*DAMN R6 Forum

Ok everybody, you heard right.  The first |?K| / *DAMN sponsored 1v1 Tournament in Rogue Spear!  The tournament will take start as soon as we have enough contenders, and last until the start of Season 4.  As suggested by Mauti, the first 16 Players to sign up will be accepted, so SIGN UP TODAY!(simply sign up here or talk to me on GR)  It'll be a very competitive 1v1, and I will be your Administrator for any problems.  ;)  We will have an updated page keeping track of everybody that signs up(link below).  To sign up, you'll need to give the following:

• An Icon(Clan Icon is acceptable), for it will be included by your name on the ladder(if you don't have one, one will be assigned to you)
• Your GameRanger? Account I.D. #(You have to setup and join the game via GameRanger?)
• Have time to get your 1v1 matches done
• Be ready to go at any time your contender is available
• No PC Players will be accepted to enter
• And the hunger to kill kill kill!

If you DO NOT HAVE the time, simply do not sign up.  We are only interested in players signing up that are going to actually play.  We will be getting rid of anybody that signs up and goes inactive.  I will be monitoring the 1v1 and pushing you to get your 1v1's done on GR!  Penalties will be given out to players that avoid their matches(disqualified).  With all that said, Sign up today for the most competitive 1v1 Tournament of 2003!


Some of the Rules for the 1v1:

• C4's are restricted, and not to be used.
• No 3rd Person.
• SAW, RPD & 21E3 are to be restricted and not to be used.
• 10 Games are to be played.  5 on each host, or on designated host(Only scores that add up to 10 will be accepted)
• Follow *DAMN BL Rules[/b] on Map and Team Selection.
• Overtimes: You can do best of 5 on one agreed host, or 3 games on each host.

Wow Rapid this is complete and utter bullshit. If ipers can compete in the regular season of the *DAMN league then why shouldn't they have the opportunity to compete in a tournament? That is such bullshit. Just because it is to your advantage to take them out of the tournament. You know very well that IPers are a big part of the tournament so wtf is your problem?

turns out rogue spear doesnt work on my mac anymore, so i have changed my position to 'protest the no iping rule'.

 While I would like to see PC players in the tourney, simply for an oppertunity to play against Xoclipse again, I think that Rapid has a legitimate case not to allow them. It's ok for some parts of this mac battle league to remain Mac only.  

No, Rapid thinks he knows about PC cheats but he doesn't. There are about 3 different versions of PC aimbots for RS: UO. 2 of them you need to buy ranging from 40-80 bucks.

Yep, bullshit. Rapid added these rules simply to kill our participation.  

First, the rules are laid out... No where did I see anything regarding PCs, people banned from GameRanger(this is automatically included if we say the games are to be setup through GR), or IP joining. If I did or anyone else did, we would not have signed up or even attempt to address the issue.

Great, now Mattster and I signed up. Rapid then asked all pariticipants for their GR ID. Notice this was AFTER Mattster and I's sign-ups and without any collaboration to us(a.k.a. IGNORING). But wait, Mattster never stated he was going to use a PC until sometime after Rapid's post(about a day). Therefore, Rapid posted as an indirect response to me; he knew I was banned. Lets assume Rapid did not see my post (11 minutes is not enough time to type a two-sentenced reply) he refered to PostNoBills, who posted one second after.

What's this? more PCers? We get several more sign-ups including xoclipse, bronto, and Mattster finally stated he will be using a PC. Rapid then proceeded to state the rule of "No PCers" as an attempt to nullify our sign-ups. He also claims to have discussed this with Mauti(I'd like to get confirmation from Mauti himself). In addition to the rule, Rapid apologizes to us four(that was nice of you), knowing it affects us.

Didn't get rid of us yet: We still have Macs to play on also.

Uh-oh, a new rule!! The games are to be played via GameRanger. That kills off xoclipse, Mattster, and I. Another attempt to thwart our fun, and sadly to say... it succeded.


Well there you have it... Rapid successfully created two rules to more than obvious, ruin our fun. Personally, it pisses me off how this shit still continues, even when we try to setup a simple tournament as Rapid as the organizer. When I first saw this thread, I thought this was a joke. An AK/DAMN tournament? I mean holy shit, those two ancronyms can't even be on the same line, let alone side-by-side.

To finish off, I sure hope Mauti clears this up, because if not, you will never see me in any "AK sponsored" event or tournament.

Sorry you feel that way, but it was matters that were being discussed, as the tournament was being advertised.  

We both agreed it should be a Mac only tournament we could run thru GR, therefore eliminating any contacting problems.  If you see the list of players qualified so far, it has a GameRanger? indicator to let all participants know whether their opponent is on or not, therefore making it easier to get matches done faster and more efficiently.  Again, just looking for better results than past tournaments.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a tournament of your liking in the big PC world though now. :o ;)

I see... so "as the tournament was being advertised" means while people sign-up, lets cough up rules that limit specific players. Which is 100% OK since you are the organizer. This is how Rapid manages his form of a tournament.

Guys calm down and relax it is only a small tournament. We decided to keep the tournament on GameRanger because it is easier to setup. Furthers all guys on a PC can choose from many others PC tournaments.

As a consequence I said to Rapid that we should first let all guys in that are Mac players on GameRanger. That are 16guys so we added the must be through GameRanger rule.

I'm not entirely clear on the format, but it seems a player can challenge another player anytime they want? Is there a limit to how many times I have to be owned by Silvio or Biohazard? Is there any limit to how many times you have to rematch someone in one time slot?
If I'm 15 minutes from ditching out, but have been on for 6 hours and my wifey is about ready to drag me off to shop and spend spend spend, if I get challenged then, is it legal to postpone?
Can you be mid game, or even hosting it up, and HAVE to leave a game room if a challenger comes along and demands a 1v1?
Perhaps it should be a GR bar and grill or PM challenge that is unavoidable?
Just curious, sign me up in any case please.

As a voice in an apparent minority, I would like to say that I am in favor of the Mac only rule, not to exclude XO, Bronto, Ejo (what's with all the O's anyways?) but on the basic principle that as Battle League, a supposed "Mac Only" league, is on GR, a supposed mac only platform, it conforms with the league and such.  It also discourages (rumor or not) hacks from spoiling all the fun.  PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT ACCUSING ANYONE OF HACKING IN THIS POST SO DON'T PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH! >:(

I too agree with Rapid and Mauti's decision to disallow non-GR users. It will keep it all a bit simpler. I too agree with Letum, people might stir up lots of BS if they feel the IP/PCers hack. Also, shame on all of you protesting this rule by leaving the torney. Alot of effort is put into making these tornies, so please show some respect and be kind to those organizing it.

well thats not completely true if you read the rules u can be on a pc ur clan just hast to have a majority of mac players.... and as someone else arleady said hacks cost lots of money so there would be no point i have been a long time pc player and a while ago i went looking for hacks to see if i could find any but i couldn't....(even on kazaa(Biggest pirate system in the world :) )

Ok, about hacking, from my experience in trying to make a complete catch-all antihack for the last 4 months. PC users present just as much hacking/cheating threat as mac users. The most widely used hack is a server-side gun data hack. This can be easily accomplished on a mac using only simpletext. The only thing that PC users could have to their advantage in an aimbot. Aimbots function differently than most RS hacks because they dont change any data. They're usually a serperate application that searches for a specific color on your screen. When that color pops up on your screen it attempts to send bogus mouse data to keep the center of your screen on that pixel of that specific color. However, due to the similarity of the colors of RS, any color in the unis are found in other parts of the game, making this very diffulcult if not impossible to pull off. These aimbots are fairly obvious because a user's screen will snap to a guys head. But in RS, they wont only snap to the guys head, they snap to random objects and spots of walls. A dead spectator could easily spot this, if the PCers were willing to let any random person spectate. And last but not least, NO I DONT FUKING CHEAT!

Rapid... excellent job so far setting everything up. My power has been out at home because of an ice storm in april!!! Power is back now, but cable is still down (I am at school). When do we start playing and find out who we are competing against? I hope I get internet back in time... if I don't, I'll let you guys know whether I can play or not.  8)

? Your first mission, is to battle everybody on the list once.  You will be required to do your 1v1 vs anybody that's online if they're available(I will be  monitoring on GR as well as Typhy).  Post your scores here.  Remember, 5 games on each host.  Challenger has choice of hosting 1st or not.

? Quarterfinalists will be decided according to amount of matches won.  So get to battling!  A chart will be displayed on the 1v1 WebPage.

I'm happy we have a good bunch of players to work thru with, and hope everybody stays busy doing all their matches everyday(if necessary) for the next week!  15 1v1's to go thru, so get battling today!!!   ::)

Yes, you heard it right!  The Tournament is still in effect!  Due to the great turnouts, we are happy to extend the tournament.  The importance is all the good competition and great matches being played!  People like Pat that thought 1 win would get him into the quarterfinals, THINK NOT! ;)  You gots to battle a lot, and of course, WIN a lot!  Get out there and get some battles done and we'll see who is on top of their game this Tournament!  We'd like to have a minimum of at least 3 battles each, before announcing the QuarterFinalists, so get out there today and get some matches played!(Remember, the more you play, the better chance of advancing, so get to battling!)

Ok guys, the tournament was designed to be action packed, not to have 1 guy camp at their STARTING POINT, and have the other come looking for him or fall in his camping trap.

What I mean, I just got done battling SilentKiller, and this fool, sat at his homebase camping waiting for me.  In warehouse, he was blue, and he sat at stairs peeking, waiting for me to come up the stairs the WHOLE game.  In storage, he sat at Window.  In Maze, he sat at base.  In Sib1, he sat in one room crouching pointing at the door.  Now, how much more LAME can you get?  If you want to camp, go play GhR.  I will let SK slide, since I know that's the only thing he can do since he sux the big one, but if I hear of him doing this vs others, I won't tolerate it.  End of story.  Nobody should be CAMPING as hard as SK.  There's NO "skill" in camping in a room, pointing at the door waiting for it to open...  

This isn't a "Camp and have the other guy come find you Tournament."

Even from reading your explaination of the CB, which is without a doubt a slightly modified version of the truth, it sounds like all the games that you won, you camped.

I would have no problem with you being removed from the tourney right now.

1.) I watched you turn down a CB ( against AngryDad, I think; not sure though ), saying that you would only fight if C4  was allowed.

2.) You turned down a challenge from me, saying that you'd only fight if C4 was allowed.

3.) You camped against Rapid.

4.) You're attempting to lie about how the fight between you and Rapid went.

You camped way too much, and no, you couldn't have seen me on HB's, since I was dropping SA Jammers.

Anyways, you camped as hard as anybody can camp.  To sit at stairs in warehouse AT YOUR STARTING POINT, sit in room crouching in Sib1, Window camping in storage, sitting at window in CSL all game, you're over it fool.  You won by sitting in one spot, and waiting for me to come to you.  Do tactics like that again, and I'll simply disqualify you.  We don't want to have 1v1's where fools like you sit in one room pointing at the door. :o  If you become a problem, you will be dealt with.  The camping you did, was just plain horrible(you hardly moved a foot or two), and if I hear of you doing it against others, you will be dealt with.  Consider this a warning.  

Like I said, this isn't hide and go seek RS.  Where One guy sits in one spot while the other searches around for him.  Imagine if both sides did the same :o

Yet again, typical SilentKiller: If you can't win by reason, win by dumbassismn ( not a word, but what the hell ). I am a member of this tourney, therefor, I am part of this argument.

Excuses such as "not now", "to lazy", and "i dont want to restart" will not be accepted in this tourney. An excuse like "Nah, I can't now, I've got hockey practice in 10 minutes" ( one from pat ) are just fine.

Ok, now onto Casper's comments.



Casper, incase you haven't noticed, what Rapid and I ( and many others soon, I'm sure ) are/will [be] saying is that camping should not be considered an acceptable tactic.

I've been in 3 CBs where camping as played a big factor:

1.) TR vs ICT: Jeb and Ejo picked big maps ( Spa and Nuclear Storage Facility  ), grabed C4 and SA Jammers, found small rooms, and camped. No fun whatsoever, Infection and I left after 3 games of that bullshit.

2.) AK vs AgT: For most of this CB, camping wasn't a problem, it was a 4v4 with some great action filled games. ( AK won, 5-4-1 ), during the second game, Cossack went upstairs and camped. After Monk and I ran around for 3 minutes trying to find him, we backed off to the basement, and decided that we too could play and win the camping game. ( eventually time ran out, because Colin forgot to take the time limit off, lol ). The other game where camping was a factor was the final game, 4-4-1, played at Canals.

At first, everyone came out and faught. It was a great long range fight for about 20 seconds. I killed two AgT's, Rapid killed one. Rapid and 5150 both died. Now that the firefight was over, Monk and I secured the area, checked our backs, and retreated to somewhere we would not be able to be sniped from.

While Cossack camped in his base, Monk and I camped in ours. After about 5 minutes of this, I'd decided that I'd had enough, so I take my peak key off ( I'd hit return twice after peaking so that I'd stay peaked ), Just as I do that, the door opens infront of me, and in comes Cossack, I just barely get him to win the game, and the CB.

3.) MP5 vs KotA: The CB starts out on Rancid's host. As our first map, we pick CL05 Amazon, blue. After Rancid complains about our map choice for 2 minutes, he finally starts the game. He and Pat both grab C4 and jammers, and camp behind couches, and in corners of the gold base, so that the only way to kill them would be a good bounce with a grenade, which would involve knowing their location ( this was an exellent camp by them ). They win 2 games there. They say "just pick a non cheap map, and we won't camp", I won't give in to things like this, so I say "Storage Depot" - Same thing, they camp in the gold base. They win two there, to take a 4-0 lead. I don't feel like going on about that CB, since I've pointed out what needed to be said. They camped in 2 of the remaining game, the final score was 6-4, KotA's favor.

Out of those 3 CBs, the only one which I don't really have that much of a problem with is the AgT one. While I know that both sides can agree that the CB would've been lots more fun without the camping, for the camp filled games, both teams played the same style, therefor, it wasn't one team taking advantage of the other who wasn't playing cheap.

Camping gives you an advantage: Fact.

If both teams camp, the battle is boring: Fact.

Anyone who camps is simply showing that they have less honor than the other player: Fact.

What should battles come down to?

A.) Which team has most patients, and is willing to camp for the longest.

B.) Which team has less honor.

Or C.) Which team is most skilled.

It's the answer obvious?

Thirdly, SK, why do we continue the bickering, this conflict won't be resolved cause you and Rapid were the only ones there. Unless either of you have some form of ?? or something showing time to prove or disprove the camping or non-camp of SK then there ain't nothing anyone can do about it.

Someone camped so be it, learn your lesson SK, just don't drag it out.

Fourthly, to SK again, you said Rapid is the one starting the flaming, for some one claiming to be anti-flame, your posts seem quite....rude...

The last time I 1v1'ed Rapid we both camped for nearly 10 minutes on Warehouse before I finally got 'im.

That was the worst match ever too.  After Capt had camped me 3 times to get the lead 5-4, I decided to camp on that last game too, and ended up dragging on for 10 minutes.  That's the type of bs I'm trying to steer away from.  We don't need cheap bastards that need to camp to get their wins!  As soon as one guy camps the other, the other is due to retaliate, dragging the game on longer than it should.   My 1v1 vs Capt way back in the day, is a perfect example.  (Remember when I said "What if both sides camped", well it did happen before and it was pretty lame)

Well i thought it was cool being in the quarter finals intill i met casper, i couldnt wait to play, intill i played one round on his host, and i said, can we find a neutral host and he said, i could get typhy to host, with his under 50 ping and his food delight, he tried to fool me with his ping, but i dinied , so he brought up the BL rule. back to his host i go with a bucket fulla ping and a stubbed toe.  I cryed and i weeped at my 200 ping defeat, and off we go at 2-3, so i try to find a host, sence my router fucked mine, away to Justin sanes we try, but with his 3 bars and under 100ping, killing my ass, he dinies, No this is laggy, You find another host, or you forfit, so i try overthrow yes i do "I dont like it here, and neither should you" what a bitch i say, what a cocksmear indeed, the fucker made me resign from this turny , O gee.

Also, you will not nesscessarly be playing me, since the other matches haven't happened. Rapid will move on, as a result of PostNoBills ( punisher ) not logging on. I am not sure what Rapid will decide in Letum vs AngryDad, since I haven't seen either of them on recently.

The reason that he hasn't been showing up, is because he's gone back to his normal name - Punisher.

My point is/was that he has ( unless it's true that he tried to sign up as pun as well ) broken no rules, simply played his battles under a different name - a name change of sorts, however, upon further review of the situation, I do believe that it would be right to remove him due to the fact that he played under an alias, considering the advantages that gives you. Also, considering the fact that he used both names at once, so there'd be times when he wasn't ready to battle, but was on GameRanger.
