Title: Modding Sounds for Ghost Recon... Not working
Post by: Josef Porta on November 16, 2001, 03:10:53 pm
Well there I was... sitting with my new copy of Ghost Recon (and i do mean copy... aint got the cash right now but next month ill buy it so dont bug me!) and thinking: hmmm well the kit files are new... dont want to bother learning how they work... cant do models and textures so ill leave those alone... but hey! They are still using wav files for sound! great then ill just copy some of those great sounds from the TAC MOD to see how they sound in the game... so i copy the mp5 sounds and rename them to work in GR (basically the same setup: 1 for each fire rate (single, burst & full auto) and one for the "end" sound of bursts... aaah now i shouldnt forget to check so they still use the same wav format... PCM 22 050 Hz 16bit mono... great! so i try the game with the mp5... what happens? Absolutely no sound... none whatsoever when you fire the gun... no single shot or full auto or anything... so I guess it wasnt so easy after all... dont have a clue what could be wrong... oh well ill just have to wait for your mods to start popping out (and i hope a sound mod comes along soon cos i sure dont like the sounds in the original)

Heh... now it works... but not with the mp5 sound...
I now have m4 and m16 sounds from TAC MOD and mp5 and AK series sounds from Lloyds mods... so it can be modded... but i cant for the life of me figure out why i cant use that mp5 sound from the tac mod...

Ha... ha... ha...  ::)
I dont make mods for anyone than myself and i havent been doing it for long... and i only make scavenger mods... ie I take stuff that other people have done and mix them together to make a mod fashioned after my taste...
But the really annoying thing with this was that of all the sounds i could have picked (for this VERY easy mod) i had to pick the one and (so far) only sound that didnt work...

But what i really want to know is how to mod the damages in GR (i shot a guy 3! times with a barret .50 cal before he finally died... those were chest hits by the way...)

Yeah well im running into all kinds of problems now... In my mod i changed the files IN the origmiss itself wich meant that it wasnt a separate mod that could be activated and de-avtivated... but now i tried to make it a separate mod but it seems that one of two things happen... i have modded the m16 to fire full auto and either it fires just single/three round and no full auto or it does fire full auto but all the sound effects have been replaced by the "beep" from the main menu (when u select something). Wich sucks... it works fine if you overwrite the files in origmiss tho... problems are just piling up eh?
