Title: CU vs. USC
Post by: Bondo on September 14, 2002, 11:05:31 pm
Well, rather than extend that other football thread any longer I'll create a new thread for this.  Two weeks ago I would have picked CU to beat USC, but due to the QB being injured I wouldn't.  Still, through one half this is one of the worst (and one-sided) officiated games I've seen.  There was an awful pass interference call that resulted in USC's second touchdown, and an even worse roughing the passer call that negated an interception on a drive that resulted in the third USC touchdown.  If the officials knew how to call a football game, it would probably be no more than a 7 point lead for USC if that.

Not saying that CU would win with good officiating, but with how bad it is, no bragging rights can be taken from the game.

Goddamn, what a sore loser. You guys sucked, plain and simple. I don't care if your QB got hurt. You can't use excuses like that. Injuries happen. Your defense had no major injuries and they still got their asses handed to them big time. Hell, your line and running back weren't hurt and they couldn't move the ball to save their life. Simply put, you got outplayed in your own backyard. As for the officiating, if you think that was bad officiating you need to open your eyes. The pass interference call was blatantly obvious. Besides, even if we didn't get that call we would have scored eventually. We were driving and you couldn't stop shit. Not the pass, not the run, nothing. I'll agree with you that the roughing the passer call could go either way, but many calls are like that. Even if you had kept that pick we were up by so much then it didn't matter. Ultimately, we can brag as much as we want. We went into your house and handed you one of your worst defeats ever. Making excuses only makes your team look like bigger losers trying to pass the blame.

PS - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 40-3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ok, I got a hold of myself I think...

PPS - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 40-3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

come on ace, you know better than to double post -Brain

Well, Ochs and Bloom being hurt damaged CU pretty good, but that is sitll no excuse to get pounded 40-3 by any team. Bondo, it isnt looking good for you since CU is going to the Rose Bowl next week and will get killed by my Bruins (I don't think anyone could beat up on them as bad as USC did, but the Bruins will kill them nonetheless). Paus is heating up and CU will be dropped from the top 25 (assuming the blowout to USC at home didn't already do it).

USC spanked Colorado, no excuses.

Actually Ace, if you watched the play, Strickland turned around and went for the ball, he has equal right to it and so he is allowed to bump into the USC guy if he is in the way.  He was going for the ball and reached the ball, knocking it down.  Any decent ref would have kept the flag in his pocket where it belongs.

As for UCLA, hopefully they will start Zac Colvin as he is a passing QB and actually might have a clue.

But the reason the defense played poorly doesn't have to do with their skill, it had to do with playing 90% of the time due to the offense going three and out every single drive.  The defense actally played extremely well considering, they forced turnover and got good field position, the offense just fucked everything up.

Seeing as the reason the offense was bad was that Ochs was gone, it is quite logical that him being gone was the difference between winning and losing 40-3. (Would have been more like 24-10 if it weren't for bad calls).

Oh and one more thing

Penn State 40 Nebraska 7...hahahaha.

Bondo, Strickland mauled Kelly in his attempt to go for the ball. It was a good call. Then again, this is irrelevant because we would have scored anyways because YOUR DEFENSE COULDN'T STOP ANYTHING. Do you remember when we had 4th and 8 on your 32 in the first quarter? Do you remember what happened there? Oh yeah, Mackenzie broke not one, not two, but three pathetic attempts at tackles that would have ended our drive but instead he went on to rumble for a touchdown! How do you like dem apples? That was before you can pull any of your defense being tired crap. We marched up and down the field when they were fresh; we marched up and down the field when they were tired. As for Ochs, if you offense is that dependent on a single player you are a BAD football team. No team should rely on a single player, especially a Big 12 team on their QB. Big 12 teams do one thing and that's run the ball. The only guy on your team who had a good day was the punter. How pathetic is it that your punter was named your player of the game. I guess that happens when he has to put 58 times cuz you are busy getting stomped 40-3. You can make all the excuses you want, but it does nothing but show how pathetic your team played.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 40-3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 40-3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 40-3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 40-3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Niners got raped by the Broncos...a little payback for Bondo I guess.

Bondo: If CU plays a passing QB, he is fucked...UCLA has probably some of the fastest and hardest hitting DB's in Division I football. I see CU getting killed again at the Rose Bowl, sorry Bondo.

Well, if Ochs is able to play he'll be in...it is to the point where Ochs will either play or retire from football.

Zac Colvin is a good QB who has game experience...and he is mobile while being a passing QB.  I don't think it is open and shut that UCLA will win...especially if Ochs is back.  If Ochs doesn't come back then UCLA will likely win and CU will likely continue to lose.  Where is Bobby Pesevento when you need him.

Yes the Broncos did kick the 49s asses a fair bit...that last TD by the 49ers doesn't really reflect how it was...Denver was giving them the inside of the field and while they gave up the 7, it took 2 min off the clock.  The Broncos just have an incredible defense this year...first they shut down the Rams, now the 49ers.  And the running game...need I say more ;).
