*DAMN R6 Forum

Hate to burst all your bubbles out there, but if you like the RS style of gameplay, you will sadly be disappointed with GR. I am not gonna waste my time or money on that game....find out for yourselves....

Well, seeing how i generaly love all types of First person shooters, i'll probly like GR. Like it or not, but it will gain alot of players from the mac side because of the popularity of R6 and RS. One of the main problems is not having enough players for games, like MOH, or SOF2.

You obviously have a very strong opinion on the issue.  Have you considered telling the rest of us why you feel that way or was this thread just a bunch of worthless spam designed to depress the community?

i haev it for my pc, and one thing i noticed, that it doesent have, is up-close combat. For example, you cant really rush in GR, you'll get cremed, where as in rs, rushing is a very good tactic. You also probably will be killing eachother long distance, whereas in rs you "dance" in the same room, to try to kill eachother. Also, dancing is not very prevalent in this game. Maybe those are some of the reasons, but GR is not for me

Yes, XO, GR lacks the dancing and CQCs... but come on guys! Personally, I love the long range sniping over sweet, huge maps! The choice of guns with all the mods is incredible! GR seems to me like a way more realistic game, although I will still play RS for the fast and action packed game. In GR, there is respawning (yes that is the most unrealistic aspect but its great)! you die and depending on the host may be able to come back and kill the f???er who got you! The game still has C4, which should make some people happy **cough** jeb **cough**   ;) and myself but anyways, you need to give it a chance. It makes up with its' lack of dancing and stuff in RS with many more tactical options (eg. commanding AI players and sending them off to places with tons of options... much easier to do here than in RS), Sniping  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/yabbse/YaBBImages/ukliam2.gif) and great maps. GREAT MAPS!
all i have to say

the one thing i dont like is the fact that there is olny 4 primary guns.      The saw, the sniper rifle, the Assult rifle and support is a differnt assult rifle i think.

Casper: what are you talking about? You named a gun from each of the groups of weapons. There are many many sniper rifles, a couple support guns (SAW, etc.,), Assault rifles in the Rifleman kit/group including the Steyr Aug/m16, m4 and others we know from RS and in the Demo kit/group, there are PDW's (though not close to as good, just shoot hella fast), the other MP5's, UZI's though also not as good, UMP's and a bunch of other SMG's i had no idea about.

God, if you tards paid attention to anything in the three or so threads I talked about Ghost Recon, you would see why Ghost Recon is superior to RS. Anyway, if you like to bitch and moan about a lack of cqc maps, why don't you download the ported RS maps for Ghost Recon so you can play your precious cqc? Like any good game, good mods can enhance it 10-20 fold.

Anyway, the expanded weapon selections, gameplay types, and maps make Ghost Recon superior to RS regardless of what you naysayers have. If you would like to argue with me after reading what I have previously posted on this great game, I am down for it.

We are an active RS and R6 clan - but we also have a GR section ! Tiger and me, we own both a PC, so play GR already since it came out!

SK, It'll probably start at about $60 (on Mac) depending where you buy it... At Macworld I'm hoping 40... In a few months after its release it'll be down to 40 or so...

hmm... I personally don't really like Ghost Recon, the problem is the game style.  Rogue Spear and Rainbow SiX were based in CQC combat areas and danceing and stuff.  Ghost Recon is based on(from what I've heard and seen) stealth, snipeing, and rocket launcher dude, or camper.  And hell no you can't rush, you'd be blown up in 5 seconds in GR.  But, theres respawning which is really sweet and new ways of playing...sadly I don't think I'll buy it when it firsts come out =(, I'll wait a bit and see what u people in the gaming community like to say.

On another note, theres Raven Shield!!!
Raven Shield is like Rogue Spear which some websites say, but with better graphics and weapons and shit. So what will you do?

Play Rogue Spear, Play Ghost Recon, play RS, and GR, or wait for Raven Shield?

OK, one, you are talking waiting a year or more for Raven Shield. I said that there is fun camping and sniping, but you can do a ton more. Hardly anyone, i repeat, anyone uses Rocket launchers. Ghost Recon does not matter that much about stealth, although it is good to have it. And, there still is CQC, it just isn't that big a part of the game. GR is very tactical and very real, and, as assassin says, superior to RS.

i heard it has claymore mines. Considering how i have a reputation as a camper/bser/mpbound spammer. But i can asure you, i'll be the one that is laying down in some wierd place with my saw waiting for you noobs.
I haven't played GR yet, but it seems like its the same style gameplay as games like TacOps, or infitration. I love any shooting game, and it seems that GR will be more focused on Tactics rather than dancing and prefiring.

As for raven shield, i watched a couple of the movies that mauti posted, and it looks amazing.

ps. Does it have a capture the flag gameplay option, cause that could be as fun as UT was.

Hmmm... not sure if there is capture the flag but i don't believe so. there is siege, which means one team is on defense and one on offense. you can deploy AI players with all dif commands to guard strategic points, etc. the object is for the offense to get to the defense's base and stand in the "smoke" or what could be called the flag except you don't run with it
