Title: Problems with DBL mappacks 1.5,2.55
Post by: oBlade on March 20, 2005, 03:53:48 pm
1.5:
The download file grdamnblmappack1.sit unstuffed to *DAMN BL Map Pack 1.5, but stopped there. OS 9.1 is saying *DAMN BL Map Pack 1.5 can't open because it can't find Stuffit, but it's a VISE installer document according to its info.

2.55:
grdamnblmappack2.sit expanded to grdamnblmappack2.sit Folder, but the file *DBL Map Pack 2.55 Complete inside does nothing (OS 9.1 thinks it's a 'document,' eck)

Again, running just 9.1 & using Stuffit Standard 7.0.3

grdamnblmappack2.sit
grdamnblmappack2.sit Folder
      *DBL Map Pack 2.55 Complete
      __MACOSX

It may be OS9.1, but unless you care to actually post something useful...

yeah, seems like the mappacks are OSX-only. what else do you expect me to say?!

it should be only the installers that are OSX-only... therefore, try to get or get somebody with OSX and unstuff/install it there and then take the mappack folder out of the GhR Mods folder and copy it to yours. should work.

Well, thanks... since I'm on 56k, I'm going to install some obselete version of X as opposed to redownloading. Then I'm going to delete it because I only have 128mb RAM! Woo.

Hmmm all installers I created are Carbon Installers meaning they run in MacOS9 and X at least I have tested them in OS 9.2.2 with Stuffit 6 Deluxe. I just redid the test and they work fine in OS9.

Just drag the files above Stuffit expander directly don't use the list function. Directly expand it.

Further please check your files because the grdblmappack2 should be a zip file not sit. Only the first one is a .sit file.

The first sit file should be 49.9MB large and the dbl2 map pack 86.4 MB if they are less your download probably was interrupted and so the files screwed.

Bye,

Mauti

The download is fine, but Stuffit can't find a .zip or .sit header in almost all the files...
Thanks civic, I spent about an hour getting 10.0.3 up.

Yeah, I was renaming the files randomly.

Anyway, after re-unstuffing the installer for 1.55, it successfully ran.

I'm actually having a similar problem. 1.5 Unstuffs and the installer runs just fine, but 2.55 seems to have issues w/ me. It downloaded as a folder instead of a .sit or .zip archive, and opening it up it's just a file called "*DBL Map Pack 2.55 Complete" and a folder called "__MACOSX" with nothing in it. I'm running OSX, and I don't remember having any problems with the DBL map packs in the past. The map pack file refuses to be opened by stuffit or any other archive program on my computer and it's incredibly agrivating. If anyone has a solution to this issue that doesn't invoke redownloading the map (i'm on a 56k and it would take 8 hours) it would be really helpful. Thanks.

You can disregard the last post, for some very odd reason, I found the zip file "grdamnblmappack2.zip" in the trash, and unzipping it again gave me the correct installer and it works. Very odd.

that's cause of a setting you can turn on/off in Safari, called auto unpack or so. when it's turned on it automatically unpacks .zip files and puts the .zip in the trash after and leaves only the unpacked data on the desktop.
