Ive tested it since 6pm and its 11:18 right now. Ive tested every weapon in here. Ive looked at the textures, size, muzzle flash, unis, each sound of the weapon, and checked all the reticules. I dont have one single thing to report:
1. I played this thing for 5 hrs straight and only crashed two times (I truly believe this was the computer and not the game, when it did crash I used the same exact weapons, team members, mission plan, and map. Never crashed a second time using the same kit items. I even always tried a third just to make sure). 2. I lost the sounds of weapons firing one time in the game, could hear everything else but just not the weapons firing (unless I was controlling that character) never had that happen to me before, again I think it was the computer. Never happened again, I tested it three times and it didnt happen a sec or third time. 3. Third, the only constructive criticism I have for the entire mod right now is that some of the secondary pistols appear a little too big. They are not too big, just some like the para 16 appear a little big and too long in the hands of the characters. That is nit pickin, I know. Dont know if this is on purpose or not, all the models look great. Just thought I would tell ya. 4. On the state dept. uni (think thats right, the gray one) the palm part or underside of the gloves appear to be white. I think you intended it to be that way. Either that or its not taking the texture. I know this is one helluva post man, but I just wanted to get back to ya asap. I appreciate all the work you and cobra put into this. Seriously, and you guys know this, man there has been nothing that comes close to this thing, and probably wont for a long time. Great job. Let me know if Im being too damn picky. I will check the scaling on the pistols again, hey that's what a beta's for... As for the ones who didn't get it, sorry, but I had to pull the beta off the server due to the word getting out and too mant ppl dl'ing it.
BTW feedback is not just for bugs, you guys can post just to tell us what you think. Just try to tell about something in particular that you liked, didn't like, etc... Splash Screens: All Checked out okay and noticed no promblems. They are a nice substitution to the old mission planning screen. All weapons but the default SPAS-12 showed up in the Kit selection screen. However, this is most likely due to your update of this weapon. Skins: The skins came out nicely. Some looked alittle odd, at the joints, but this is nicpicking. There were no visible problems. This includes the AI uniforms. Weapons: I have not tested all the weapons. I'm about 60% complete. I am extremely impressed. The weapons are highly detailed. The lightly within and around redicule also showed up well and did help vision somewhat (NV is still the best way to go). One problem I noticed was with the AI's firing their weapons. Few emitted muzzle flashes. Though I did not give them many chances. Also in some case, as with the H&K MP5 A3 (I will have to recheck which one exactly) I emptied 1/2 a click into a tango just to drop him. I had a perfect fix on abdomen too. I presume this is due to increased body armor though. Weapons also seemed a tad bit large. AI: The AIs do act somewhat oddly in the Training maps. Sometimes they run into walls and keep running. The AIs seem to be a little smarter in the Training maps. They are not as easily goated into ambushes, react faster, and refuse to pile up in one area. Instead they choose to split up and cover more areas (noted this in City Street Large). Compatability: I also tested the weapons in US Tac with other skins and received no problems. Skins showed up nicely in user created maps, unlike with Official SWAT Mod (for me at least). And other weapons work with your skins. This is prliminary. I'll post a comlpete report just as soon as possible. However, overall, this is one of the greatest mods created. You really out done yourself!!!!!! They all have heavy armour stats, so 9mm shots to the body are not the best option, go for head or leg shots or use a heavier ammo.
I had not noticed them behaving abnormally, running into walls, but it may be one of those things RS does. All I did was increase their stats and armour, and change the kits, code-wise. 1) Nice spinning logo, as usual 2) I am pleased to see that the gun models with flashlights on them are made so that the white part is brighter so that it looks more 'on', i willing to bet you will get less ppl asking how to activate the thing now 3) New in game text that adds character is very clever 4) New gore is much more detailed than rse's gore, looks good 5) Uniform detail is AWESOME, i never saw anything looking so good. great job on the tango's too, theyre pretty friggin badass now 6) the M-60: VERY kewl, for a huge gun like that you dont get the ret bloom you would normally get with 200 rounders. 7) Landwarrior: random reticule change of color? sometimes its black, once it was red, in all cases it was black at some point and didnt turn green again till i got near or into a gunfight with a tango or entered a room with a tango or was near a teammate who fired at a tango. strange... 8) Landwarrior: green part of ret was misaligned: too far down, it only happened once. i also dont know what people will think about the lack of current ret bloom status, being that it doesnt show it. 9) nice flashlight rets, better than first time rets like that u made were featured. 10) AWESOME sound on the Anti Tank big boom thingie i forgot the name... good model, i use it instead of a sniper rifle now... 11) The unholy steyr aug u talked about is SO badass, mama said iz the DEVIL!!! ("the waterboy" for all you non movie theater goers) gun sounds good too, it really almost feels like a laser sight when using the ret on 3rd person, even tho its just a red dot. same with flashlight rets. 12) The mouse cursor thing is a clever surprise 13) new muzzle flashes are as good if not better than rse's 14) who could forget the KiKaSs splash screens? the new look to the custom mission menu is nicer on the eye, and all the other splash screens look great. hows THAT for feedback? hehe later ppl. ::) Title: Re: US TAC MOD BETA REPORT Post by: WardenMac on October 04, 2001, 09:30:06 pm Ive tested and tested this thing people, cant find nothing wrong. The LW ret is a rangefinder so it cannot display bloom, but the rifle has the normal realistic accuracy it should. So you gotts think of it like a real rifle, as for the color changes, yeah, it's something that RS does with that ret, nothing we can do about that, but usually it returns to standard color when the wep is fired. Deltapooh: hmmm AT4 and AR10 muzzle flashes... I'll check into that. I spent some time aligning the flash on both weps, but maybe something go screwed up in the alignment numbers... I will prolly shorten up the mesh on those weps with the longer stocks, the model is based on the actual real rifle size, but RS is slightly disproportionate, so that can be easily fixed. i tried the tac mod with the road ambush map, and the water turned BRIGHT pink :o and that skin that is listed b4 dea met didnt exist or something, so it showed the met skin (next 1 on the list after all) even tho it said i was wearing the other 1. this happened every time, on every map, while i had road ambush activated. u know whats wrong? im willing to bet its the modded map, NOT the tac mod... Well remember, all mods will not always work together, due to the fact that some mods share the same files, but modded in a different way. An example of this is the Rommel.cxp file, which contains all the info on transparencies, etc... Rest assured the problem does not lie in the TAC MOD, just make sure it is number one priority in the list of mods and it should be trouble free. I have also played/tested on the road map with no problems...
