Ok Party People in the place to be!  I got to see a sneak preview and played Raven-Shield  (http://www.raven-shield.com) at E3(like I mentioned earlier this year) and I personally hate hearing that it's going to be a while before it gets ported to Mac.  I talked to the developers and programmers at the show at the UbiSoft booth and gave them my reasons and request to not forget to port it to the Mac.  I am hoping others will do the same.  I am sure they will eventually port it to all game consoles as well, but I would like to know how many people are going and willing to rally their troops and stay on UbiSoft's case to not forget to port it to Mac ASAP.  Vote on the Poll, and leave your thoughts behind.

Here's a Preview of what RavenShield's CSL looks like.  Notice how it is extremely similar to RS's CSL(see the middle bldg popping up the middle just like RS), except way more developed and different structured buildings and texture:

while i cant wait for revenshield to come out, i think that we should be caiutious that we dont piss ubisoft off. remember, the game isnt even finished on the pc side, i'd expect a few months to pass after they release it to  start hearing news of a port. so for now i think it's a tad early for them to get an email from me yet, but the emails will come, that's for shure

and for all of you that will write in to ubi soft, remember to POLITELY request  that they remeber to port it to the mac and to ask for simultanious release in the future.  were counting on these people, let's not piss them off

As Brain stated be careful about what you write. I wouldn't do anything for the first.

First the Unreal Warfare engine has to be ported to Mac until they can port games that use this engine like American's Army, UT 2003, Raven Shield,...

Then I would say its only a question of time until the game will be ported.

About simultaneous releases: I think there never will be simultaneous releases of games except games from Blizzard  like WarCraft3(not totaly true because Blizzard releases their games as HYBRID versions which means the game for PC and Mac comes in one box and they can also do so because they develop their own Mac version). However for a port company it is  more expensive and timeconsuming to work simultaneous on a port when the original version hasn't been finished. The code changes very often sometimes they screw all codes that all means wasted time for the Mac porting company. Time = money so a Mac game title will always be released later because it is cheaper except the same company develops both versions PC and Mac. Same counts for ports to consoles except XBOX because you don't have to change much to run the native code(The XBOX architecture is similiar to a PC).

standard game publishing dogma, the game will be out for a few moths (better sales on pc's means shorter times), before the pc publisher works out a deal with the mac publisher.  that way both sides have an idea of how the game will sell on the mac before $$$ changes hands.

the only thing i can't figure out is why ubi doesn't port it themselves.  they publish games for mac osx already, and for linux.  it surprises me that they don't take the chance themselves.

i posted in the raven shield PC forums about the mac version, and they said the graphics engine runs off some pc program (directx3d?) that has no mac equivelant, so it will be a long while before raven shield comes to mac...that really sucks... :o

That CSL ownz ass. Great graphics as far as i can see. I will buy it most likely just have to see. It may be up to 2 years from now till it comes out.

they have the PDW in it already as well as all the other HK Mp5's...

He isnt complaining about A PDW being in the game, he just doesnt want it to be rigged like the one in Rogue Spear is.

RS doesn't do a good job with the physics of gun accuracy at distance.  The first shot with a PDW is as accurate as a sniper rifle.  With it's short barrel, the pdw should suck at over 50 yards.  Also, the 9mm is too powerful at that distance (then what it should be).  RS does a good job with the recoil or knock of each weapon.  But a pdw should start with an accuracy of the whole circle (where the crosshairs are when you are moving, only it should be like that when still and worse when moving).

Hopefully, this is corrected in later games (like RS3).

There need to be gun jamms. That would be intresting. Then again everyone will say. My gun jammed as an excuse.

You people look way into the future...a pre-order for the PC hasn't even been announced yet. You will probably wait 2-3 years before you get a piece of the action, so dont hold out on getting other games like Ghost Recon.

     Ubi should just hire the Omni Group to port Raven Shield. Have you seen how FAST those mofos are? We'd get the game in no time. They've been doing a lot of work for MacPlay lately, and if I recall correctly, they ported SoF II in about two point five months, Fallout in like three weeks, and Fallout 2 in a couple of months. They do excellent ports, too. Mmmm, a company that delivers quality quickly. I love them. They are my heroes.

I just read in this month's MacAddict that there's been a port of DirectX for Mac!  I can't remember exactly what its called and I'm too lazy to get out of my chair and look it up, but this could be big. . .

If MacX (or whatever it is) becomes more mainstream, there'd be no reason for future games not to have simultaneous release.

Good news to all!

In our german PC GAMES the Ubi Soft made an advetisement to d/l the german RavS Demo - I looked up the Site and a like is already made, but no Demo is awayble - so after the did an advertice this month i think that a demo version will be out this month, too . Stay cool and  wait for the game.

This news is important for PC players or Mac players who want to test this game on a PC ( may be at a friends computer ).
