... I agree the Angels will win the Yankees... No chance in hell they'll pummel the giants (if they beat the A's...)

And why are you calling the Yankees the toughest challange... As much as I hate the A's... The A's are better! As are the D-backs.. Dud... I predict Giants own over A's... either that or Giants own over Angels... Either way... Giants own (I wub my Giants!)

Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on October 04, 2002, 01:26:46 am
In reference to saying Millwood was hot and that was why the Braves will win, I was referring to Game 2 of the NLDS because that is what I thought Typhy was referring to before he deleted his post Ace.

Quit frankly, I think the Angels are the best team in the American League. They have already proven they can hit Oakland's "Big Three" hard, as evidenced by the last two series of the regular season between the teams. The Angels, out of all American League teams, have had the best record at Yankee Stadium over the last four years, and that was backed up these last two games they played (They should be up 2-0 inthe series, but the Yanks had some timely hitting). I wont get started with the Twins, because it is obvious that the A's are going to tear them a new one in game 3, and the rest of the series quite frankly (Twins are 22-29 this year against lefties, two of Oakland's "Big Three" are good lefties...Mulder and Zito).

As for the National League, you got it wrong Ace. St. Louis has the best 1-8 hitters in probably all of baseball, not San Francisco. I see the Cardinals beating the Diamond Backs, and the Braves/Giants series will probably be decided in the bottom of the 9th in game 5. I'll make my predictions on the NL champ once the NLDS is over (depends who comes out, the Giants or the Braves).

If the Braves come out, they will go to the World Series, if the Giants come out, the Cardinals will go to the World Series.

World Series game one: National League Champion vs Anaheim Angels.

Ben

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on October 04, 2002, 02:43:52 am
I'm counting them out because they are lucky to even at 1-1 going into game 3 at Anaheim. I am also counting them out because baby Pedro (Ramon Ortiz) is pitching in game 3 and he has been on FIRE as of late. The Angels also crushed 17 hits on the Yankees in game 2. Couple that in witht eh fact that Anaheim has the number one offense in the majors and the number one bullpen in the AL, if they get a lead again, I don't think they will lose it again. I think the jitters are out and they will explode again. Oh yeah, Troy Glaus is out of his slump and crushing the ball...that is always a bonus for the Angels.

As an update to my post above about predictions...the way I see the Braves pitching to Bonds, and the way Bonds is choking once again, I say that the Braves will come out of this series and go to the World Series.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: Bondo on October 04, 2002, 03:31:16 am
22-29 against Lefties means the odds say they will win one of the three games started by the two lefties.  Add that to their one win already and the win against the righty in game 4 tehy will get and they can win it despite having 3 games against lefties.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: Typhy on October 04, 2002, 03:42:11 am
Yankees are gonna win it all... again......

Seem that you have to look a little bit back to find the Yankees winning it all ;). If they get there, you can expect the same outcome, but in 4 games. ;)

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on October 04, 2002, 03:46:57 am
Not likely Bondo...you obviously don't follow baseball too well. 22-29 is against all lefties, whether they be crappy or good. Most of the wins have come across the crappy ones, and most of the losses have come fromt he good lefties. A good southpaw name Mulder shut the Twins down in game 2, and an even better one named Zito comes in for Game 3...lights out for the Twins. Also, there is no guarantee that they can beat Hudson again, I suspect that will be the clinching game for the A's.

Another thing you neglect is that the Twins have the worst record of all the teams in the playoffs this year, both in the AL and the NL...

And the masses weep.. *Weeps***

That was truely... sad.... Ahhh well, now we go to Golden Gate or 3com or pac bell (i prefer golden gate still :) to beat the braves... You can't say the braves were friggin awesome... they weren't all that great... The giant's sucked horridly (and i can say this... I'm a giant's fan!) The first 5 hitters... got 0 hits not including 2 1 run homers by Bonds and Aurilia... That's got nothing to do with the Braves "owning". It's the Giant's suckage

Well, fuck. That's all there is to say about that game. At least we still go back to SF with a split.

As for the Twins-A's series, like Sin pointed out these aren't your average lefties. Mulder already showed he could dominate the Twins in game 2. In game 3 you have Zito, one of the two best lefties in the game today (Johnson being the other, and both of them being Trojans not coincidentally). Bondo, if you also want to go with the "odds," odds are very good Hudson will beat the Twins in game 4 seeing as his career record against them is 6-1.

You ass Ben, it was never Golden Gate, it was "The Stick" Candlestick Park. Also, the Braves did own the Giants, like I said earlier, Millwood has been on fire recently and completely shut them down.

Braves will win because Millwood has been on fire recently.

I'm batting 1.000 so far, 2-2 with two homeruns. Predictions on tomorrow's games when I get home in the afternoon.

What you don't seem to understand Sin, is that the last two times the Twins were in the playoffs, they were horrible underdogs and while I can't confirm it, the team with the worst record.  Both those times they won.

Woot, the Twins handed over a nice ass-kicking today to force a game 5.  They may be facing the lefty Mulder, but they have Radke pitching who if not for defensive errors behind him would have had an exceptional game in Game 1.  It will be interesting.

Two of my four series predictions (for the NL/AL DS) have come true...now I have to wait for the Braves to knockout the Giants and the A's to finish off the Twins and I will be perfect like my game to game predictions.

Game 4 prediction (Braves at Giants): Tom Glavine bounces back from his poor outing and the Braves offense remains hot and hits Ortiz hard to clinch the series for Atlanta. Braves win...

Game 5 prediction (Twins at Athletics): Mulder takes it to the Twins again as the Athletics advance to the ALCS vs. Anaheim.

*Waves Homer Hankie*

Twins are so cool.  And they beat a lefty.

Bring on the Angels who don't quite have the line-up of lefty pitchers that the A's have so unlike this series, it won't be a big factor.  Also consider that the Twins will have home field advantage which is good since they do well in the Metrodome.

Well, I called Cardinals vs. Braves in the NLCS and the Twins in the ALCS...

Either way, I believe it is time for those Twins-doubters Sin and Ace to eat crow.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.

Hats off to the Twins...they proved once again that the A's have problems clinching series (0-6 in series clinching games). Oh well, I expect the Angels to stick it to them like they did to the Yankees.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.

Yes, exelent work by the Twins. My pick failed. Due to only seeing the Twins once this year, I'm going to stick with the Angels. I expect this to be over in 6. As for the remaining series in the NLDS... I'll stick with the Braves, but damn man, as of right now, it's sure as hell going to a 5th game.

I am more a Brave's fan than a Giants fan...anyway, I said hopefully because I don't like my average slipping...the Braves winning would put me back on track.

I am 4-6 (assuming that the Braves don't launch an Angels type rally and win game 4) now and I would rather be 5-7 instead of 4-7.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.

Oh hell yeah, that was a great game. Between that, the A's losing (yes I hate the A's, even though I thought they would beat the Twins), and the Niners winning, my sports day was perfect. Well almost, the Raiders could have lost. I can't wait for tomorrow night's game. Millwood is going on only 3 days rest; pitchers on three days rest have been lit up in the playoffs in recent years. Ortiz is going to pitch a great game and look for Barry to shut his critics up.

I had a pretty good sports weekend as well, CU won, Denver won, and Tony Stewart took over the points lead in the Winston Cup.  Also, I correctly picked 10 of 13 games yesterday against the spread...and one of the games I missed was because it hit the spread exactly and thus no one wins it.  With this weeks great performance I'm going to jump back into a tie for first in my pick-em league after a sucky week last week.

(teeheeee couldn't resist saying that)
P.S. You're right... A's losing is so awesome!

Assassin,
How could you like the Braves more then the Giants... I mean, come on! They don't have nothing on us... Hell, last game we took over their Brave Chant and arm movement thingy! What'd be great is another year of the Wildcard team taking it all! :)

The Giants had the baseball Gods behind them tonight...inning after inning, they got out of jams and the Braves couldn't cash in. Good job to the Giants - that was one hell of a ballgame.

That and the Braves are the biggest chokers in playoff history, except maybe the Red Sox, and just ahead of Barry Bonds...although I think Barry finally managed to get out of that title as he had a decent series...basically nothing except the two solo home runs prior to game 5 but a fantastic game 5.  Funny how all the favorites lost.  I guess it might go back to the very first prediction I made in this thread...Twins vs. Cards in a rematch of '87...and to think people called me crazy ;)

All you Giant haters, shut the hell up. All you Dusty doubts, shut the hell up. And most of all, all you Bonds critics, a big ol shut the hell up. Barry Bonds is the greatest player since Willie Mays and he showed it. Game 5, loser goes home, and he carries the team like he has done all year long. No longer can people talk about October for him. He has done it. He has won. No more nightmares about Devon White going yard or throws from centerfield bouncing off the pitchers mound in 97. No more second guessing Dusty's pitching choices in 2000. All I can say now is bring on the Cardinals!

Bondo, no wonder you like dick. How you come up with such opinions is even more astounding than some of your political views. Nothing against Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn as they are both Hall of Famers, but neither is in Bond's league. No one today is, and very few in the history of the game were. Bonds is the most feared hitter since Babe Ruth. Bonds walked 198 times this season, 65 of them intentional. That's ridiculous. In 2001, he was facing a left handed pitcher and he was walked so that the pitcher could face the reigning NL MVP Jeff Kent, a right hander. If that's not respect, how about the fact that he is the only player ever to be intentionally walked with the bases loaded! He has more home runs than everyone but 3 people in the history of the game, and he very well may pass 1, 2, or even all 3 of them. That's not enough? How about winning 8 Gold Gloves. Want more? How about being the only player ever with 400 steals and 400 homers and he will most likely get to 500-500 next season. He holds the single season records for home runs, slugging percentage, on base percentage, walks, and intentional walks. He even won a batting title and was oh so close to finishing with more home runs than strikeouts (46 vs 47 respectively) which is unheard of for a power hitter. Dude also has 4 MVPs and is about to pick up his fifth. Really Bondo, if you want to argue against that, please bring me a player who even comes close to being as complete as Bonds. Until then, shut your piehole and go back to figure skating.

What's wrong Ace...couldn't just say I disagree?  No, I guess not, you had to insult me.  You want to know why Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gywnn are better players.  Because in addition to being solid offensively and defensively (like Bonds) they are also leaders.  They were the guys the clubhouse looked to.  That isn't true of Bonds.  He isn't particularly liked or admired by teamates other than that he helps them win, but he isn't going to be helping them out of their struggles.  Sorry that you don't view the same things as important...and that you are biased by liking the Giants so much, but your quick use of insults just shows how desperate you are to argue.

Bondo, Barry may not be liked by all of his teammates, but he is sure as hell admired for all his abilities. Is he some dynamic clubhouse leader? No. If this were hockey that would be more important, but not in baseball. Even though it is a team game, baseball is very much an individual sport. You go to bat alone, you make plays in the field alone (for the most part), etc. Besides, that's not his job. That's what the Giants have Dusty for. Liking Barry has nothing to do with being biased towards the Giants; he is simply that damn good. Go watch Baseball Tonight sometime. Go read some ESPN.com articles. They all know Barry is one of the greatest, and if ESPN isn't a source for credible sports opinions I don't know what is. Finally, I can't just say I disagree when you are blatantly wrong. If you are a moron, I'm going to call you a moron.

Ace, I'm sure there are some people like you, including ESPN people who say he is the greatest, but there are also ESPN people who say others are the greatest...what is your fucking point.  You pompous attitude of your right and anyone who disagrees on something that is completely subjective is a moron makes you the moron Ace.  Now fucking grow up already, I thought you were in college...oh wait, most college aged students are like you, sucks to be me and mature beyond my years.

Bondo, it's only subjective to a degree. I don't think he is the greatest ever, but he certainly is one of the greatest. That's undeniable. When Barry has won more MVPs than anyone else, that alone is a damn good quantitative fact to support my argument. He also has the 4th most home runs ever. Nothing subjective about that. He has the records for most intentional walks and walks in a season. That's about the only objective way to judge how feared/respected a hitter is and he wins hands down. 490 odd steals, 8 Gold Gloves. More and more objective analysis. You are the one who tried to bring up intangibles, probably the most subjective trait of a player one can talk about. Don't be buttsore because I have facts to back up my claims and you simply chose to ignore them. Moron.

The subjective part is in how much you consider numbers Ace, not in the rankings.  So no matter how many numbers you list, you can't prove that someone is a superior player...maybe a superior home run hitter but not a superior player.

As much as I hate Bonds, and as much as I think he is a prick (example: Bonds would not sign a team ball when he was with the Pirates for a charity auction, so the charity had to buy his autograph from QVC and get the rest of the team to sign the ball) he is one of the best, if not the best, position player of this generation.

What Barry Bonds lacks in charisma and leadership, he makes up with his individual numbers. Now while I think that Ripken, Gwynn, Puckett, and others are great ball players, none of them have reached the platform that Barry shares with other greats such as Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays et al.

Here are the reason why they don't reach the levels of Barry Bonds:

Tony Gwynn: Perennial winner of the Silver Slugger award and winner of numerous batting titles. Gwynn himself said on a national telecast of a game between the Giants and the Dodgers that Bonds is the best player of this generation. He said Barry in his older age has improved his plate discipline, being more selective, and when he gets something to hit, he hits it (Bonds is the oldest player to ever win his first batting title [37])

Kirby Puckett: Debate raged whether he should even make the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. His career was too short for him to even be mentioned as an all time great, much less than stacking up to Bonds.

Ripken: Sorry, Cal Ripken Jr. is basically nothing without his Ironman streak that he took from Lou Gehrig in 1994. Rickey Henderson has better career stats then Cal.

Tonight's game: Angels defeat Twins behind the ass whooping the Angels hitters put on Joe Mays.

I just got back from a lab so I don't know if the game has started yet, but I'll make my series prediction anyways. This is a real tough one. Two underdogs going at each other is hell to pick. In the end, for a reason I don't really know why, I'm picking the Angels in 7. No wait, I'm picking the Twins in 7. Fuck this is so close! Screw it, Angels in 7 cuz of Salmon and Eckstein. Don't ask me why.

I already said the Angels were going to the World Series, but the NL poses a different problem. If the Cardinals had Scott Rolen, the Cardinals go the World Series without a doubt. But without Rolen, the Cardinals are significantly weaker in the lineup and on the field. This goes to 7 games with the Cardinals pulling it out. St. Louis has the emotional advantage in the series, and I think that is the determining factor.

Dude, I just had to comment on that Giants/Cardinal's game..

First, I wanted to say everyone who said the Cards 3rd basemen being out would "hurt them so bad" was totally off. Cairo, his replacement, was awesome tonight... I believe he was on base more then anyone else on his team... In my opinion, he did a better job at 3rd and on the offence then any other cardinal, in or out!

Now, that game was an awesome game... Main point of excitement... hell it brought the crowd into a 5-1 game... the words exchanged between both teams on the field... Last time the Giants and Cardinals met in the playoffs, a fight broke out in which 2 cardinals jumped will clark... This fight cleared off both bench's for both teams... This year Lofton was warned before he went up to the plate that something was awry... And sure enough, when he got up there... there was a pitch to ask him to back off the plate (although it was exagerated)... Lofton turned and said something to the pitcher... It should have ended there! But their catcher stepped in and said something degrading to Lofton... This brought both benches onto the field... And the managers who recently said they respected eachother just yesterday, were at eachothers throats... (Dusty pushed off the guy after screaming at him, then put his hands up, looking all innocent when the guy tried to retaliate)... Granted, nothing happenned except a tense moment.. Still, it was, in my opinion, what broguth the crowd into the game... In that sence, it could be called a game changer. (Remember, later that inning they hit in their homeruns)

Hehehe, yah... I concentrated on the fight... That was really the only thing worth mention besides the fact BARRY BONDS DID NOT CHOKE! (yes... addressed to all you anti-Barry Bond's people!) Awesome game for Lofton, Santiago, (wow... nice on knees off balance throw to second for the tag) and Bonds... For the opposing team their main men were Cairo Emerso and Pelijosa or however you spell that...

Ben

Lofton is a punk, I mean the pitch was a little in and a little up but hardly a throw at the head or anything.  If pitchers can't throw at all to brush a batter back than baseball has just gone soft.  Lofton should have just stepped back in...no words to the pitcher needed.  He is a vet, he should understand the game by now.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: (SiX)Ben on October 10, 2002, 08:26:10 am
And now the rest of the story :)

Some Giant... Saen Dunston, was looking at the Cardinal bench when Lofton hit his homerun... Supposedly the manager pointed at Lofton and said something to the pitcher after that homerun, so Dunston told him to watch out as the pitcher was gonna try and hit him... So Lofton went up there and thought that was the pitchers attempt... He yelled something at the pitcher, but it was going to end there... Then the catcher stood up and got in front of Lofton saying something (I still don't know what)... In Lofton's mind the pitcher was going to try and hit him, so he was going to stop it there...

Ben

I don't see how that changes things.  Ever think that he told the pitcher to brush him back and not to hit him?  It is just as likely...and thus Lofton shouldn't assume and thus react.

Lofton got brushed back for staring at his home run for a few seconds. It's common for a batter to stare a little when he jacks one, especially in a postseason game where emotions are magnified. Morris had no reason to brush Lofton back, and even if he did have a reason it's unprofessional to brush someone back up near the head. That's one of baseball's unwritten rules. If you are going to plunk someone for a reason, you do it on the thigh or as close to there as possible. Lofton had every reason to yell at the pitcher.

Oh yeah Sin, what was that about the Cards? Bwahaha, 1-0 and we got Schmidt on the hill tomorrow night.

The series isnt over until one team wins 4 games Ace.

As for Ben, you are an idiot, period. Rolen was the best third baseman in all of baseball and you sure as hell bet that the Cardinals miss his bat in the lineup. 31 HR's and 110 RBI, and a Gold Glove are hard to replace...and if you take a look back, the Cardinals started getting hot right after Rolen came from Philly.

This series will go seven games like I said before...

Yeah, I violated rule #1 and started gloating too early, but an NLCS doesn't come along too often in these parts of town so it's not all that surprising that we are enthusiastic.

Sin, Ben makes an excellent point about Rolen. Cairo went 3-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs. No one can argue that they missed Rolen's bat if Cairo continues to put up numbers like this. I don't remember any plays in the field that Rolen might have gotten instead of Cairo, and Cairo made no errors, so the way I see it defensively he has been his equal. However, this is only one game and I pray Cairo doesn't keep hitting us like that. If he does, Rolen being out didn't mean much, and if he doesn't I'll just be happy we shut him down.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.
Post by: PsYcO aSsAsSiN on October 11, 2002, 01:05:56 am
You miss the point Ace. Rolen is an everyday reliable hitter with a power stroke in the 5 hole for the Cardinals. Cairo is the best utility player for the Cardinals...with Rolen out, they can't utilize him like he is supposed to be utilized - pinch hitting and defensive replacement. Currently, the Cardinals have Rolen on their roster meaning that they only have 4 available bench players...that puts them at a disadvantage later int he game when they have to pinch hit for pitchers, insert a pinch runner, etc. SO with Rolen out, the Cardinals are in fact hurting.

P.S.: There is no way in hell Cairo will keep up this hot streak.

Well I am personally hopeing that the Cardinals win because they have Tino. I was so pissed off when he was traded.

I think that Larussa will pull something off with his bench. How many times have the Yankees done it? Derek Jeter rookie year, Shane Spencer, and probably others but I forget. Losing Rolen is bad but not fatal for the cardinals.

Title: Re:Damn Yankees... Again.

Assassin... Dude, don't call me an idiot for saying they didn't miss Rolen that game. Cairo had the hottest bat for the Cardinals in that game. Not even Rolen could have come close to the skill, or luck, Cairo displayed... Frankly, Cairo had a better offensive game then any single Giant! Now, say what you will...  But frankly, Cairo had the best offensive game for both team... He connected more and homerred more then Rolen would do statistically... I didn't say he would be better then Rolen the rest of the series, but that game... He owned Rolen... Anyone who says the only reason the Giants beat the Cardinals that game because Rolen was injured is a moron... That's my point!

Ben

P.S. Frankly, I think Kent could take Rolen offensively...

Unlike the Cardinals who couldnt hold a lead, the Angels bullpen can and will after they unleash 10-20 hits a game on the Giants.

Well, the Giants own. They are going win it all this year.
About the last game with the Cards, La Roussa is a dumbfuck. He lost the game by keeping in that pitcher for the bottom of ninth. Bell got on, Sawon got on. Ha, ha, ha. Well, all the better for the Giants. I cannot wait to see Loftons head bobbing and staring at his ba before he goes up to plate, Santiagos gun move with his arm when he hits a bomb, Snows yelling obsenities when he kills the ball, Bonds swinging that bat (if he gets pitched to, CHICKENS), Kent squinting at the pitcher trying to see where that ball will go. Ah man the Giants own. No doubt about it.

Oh man, another second grade math whiz.  SK, seeing as the Giants have already won a game, the most they could win now is three more.

But they aren't going to win three more, the Angels will.  I say Angels in 7 due to the DH and Home Field advantages.

Title: Re:Baseball Playoffs

Well, if SF wins the net 3 games (which I think they have field on) then the Angels won't be able to go on their field. I still say Giants in 5, because I think that they could win 3 on their own field.

Title: Re:Baseball Playoffs

The thing that you all lack in reasoning is that the Angels are actually at an advantage by playing at Pac Bell and not at the Ed because it suits their game better. If anything, the only benefits the Giants get is their home fans and removing the DH.

If you look at the season statistics, the Angles are more proficient at playing 'small ball' baseball than the Giants are. With Pac-Bell being such a hard place to hit homeruns, the Angels will take advantage of the huge gaps in the outfield and have rallies like they did against Minnesota and New York.

Angels will take 2 of 3 in San Francisco and win game 6 at home to clinch the series.

Suck it Francisco Rodriguez. Suck it long, suck it hard.

Man, I was jumping and yelling so loud when David Bell hit that single. I kinda wish the throw home would have been a little better so Snow could have nailed Molina ? la Pete Rose into Ray Fosse. Woody got off to a rought start but settled down. Then we had the airtight bullpen three-shot (F-Rod, Worrell, and Nen) close 'em down.

Couple notes on the pregame. First, Gehrig's speech should have been #1. And where was Bobby Thomson's shot? Honestly, people remember Russ Hodge's call way more than say Nolan Ryan's 7th no hitter. However, I must say it was hilarious seeing the fans booing Kirk Gibson and chanting "Beat LA!" Also, was it just me or did Joe Buck seem a little sauced right there at the start? Maybe he knocked a few back to loosen up heh.

Well, I don't profess to care that much about baseball so I wouldn't be in a position to pick the greatest moment ever, but I do know enough to know that it isn't Ripken's streak.  That would be like saying what Brett Favre has done in the NFL deserves the best NFL moment...commendable yes, up with the greatest moments...no.

Well, there's more to it than say Favre's streak. 2130 was one of those immortal baseball numbers like 56, 61, 755, etc. For someone to approach it, especially over such a long period of time, helped build it up. Also, it was after the strike so it played a huge role in recreating the lost interest from that mess. Does it deserve top 10? Yes. Does it deserve #1? Not by a longshot.

Notice how since the Yankees aren't in it, almost no one in NY (Infect) is paying attention to the game....

Fucking god... Fucking hell... Fucking shit. Oh well, going back home for the final two games. There goes my pick of 6 games. Still, I'll keep with the Angels,  I think that they will be able to pick up these two wins at home.

"One pitch away from game 7.... STRUCK HIM OUT ON A HIGH FASTBALL! AND THE ANGELS ARE GOING TO GAME 7!" - Fuck yeah.

That was a damn good game, I must say...Giants did superbly till the 6th (5-0), then our mid relief fucked up (ortiz didnt help)... Rodriguez did crappy, as did every other pitcher... So the angels came back from 5-0 and won. Good game... Mainly, the Giants got way to cocky... Up 5-0 and the pitchers started to pitch like shit...

Ahh well, I jacked up my guess, I figured Giants in 6, looks like Giants in 7 instead... That's ashame..

Now the question on the day... Who are the old geezers in the booth (decked out in Angels crap) they keep showing?

The woman they show in the booth is Jackie Autry, the wife of founding owner Gene Autry.

That was one fucking good game...it wasn't so much the Giants getting cocky, but the Angels bats lighting them up. Spiezio had an 8 pitch at bat against Felix Rodriguez and hit the 3-run jack. Erstad's homerun off Worrell was a meatball, I will admit that. Glaus' game-winning double of Nen came after he shortened up his swing and slammed it to the warning track in left-center. All-in-all a good game and I can't wait for game 7 tomorrow, when the Angels will rape Livan Hernandez again and Giants fans everywhere will curse his name.

Naaa, the Giant's got cocky... The announcers were just saying "Look, he's avoiding pitching outside on him. Good call, a low and in pitch could score 3, whereas a down and out could be a single..."

Low and behold, what does Rodrigeuz (I think) do? DOWN AND IN! That's cockyness, giving the batter his power hit.

Also, Giants fans already curse Hernandez's name...

Still a great game

Not to mention Bonds was tripping over himself. He was playing soccer rather than baseball.

Might I just say the following?

Hernandez, Shinjo, and Goodwin SUCK! BAD! BIG SUCK! HUUUUUUUGE SUCK!

Sander's sucks at bat, he can field though...

Good game... Hernandez fucked the Giants pitching as Goodwin, Sanders, and Shinjo fucked the Giants at bat... Other then them the Giant's played flawlessly... The Angels pitched a great game, as did the Giants (besides Hernandez)..

But they aren't going to win three more, the Angels will.  I say Angels in 7 due to the DH and Home Field advantages.

Oh hell yeah!

That's spectacular! Only me and Ace check the boards/post on it to support the Giants and I don't even get recognized... LOL :)

Angels raped Hernandez like I thought they would and won the Series. I bet the debate in 'Frisco tomorrow is why Reuter didn't start the game. Good World Series to watch and both teams should be commended.

Sorry Giants fans (Ace specifically) because they are going to suck next year. Looks like they are losing Baker and Kent, and Barry is getting old. Savor the NL pennent while you can, because you wont see another one in a long time.

Fucking yes! Fucking Yes! Man, I was at a party. 3 of us Angel's fans, and 7 Giants' fans. On the last fly ball, they're screaming "Get the fuck up! Get the fuck up!" and we're screaming "Stay the fuck down! Stay the fuck down!". Btw, who heard Bud Selige pronounce Troy Glaus' name wrong?

Bud Selig is an ass. He didn't even bother to memorize his speech and he started to call them the California Angels. Also an ass is Micahel Eisner, CEO of Disney, who is happy to see the Angels win so he can sell the team for more money to that Mexican Billionaire.

I still think if the Yankees faced the ?ngels in a 7 game series right now we would win....

The only reason the ?ngels got around the yankees was because it was a short 5 game series and they got lucky winning a few more then the yanks. Enjoy it while it lasts ?ngels.... being that it's your 1st world series... ever.

Yankees have how many World Series championships ? 26 ? muhahaha  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/icon_lol.gif)

Title: Now here's a Classic Yankee Fan!
Post by: AK_Rap1d on October 29, 2002, 02:44:14 am
Now there's a classic example of your average Yankee fan.  Since his peers are emphasizing on the victory of their personal favorite, they must try boast about their bought victories over a group of go-getters.  The fact is, this is now, that was then ?ngels are Victorious thanks to their strong .355 Series Team Average. ;D  The fact that the Yankees can pay for the best players available, doesn't mean they can beat anybody, and the ?ngels were happy to prove the Yankees wrong ;)  That's were Ulti's feelings are so hardly offended, since indeed, it was the "?ngels".  If you were to look at the ?ngels's record, you would never expect them to be here.   Yet, soul got together with a group of players that proved to bring it hard against any team they faced.  I guess we'll have to wait til next season to see if the ?ngels bench sits more or less the same, and we'll see what happens in the Yankees/?ngels game ;)  In the meantime, it was our pleasure to kick your asses! ;D  WOOOT ?NGELS!!!

Ult, just one question...the Angels kicked the Yankees asses in the four games they played (even if they lost one)...why would having an extra three make them stop kicking the Yankees asses?

It isn't like they won by fluke in all of the games...in fact, the thing closest to a fluke was the Yankees winning game 1.
