ok, i'm SICK of all u nerds comming onto DAMN just to state over and over again that Ghost Recon FIRST-isn't comming to mac, SECOND- isn't any good. You've already been proved half-wrong, and in another year, when 15000 ppl a week are playing it, you'll be TOTALLY wrong. The game is sweet, and in all ways better than RS-graphically, tactically, even sound effects. No more PDW dancing (may the better tcp connection win...), and now larger maps and even GHILLIE suits for crying out loud...

Anyone who still thinks GhR is bad, should:

1- Mail their Mac to me.
2- Get a PC

Maybe you'll figure out why more people play UO then GR on the PC side. The engine is made of poo. One person firing full auto lags it. You run for 10 minutes then get one shotted by a camper. Fun fun fun.

Finally, someone agrees with me....kudos to you Baz.

SNIPE...UO only has more people playing it because it is more widely supported (i.e. MSN Zone). On the platforms where it is equally supported, Ghost Recon averages more players that RS:UO does.

As for your info about one person firing full auto lags it up, wtf are you smoking? The only time I have run into lag playing Ghost Recon is when 10-15 people had M249 SAWs and were all firing them at the same time, or when 32 players were using explosives (GL's or RL's). Ghost Recon's engine is superior to RS, and so is the game play.

If you want to argue this, I am game for it.

 Not that many play UO on pc's. There is on average 20 people in the UO room compared to the Rogue Spear room with 300 people.... mainly because its easier to cheat in regular RS.

Ghost recon will definatly be better than RS. If it will be more fun, remains a point of contention. Part of the fun of RS is that you know the people with whom you play, and develop some sort of friendship. Ghost recon may take quite awile to form the community that RS has. From what I have heard, and based on my oppinions, ghost recon is more fo a game of patience, where as RS is a game of speed. Speed is much more likely to cause excitement then waiting for tens of minutes. Ghost recon also has more accurate portrailals of weapons, or so I've heard, this leads to a more team based game play, because you can get very good using one weapon and combine with others to form great team skills. It really depends on how much you care for each aspect of the game to determine whether it will be fun or not.

Now, in turn for my insight tell me if it will run decent on a 500mhz g3.  Please. ;D

"ghost recon is more fo a game of patience, where as RS is a game of speed." Same argument could be used if you compare the original R6 to RS. RS is much slower than R6. Most maps are very large however once you get used to the slower gameplay you like it. Also the fact that RS forces more teamplay than R6 created a strong community. GR will be fantastic in way of teamplay and different roles you have to chose from: sniper, demolition,support,...

I am excited about Ghost Recon and I hope it will be a better port than RS.

concernig lag:

GhR netcode has been optimized for 28.8k modem.
I'm playing GhR on a 56k modem and i never! Never had any lag - also on servers with 10 - 16 ppl. If u get more ppl on it u start to lag a bit.

So it has much less lag then any Tom Clancy game ever had!

And btw, there are also some small maps awaible in GhR, for some fast games.
Respawn makes it possible to play and not being worried about being killed on a big map! But u dont need it!

Mauti; GhR is not that slow as RS is. I never could get used to RS, but GhR was simple and really fast!
And Roger Wilco is great fun wiht GhR.

i've heard everwhere from oct 4 of this year to late 2003

Colin, on UBi, the place where i play it on my friend's pc, there is an average of 15000 peopleplaying GR and 0 people playing UO. Come on, the numbers speak for themselves. Ghost recon totally owns RS, the graphics, the maps, the weaps, everything. and, i will own u all except mayb sin when it comes out to mac. WOOT

hmmmm... all this talk about gr and I personaly, and this is my opinion, dont think its all that great. RS has a much greater variety of weapon choices and stuff like that. If you want to talk graphics and lag wise, yes GR is the much better choice over RS... but because I have a pc I'll probably just get raven shield when it comes out, or I can go out and buy UT2003

i think that most the people who whine about camping and c4 will hate Ghr. and i will embrace that.

also, is UT2003 being ported to mac? i really hope so cause it looks pretty cool, not to mention the Bomber Run game they have now.

Negative...Ghost Recon has a shitload more weapons than RS does...

All I can say is I cant wait till GhR. I will be able to play online like I do in paintball. Cloak and Dagger style all the way.

I think the debate about gr is silly, but one thing is probably for sure, it will appeal to some people, and it wont to others. There may be ceratin aspects of the game that are very very diff than RS, and many ppl willl enjoy and like those differences. But for some people, im not sure how many, they will still like like rs more, despite the inferiorority to GR's graphics,. etc. I say just wait until it comes out for mac, and you will probably fall in one of those 2 cateogries.

Beast, I never said that R6 has been modified for 28.8k, i said that most ppl started ewith 56k or slower to play r6.

And Its GhR is really better with 56k then anyother game I played.
