Title: More about Grifter
Post by: jn.loudnotes on July 20, 2002, 06:02:24 pm
I know one of the great things about this forum is anonymity, but I find myself wanting to know more about Grifter, the man.

We've learned from his posts that he had a wife and family and lived in Michigan.  But I don't even know his real name.  Deadeye or others, would you consider telling us so that we could know more about Grifter himself?

first, for a true insight to him, look at his own views.  i posted them on his site.  www.macclans.com

grifter was born michael baker.  growing up he was the best kind of friend to have.  he was a brain in school, skipping 4th grade completely.  he was also a good athlete.  as a senior in high school, he was ranked in the top 20 swimming recruits in the country.  he was the third best butterfly in the state that year.  he went to college on a swimming schlorship, util he tore some ligaments in his back and knee playing rugby.  that not being allowed, he lost his schlorship, and paid for the next three years on his own.  he graduated with honors with a bs in chemistry from western michigan university.  he then went on to the university of michigan on got masters in software engineering and his mba in project managment.  he was now working on his phd in software development methodology.  he was just starting to publish some papers and had three speaking gigs at important development conferences this year.  more then anything else, he loved his dogs.  he treated them as much as family as anybody.  he used to say it took a real man to walk a poodle with pride.  he was a big man.  strong as an ox.  he was always looking after the little guy too.  he couldn't stand a bully.  he was never mean nor cruel.  he hated violence torwards the weak, women, children or animals.  he one time shattered his hand in a fight after seeing a guy hit a girl, back when he was 18.  he was hitting so hard that when he missed and hit the brick wall, it shattered his hand back by the wrist from the compression.  he had to have it operated on two days later.  he couldn't have cared less.

but all this is just stories.  all you really have to do to know the man is to read what he's written.  and know that just as sure as you will take your next breath, he would back up his words to the hilt.  it's how he lived.  his word and honor meant everything to him.

Well, if you want to know how he looked like, you can take a look at the picture I have as my signature.

As for that thing deadeye posted: He went out a noble man.

Noble is just the start of what grift was.

Thank you for answering anyway.  Had I posted in one of the other threads, which already had numerous posts of people expressing condolences, I probably would not have been noticed.  This is a slightly different topic from "omg...I'm so speechless"

I think Grifter would appreciate that we continue to argue over silly forum business  8)
