Title: Please stop locking every topic
Post by: jerkasaur on August 30, 2005, 05:45:29 am
I understand the want for civilized discourse here as much as much as anyone else, but this thread locking has gotten out of hand and it is hurting us (as a community). These are controversial topics to be sure (you all know which ones I'm talking about) and there is bound to be serious disagreement between people. However, we here are all fairly mature and everything on this site doesn't need a G rating for content. By closing these topics because one or two members stopped being polite to one another doesn't solve anything, instead it just lets the issue hang to fester and grow. Locking the topics doesn't prevent further discussion of the issues involved, but instead relegates it to the private backwaters of the clan forums and pms on gameranger, which doesn't help anyone. Sure some members are taking it too far with the flaming (justified or not), and even though I have felt that I've been personally insulted and called a liar, that doesn't mean that I think the issue brought up should die. It's sort of sad when I feel I have to reply to a new topic as soon as possible so that the community will know my opinion before the admins decide to close it.

The issues brough up are extremely valid and affect the entire community as a whole. They will die when the issue is ready to die, and closing them before hand doesn't help anyone, and I would go so far to say that it hurts the DBL. Of the 12 topics on the front page, that arn't stickied, 6 of them are closed and unfortunately at the moment they all pertain to one of the most important issues that the DBL is facing.

Stop closing the topics.

Must be easier to lock a thread than to address the issue.
DEAR MR and MRS DBL ADMINS:

The GHR community formaly requests conclusive evidence that Rabbit deserved being banned.

thx Hunter, I agree closure would require evidence.

As clan leader of =US= I would also like to formally and respectfully request evidence.

Please do not spam or post long threads in the rest of this thread. If you would like to help, just sign your name to show your request for evidence.

As stated in previous posts... I too would like to see evidence to prove beyond any doubt that Deumrabbit was indeed cheating.

I second the motion that the discussions are allowed to work themselves out.
Both sides could CONCEIVABLY be right, therefore passionate discussion is allowable, but w/o the flaming hopefully..

(We had plenty of tape on Typhy and would have gladly demonstrated, had the examples not been convinceing enough to make a decisive admin ruling).
Rabbit deserves the same, I think...and if hes Guilty..then omfg....let the smashing commence.

I Quadruple the motion for multiple view replays by the admins' recreation.

Again, i would be more than happy to post to admins credit in appreciation, either way,
(out of respect for how difficult this is becoming on the league-accused and admins alike)
and would immediately, publically defer to their legimate decision on viewing a recreation.

sincerely, and respectfully.

Everyone please ignore that.

Please only post if You wants conclusive evidence that rabbit was cheating.
Posting your name is sufficient

Again, nothing here I haven't seen 20 times before, this topic seems like spam to me. Everything you could have concievably said, you have said. period. its not like the admins cant read,  I assure you every single one has been following these topics. Stop posting these threads. This is like the fourth one I've had to lock. I locked the last one mostly because of liberate, and also because you people hijacked the thread from {E}Ive. And by {E} Ive I definatly mean Ein. Oops.

Stop closing the topics.

Lets examine those topics shall we?

Cheating Witch Hunt: Started off well enough until the requests degenerated into spam and flames. I'll give an anom example.

Shut the fuck up to be honest. Are you fucking retarded? You have fucking euros and aussies hosting/playing in the league with 400+ ping yet you want Rabbit out because he's in the US with 120~ ping and shitty DSL? BAN THE EUROS AND AUSSIE THEN TALK SHIT ABOUT LOCALS. How retarded can you get? Jesus christ...

By the way Brutha, its =US= DeUmRaBbiT. There's a space in there buddy.

Reply to =US=, Locked to prevent flames. Given what I just showed above, I think thats a damn good idea.

GhRa > Phara caught cheating: A ridiculous waste of the *DBL's time, shouldnt even be in the *DBL forum.

Pre-Season Ladders: Why would you wanna post in there anyway?

Umm Lets CB PART 2: Spam all the way.

My point is, we don't lock topics and then giggle at you all in the admin zone. There's a reason for everything.

A group of admins are going to get together to review some of the proof. If the admin team as a whole finds it satisfactory and is satisfied with the ban, than that will be it. But if we aren't satisfied, then we will have to reconsider. Until we announce, STOP POSTING THESE TOPICS.

You will be warned, and banned, if you continue to post these sorts of topics.

I hope you arent insinuating that Ein = Ive, because I hear Ive on Premium all the time, Ive seen Ein and Ive in the same room playing together/against each other.  Ein = Librarian (Ok he is a chocolate store manager) and Ive = 17 or 18 in HS or first year of College.

Spike I hope this isnt what you were trying to say, but if it was...

Shame on You

(besides ein sucks Ive rocks (jk ein))

Cmon now spike!

Dark.

The cooler heads here understand your frustrations Spike, please try to understand ours.

Again respectfully, I am trying to rise above the screechers,
to be an objective outside voice, interested in fairness (to Admins and accused alike),
regardless of outcome.

You yourself have been granted simliar fairness, and due consideration,
when a first glance MAY look awfully incriminating.

All the Threads are evidence that we ALL care about that.

There is ONE SUPER DUPER SIMPLE way to stop the thread..
and settle the issue once and for all.

Please show us the re-creation that GhostSniper referred to (or similar one),
that you based your decision on, and I promise it will go away.

For the admin team, I can think of no more rewarding conclusion,
than silencing the critics of your decision by showing that you can duplicate
with a 'hack' what Rabbit is accused of.

**And on the release of such proof, I would EMPHATICALLY encourage the critics to publically AND privately voice their retractions to you as a gesture of respect, and appreciation for weathering a storm to protect this league, through the heat of the emotions, and difficult calls.**

Thanks for your consideration.

Thank you sheix, thats exactly what I was going to say. Spike, not all of those topics were about the rabbit issue I agree, but you cannot deny that new threads keep poping up about this issue because the ones before it were closed. I also don't see how this petition can in any way even be considered spam, but regardless I really do believe that because this is a very serious issue (and it goes far beyond rabbit mind you) and not allowing the community to discuss it in an open forum such as this, for whatever reason makes it a much, much larger issue.

The admins will review the proof in a closed server. Once the admin team is satisfied all threads relating to rabbits ban will be closed, new threads deleted, and posters warned from spamming. The proof will not be shown to the public in an effort  to not encourage further hacking. If it somehow turns out that the admin team is not satisfied with the proof, then we will reconsider Rabbit's ban.

Sheix: Rabbit is being granted the same second look that I was so lucky to receive. It would be very easy for the admin team to stonewall =US= and the community. However in consideration of the continued protests, we are reviewing the proof in order to be sure that we made the right decision.

Thank you,

The *DBL admin team.

Nah, you know what, it's not worth it. Ignore what I said. The main thing is spike doesn't deserve to be an admin, and your guys' current verdict about Rabbit is 100% wrong. I expect him to be unbanned within a week. You greatly inconvenience the ladder, US, and Rabbit himself with this. If I were you, I would have been reviewing it the second the contraversy started. Dragging it out and putting it off just pisses people off more.

I thank the DBL Admin team for reviewing the Rabbit situation over again.  I only ask that you share any proof you have that he is cheating with the rest of the community so we can all understand why you made your decision.

Liberate, this isnt helping rabbit any by pissing the admins off.  Dude just stfu and chill man, you arent acting very mature about this at all man.  Quit throwin personal blows all over the place and sit back and await the decision, we all know that you you think rabbit is 100% innocent, so just wait for the verdict/evidence like the rest of us.

I have been tbh. Maybe if you had any confidence in your own judgement you'd have the decision fast. You're wasting Rabbit's time and US's time.

I don't see why it matters if I piss off the admins. For one, the "admins" piss me off with their blatant lack of admining knowledge. For two, what's going to happen? Omg I get IP banned. Umm.. I can have a new IP in 5 minutes. You can't get my MAC address either with the firewall I'm running. Apart from that, there is no MAC address ban option for these forums. Why should I respect admins that don't respect others? You guys disrespect Rabbit and ruin his name with your false hackusations, then you have the nerve to sit here for a week and do nothing about it. You also disrespect US by keeping one of their players banned on false charges. Apart from that, half the admins go and flame me saying all kinds of shit that's not even true. Why? They didn't read my post. They didn't read what I said and they didn't read my explaination. But of course, they know how the game engine works and how the server interacts with the clients better than me.

shut up liberate... you're doing nothing but hurting your 'case' here... quit being a dumbass and let the admins do their job, they said they'll review it, what else do you want them to do right now?

you've now repeated yourself what? 10 times now? I think I speak for all of us when I say nobody wants to hear your crap anymore. kthx bye
